I'd like to both credit and apologise to @DevsDice for the lack of citation on images of their fantastic work bringing Mordheim to the world and creating amazing things. Go check out their channel to see awesome builds. One of the unfortunate realities of rushing and also having detached editing, is sometimes the "grab some cool images of Mordheim boards" is done without much thought to their creator. Personally, I feel artistic credit is extremely important and will be having a meeting to discuss the inclusion of on screen citation for all images going forward - Dave
3:23 Necromunda first edition is from 1995, and Mordheim was released in 1999 as a heavily inspired fantasy version of it. But most of your viewers probably already know this ;)
The youthful exuberance of Stönd Byme in the miniature showcase is perfection. Modelling and painting coming together to really bring the character to life.
Nice to see you giving Mordheim a shot! Your criticisms are fair and valid. Blackpowder weapons and armour are both way overpriced - but that was apparently a deliberate choice by the game designers. Mordheim is set 500 years before the events of Warhammer fantasy, so they wanted blackpowder and heavy armour to be appropriately uncommon and scarce. Chad move is to take em anyways if your mini has em to stay wysiwyg. Its easy to break the game spamming Skaven slingers, and there are some issues caused by the stat line being the same as WHFB, such as high initiative troops being a bit op. But i love it anyways
Absolutely - I have no plans to ditch my gear! - My handgunners can stay sub-optimal - I think the inherent mistake from a game dev perspective is to make something both expensive (uncommon and scarce) AND bad - Theres an amazing blackpowder misfire table, fantastic, i'd be all on board with Handguns always using misfires and costing a lot if they were better than cheaper alternatives. Otherwise why would you ever take them? The hochland long rifle is a good example of this, its an ABSURD 200 GP, but also, has 48 inches, massive range in mordheim, unmatched - So it has a desirable utility if you're crazy enough to buy it!
Whoa whoa whoa! Necromunda, the first version from the days of 2nd Ed. 40k, beack in the Early-to-mid-90's came BEFORE 'Mordheim', it was basically the 'Warhammer Fantasy' version OF Necromunda in pretty much EVERY way, even a lot of the mechanics were similar! (Speaking as someone who Played the original Necromunda at the time and thus is very much aware that Mordheim came later)
When Mordheim first came out, I was given half a box of Skaven Clan Rats and had a wonderful time. I wish I still had those models, I would love to play a campaign again.
Gunpowder weapons are for late game dave... after a good chunk of the campaign is done and their leader is decked in heavy Armour, you'll see the benefit. Or if your fighting a vampire in game 1 they can be pretty useful lol
I’d be tempted to stash them in a treasury while waiting for a marksman to promote himself to a worthy status. Shooting and speed or even shooting and academic.
yer later in the game when heros start rocking gromril armour and a shield, and or mounted on a barded warhorse, the extra ap is needed, plus a black powder weapon, like a hochland longrifle, in the hands of a hero marksmen will put in work
My Witch Hunter captain took out a vampire with his brace of pistols. The vampire ended up getting the injury where the player had to roll to see if it would be in the next game. After not showing up, my nephew ended up making another team.
Mordheim and Frostgrave are my go to games. i have a skaven and Dwarven warbands for mordheim. built an amazing board as well for it took me quite some time got a lot of inspiration from Devs and Dice and Eric's hobby workshop
This was great! I really hope the mordheim content continues. The character/personality of having a small individually kitted warband is pretty inspiring, even if I'm working on an Old World army and not a warband (yet!)
Printed up a big batch of Hexengarde and Ramshackle and Ruin scenery for Mordheim & similar games this summer and painted up the first table's worth. Still a bunch more to paint. Mostly using old figures so far, but have some STLs & Northstar and Wargames Atlantic plastics to expand my warbands.
Loving the resurgence of Mordheim!! That Warband looks amazing too! You guys crushed it! I have been putting together a few warbands to have when my friends come e over. Pick up and play a impromptu campaign whenever we get together
Beautiful sculpt selections, and smashing paint job on the whole lot! It’s been ages since I’ve played Mordhiem. Watching your videos, and those on Miscast, has me watching more videos on board and terrain building for the game; I want to bring Mordhiem to my local group to play… Thank You ❤
Necromunda was the predecessor to Mordheim, not the other way around. (And Confrontation and Gang War were before Necromunda too.) Gorka Morka was also before Mordheim. You're not wrong about the new player gotchas - even in Necromunda this is a problem, and quite honestly a plasma gun is a terrible starter weapon too. :P (Imo, I'm sure there'll be people who love the thing, but I've killed way more of my own gangers than enemies with the damn things.)
@@DevsDice Hey Leif, for sure. As one of your patreons who built his entire Malifaux board following your lead, I recognize your handiwork everywhere. You're great!

One trend I've noticed in the terrain making community is a fad for building Mordheim-style buildings and boards, whether or not you play the actual game. The aesthetic popularized by Leif of Devs and Dice is spreading to the larger community.
Squig stuffy!!!! The bases for the figures were amazing. Jenn did a great job. The girly vs grimdark contrast was amusing as she placed skulls with her perfectly manicured nails. Loved the finished figures and their names.
