2:25 That's the Traveler screaming. Immaru and our ghost talks about about how it can hear it screaming but to actually be able to hear it ourselves. And it sounds in great pain, even scared.
I get what you mean but hmm feels weird for that to be a scream. Its more like a roar or something else. The scene built up to a positive thing where it burst light everywhere. What really weird is, this is a vision right? But why, what does the burst of light even mean? Sure some scenes we can explain, getting prismatic, the white tree getting corrupted etc etc. But that light explosion..where to begin..it never happened. Its different.
Definitely a scream, and it's not the last time you'll hear it. It's understandable too, given the unimaginable body horror that's being inflicted on it.
Eventually it straight up just starts begging you to save it as it's being the equivalent of skinned alive.
@@vankristlabs Yeah... and how the Witness is twisting the Traveler's Light to make the Final Shape... as well as the Darkness that now is a part of the Traveler corrupting it from within thanks to the Witness.
@@BryonYoungblood As someone who's been brutalized in a somewhat similar fashion - such that I've only recently started getting back some of the repressed memories of it - I can say that one concern I have is for the Traveler's psychological health.
It's sentient, and experienced this literally surgical horror as an analogue to the human equivalent, and was reduced to helpless screaming - time does *not* in fact heal all wounds. After something like that, who you are in idle moments is informed by, calcified in, that moment of brutality. Just because we burst in and killed the torturer doesn't mean their victim will survive. At the very least, the Traveler will have an analogue of PTS - if it doesn't just outright die or go catatonic as soon as it has enough time to fully realize the extent of its own horror following the Witness's procedures. It's in a state of shock at the moment, and as time goes on, I have a feeling we'll see the devastation that such a paroxysm of "having one's guts (literally and figuratively) being dug around in" has on any sentient entity.
That said, if you aren't squeamish, the tab for Mataidoxía (Warlock, Exotic, Chest) describes the both physical and figurative processes that the Witness took almost half a year of leisure to inflict. It makes the scene where it forms the Link with the Veil almost physically nauseating after you've read what happens next. For me, the impact is that much greater. The moment the Black Fleet flagships surround the Traveler, you're watching the equivalent of a person being strapped to a gurney, or being pulled into a dark alley, with nobody around to help, preceding a process that then goes on for almost half a year.
And that's saying nothing of the distressing imagery of the Traveler's spirit (the bird) getting hit with the Witness's Suspend during the vision in this scene.
The bird represents life making a desperate attempt to live, while the darkness consumes all that it touches. Very powerful stuff.
This cutscene was somehow verry emotional to me, the end made me think of the traveler giving its last desperate act after being completely taken by darkness.
The game bugged for me, and the music from the last part kept playing on. I thought it was intended, it gave it an even more eerie / corrupted vibe, but still this is pog

They’re premonitions. Cayde’s gun, Zavala’s armor getting corrupted, the astronaut using prismatic, the traveler in peril etc
I believe it's meant to tell us the future if we failed. While also telling us what we'd become with prismatic.
It's also a possible hint to who we were before we became a guardian.
That since humanity's Collapse, the Traveler has created Ghosts from its very being to aid humanity from their darkest hour. That Ikora, our Ghosts, Zavala, Crow, Cayde and itself are all in danger due to the witness's very existence of the traveler. If the Witness persists, the very light of the Traveler will be beyond unrecognizable and all whom we worked with and the entire universe are subject to its perilous ideals.
If we are to overcome this, we must be the first to take the steps into a power untouched by any other to use against the witness. Else all ghosts that shine like the stars. All life in the universe will fade or be remade to serve another purpose.

@@scott-gaming.8834Media literacy is the concept of understanding what you are consuming in regards to media (entertainment such as books, TV shows, or in this case, video games). It’s one’s ability to detect what’s going on in a story that isn’t explicitly shown, such as sarcasm, metaphor (which is what this cutscene is), satire, and so on.
This cutscene is a giant metaphor and premonition for what the Final Shape is. It’s the Traveler, a being that cannot communicate directly (only in tangentially related ways such as dreams and concepts, which are often ripe with metaphor), communicating to us, the Guardian and our Ghost, on what the Witness is doing to it.
The Witness is corrupting the Traveler, as shown by the black veins (Witness) snapping onto the white feather and tree branches (Traveler). The early showings of the Traveler, grass growing, and rain is the Traveler telling us what it is: a being of creation, made solely to create life and nothing more. In the Witness’s vision, it wishes to use the Traveler to do the opposite, as shown by the fragments of the Ace of Spades, the dying and then broken Ghost, and so on. The Traveler is struggling to fight back as shown by the hawk being strangled by the black veins. And so it calls upon us, the Guardian, to save it, and to save it we must use both Light and Dark in harmony to defeat the Witness. This is why we are shown the astronaut on Mars, who were the first humans to ever encounter the Traveler, controlling all five elements (Solar, Stasis, Arc, Strand, and Void).
That last great sound you hear, the one that sounds like the dentist’s drill? That’s the Traveler screaming. Screaming the intent of the message loud and clear for us hear:
It’s dying and needs our help.
