So she did everything she could to meet the criteria to be revived. And she made sure to archive her life story so that she could remember in time. Truly the queen of cunning.
It's amazing. The writers deserve an award.
Wrong she was actually worthy from the second the traveler chose the 3 siblings
@@oryxthetakenking5682 Actually no. She, along with her race was chosen to be uplifted, the same as Eliksni and Humans. They were never chosen to be guardians in the first place, because there's no evidence of The Traveler chosen anyone to be guardians before it came to the Sol system. And that's why she had to played as Osiris in order to understand how The Traveler choose its guardians, because not even every humans can become guardians.
She didn't even know if her trick would play out in the end, hence the monologue at 9:48, there was always the possibility she wouldn't be revived. But that's exactly why this trick has a possibility to work in the first place, because that's the criteria for being a guardian: devote, protect, fight and sacrifice. She devoted her lifetime to chase after The Traveler then eventually tricked The Darkness and saved it. She fought for the survival of not only her own (of course it's her priority)but also of her race and tried to wrestle back the control of their destiny from The Witness. In the end, she chose death in order to achieve her goal, a choice few can make. And that's how she was chosen. If we take away the differences in race and philosophy, she's exactly the same as other guardians.
And she made sure that she archived her life story, which spanned thousands of years by now, because she learned she would lose her memories when she's made guardian, in order to not forget what her goal was.

To avoid spoilers, stay off the Raid Secrets Subreddit. I heard they have heavy spoilers on there. But I believe its someone called rhe Disciple based on a post campaign mission discussion between our ghost and Mara Sov. Purely speculation, they could just be hinting heavy at Lightfall like the final words from our Guardian.

So the Traveler isn’t as pure we all thought it was. It basically moves from planet to planet promising it’s civilians the “the Light” as a disguise to hide itself for a while. Then moves to another planet when it senses it has been noticed, making the same promise over and over again. Finally revealing it was running away from the Witness is such a good plot.
the destiny 1 leaks and concept art are all making so much sense, I love lore
Its been 8 years to find out wat the darkness is and we still dont kno wat neither the light nor darkness are. But i bet the marketing team from bungie will use that wen they drop their trailer for the next dlc in two years

With each DLC since Forsaken, I continue to feel like the bad guy more and more.......makes me wonder about our guardian's past life and the origins of the ghosts.

Nearly all civilizations on Fundament (the Porto Hive’s original home world) and it’s moons were thriving under the light. But The Witness and the Worm Gods created the god wave to push the proto Hive to embrace darkness and become the genocidal race they are now to be champions of darkness. After the defeat of her brother, Savathun saw through the deception and schemed her way to reject the darkness and embrace the light.

To me at least, Savathun was surprisingly genuine about serving the light, we may have snuffed a potential ally in the coming war. But then again moth lady could have just horded the big lamp to herself and fled Sol with said lamp.
We went from this amazing story to a walmart version of cayde cracking jokes in the face of another collapse. There's no way the team that wrote this story did lightfall.
Lightfall was a filler campaign, the original story the had for lightfall was moved to the final shape, so they needed a filler. It's a shame but I still enjoyed jt

@@LateNightHalo Nah. Taken King was a great dlc for everything it fixed and brought to Destiny but this campaign was way better
So Savathun was revived by a loophole she found in the Traveler's ways and took advantage of it. She found a way to be revived by the Traveler.
I don’t think it’s a “loophole” just that she was worthy. Light isn’t good or evil just like the darkness. Kind of like war. We might think ourselves the good guys and what we are doing is good and everyone else is bad, but from their perspective we are the bad guys and they are good guys just defending themselves.
Not exactly. The traveler always found the krill worthy of the light and the witness knew this. Thus it reached out to the 3 siblings first and made the wormgods so they could strike a deal.
Oryx, Savathûn and Xivu Arath never knew that the traveler saw them as worthy. The traveler was simply keeping its promise by reviving savathun.
My theory is that the traveler did this and was willing to accept the ritual in order to have savathun and the lucent brood avaliable to fight the witness (it probably wants us to ally with them and I think that will happen as savathûns ghost is still around.
If it wasn't for the witness interfering the traveler would've let the ritual happen.
Basically you can't trust the traveler. It has its own interest that may not benefit humanity.
Not a loophole. She genuinely believed in the teachings and philosophies of the light once her worm was excised and fully embraced her original death. That apparently was enough for the Traveller to grace her.
But she had contingent plans to regain her memories after death using a fair bit a dark magic.

Agreed. They would have to take out the "MC" and have it be Game Of Thrones style with every hero and villain getting personal screen time. Treating the Witness like the Night King. No lore books everything gets acted out. If it was never a game and instead a show, yes, it would be peak fiction. But the story as it is now would just not work as a show

So the Witness and the Pyramids arent the Darkness itself. Also, if the Hive gods were originally meant to be lightbearers, it could mean that there's a Ghost floating around the system that will resurrect Oryx...
God I wish but remember Oryx took himself. He’s a being made purely of the deep now and his krill body doesn’t exist anymore. But hey, when they bring back kings fall and oryx thundercrashes us feel free to tell me I’m wrong

Clovis Bray is an genius that has given himself immortality via becoming an Exo and he has a god complex/ a desire to be the last point of human evolution. He also has access to Vex technology which he has exploited immensely, and Vex tech allows for time travel as weve seen when we rescued Saint 14. The Witness looks oddly human and its head is white and bald, much like the Clovis Exo head. Im thinking that at some point Clovis travels back in time and ends up becomig the Witness. The Witness is after all confirmed not to be Darkness itself like, it simply wears it like a cloak, and Clovis has used Vex tech and Darkness. His ambition to be the last point of human evolution could have expanded to the "final shape" of the universe. Also just an extra little minut thing but the smoke like heads could kind of be representative of multiple timelines or something and the Witness is rather fluidic like the Vex

I don't know why, but I feel like Savathun was trying to do the right thing and we stopped her from doing it, making us the bad guys this time.

Thanks to the exorcism of her worm, she no longer _had_ to lie to get by. What I'm wonder is: what if the Traveler took her Ghost to prevent _us_ from killing her permanently because it knows we need all the help we can get for the Witness' arrival?
The hive on our side I would be amazed to see it
I feel like Savathûn would have just hoarded the Traveller for herself so she could eff off safely and live forever like she always wanted.
I find it so compelling that the place Savathûn escaped to after the exorcism was the Last City.
She found genuine comfort and kinship there. At least as close to it as she can get for a narcissistic nightmare who worked to murder them from the inside out the whole time.
All the place we look for Osiris and she hid him right beneath our nose... slow clap here.
savathun swapped places with osiris, which means she hid the real osiris right outside the city, taunting us
cause that's where the traveler is. it's not that wild.

We still have the 9 and the haul given to the Drifter, which is like a pocket universe or the distributary which is also like a pocket universe.
her ghost is still alive so she can come back
if they really wanted to shut the door on Savvy they'd have killer her Ghost...that and hiring a high profile name like debra wilson to do her voice, she almost certainly is coming back, if not this season then the next. my prediction is we'll beat the disciple in the next raid, the witness shows up and gets ready to clap cheeks, and then she'll swoop in and save us.
so we should just surrender?, remember that the plan savathun had was trapping the traveler inside her throneworld, it is implied in the game that if this was to happen, the last city would be defensless and the guardian would lose their light, so what do you want people to understand ?lol
So wait, not only is the traveler seeking out a new strategy, something different form how it and the darkness always worked but the darkness has been sabotaging it from day one.
Go to the lore section. The Travelor is the gardener and the darkness is the other. They basically were playing a game to prove they were right.

@@cainabel6356 The Traveler is not the Gardener. Gardener is the Light itself, a cosmic power beyond comprehension. Traveler is just an enforcer of it, Like the Pyramids (and by extension, the Witness) are the enforcers of Darkness. Even Savathûn explains it in one of her memories when she describes the Witness:
"It is not Darkness, but something that wears it like a cloak. It gives Darkness a wicked shape."
@@numbjuhnu - I thought they stated that the Traveler was the Gardner, seeing how the wittness has stated to it that the game is over. That should state that the Traveler is the gardner, shouldn't it? Also the pyramid ships are the darkness, it is reference that the darkness caused the cataclysm that hit humankind. I believe that was the darkness.
@@cainabel6356 Pyramids are responsible for the Collapse, yes. But the Worm gods that created the Hive worship the Witness. Pyramids are so closely related to the Darkness that yes, they can be seen and even has been called just "The Darkness" but they are still just its enforces, although very powerful ones.

I think the traveler is playing the long game here, trying to redeem and rally former enemies against the coming tide of dark. Uldren is a model guardian now in spite of everything, Savathûns desire to stop the darkness is 100% genuine at the least, and I firmly believe that the traveler has the old dominus Ghaul in its back pocket in the off chance it needs a kaiju sized light bearer as a last resort.
Am I the only one that thinks the Last city should definitely do an upgrade on their alarms and sensors. Like she was right fucking there and they didn't get any "hive signature" nearing the city to send out a squad of guardians to intervene

The office scene gave me goosebumps… Zavala and everyone in the room realizing that the Traveler isn’t aligned with humanity, but only it’s own survival. If we didn’t stop Savathun, then the traveler would’ve gone with her in her throne world.

That’s not the Traveller’s primary motivation like at all, and if that’s the route they’re goi down then that spits on the past seven to eight years of lore.
@@DuelaDent52 the lore does indicate that the traveler is mainly concerned with its survival. Rasputin shot the traveler while it was trying to escape the darkness during the collapse. If that didn’t happen, then we would’ve been destroyed like the Eliskini home world.
@@DuelaDent52 In The Strangers time line the Traveler leaves, and considering it ran from every civilization that it stop at in the lore of Destiny 1 Books of Sorrow, this current story makes sense.

Calling it now, we bring her back when we fight the black fleet so we have Hive, Fallen and Cabal allies
Most likely since her ghost got away. So it's most likely she'll come back in the final shape
All we need now are some Vex and we'll have a real axis of Righteousness!

That genuinely would be amazing, to fight alongside every race we considered enemies, all fighting for a common good. The vex I cant really imagine reasoning with, but I'd like to see how that pans out.

As someone who has been away from this game since the Oryx dlc I'm glad to see that all the destiny 1 concept art and theories we came up with turning out to be right.
So we went from being a side piece of the traveler and back again. Cool. Traveler seems awesome now.
So Eramis is trapped in Stasis Ice, Savathûn’s Ghost is still around… so are the major villains of the past 2 years coming back for Lightfall or Final Shape?
Maybe they’re the one to reveal the truth about the Traveller and the Pyramids. Both of them have witnessed both those entities in action.

The Traveler has chosen a bunch of races. It chose the Hive, the Fallen and Humanity. It could have chosen other species within the galaxy before humans.
@@cainabel6356 True, but the Traveler, as far as we know, has never made Lightbearers until it chose to remain with Humanity. Of course, the exception being Savathun.
Sev6n has said this but I am glad that the leaks came out during destiny 1 because now we get to see what a truly amazing work of art story telling can be in a game.

I know that I spoiled the ending for myself, but I legit want to experience this with my own hands, especially with the journey to get to it.
Seriously it makes me wanna finish the campaign even more.

Immaru can’t resurrect her without her body, so he’s stuck there. For now, Savathûn is by all intents and purpose dead.
@@DuelaDent52 Why is that? Guardians have been atomized and brought back, unless the Vandguard hides her body, or don't destroy it, she should be able to come back.
@@majesticmajestic7058 I'm pretty sure ghosts can still revive you if your body becomes disintegrated. Why you think we get revived even when we blown up and disintegrated by some super or class ability
@@DuelaDent52 yeah, but her bodys still there. Of course the vanguard have it but i doubt theyll destroy her body. This isnt the last we will see of savathun with the light, or her ghost. Just like eramis too, i think they have plans for her down the line

I feel bad for her little ghost, dude started out immediately after she got rezzed looking like a normal ghost and at the end was completely unrecognizable

Sav’s ghost is sadistic. His lore shows he isn’t anything like other ghosts and only serves himself and the traveler

I really like the look of the Player at the last cutscene. I always did feel dark magenta went well with slate grey and black.

The loadout you used to kill Savathûn was the exact same one I used for the Campaign.
I find it interesting that savathun was warming us at this point because of the witness. I think what’s gonna happen is that the traveler is gonna leave us. And we’re gonna loose our light again and we only have to use darkness subclass like how they released a new darkness class in light fall. In witch queen. It feels light avengers infinity war. Now it feels like avengers endgame now
Who are the frozen figures next to the witness ?

Is it the Gardner vs the Architect? If so, which one do we side with? Do we side with ourselves and defeat both? Apparently the Darkness wants to destroy all life.
@@cainabel6356 gardener is associated with light and winnower is associated with dark. Not sure what the architect is tbh. The game states dark and light are neither good nor evil (which is true), but in my eyes the light lines up a lot closer with how humanity sees life.
I’m not sure if this is accurate, but from my understanding, the darkness basically sees life as an opportunity for pain and suffering to happen, which it doesn’t like. Therefore if it eradicates all life, no one has to suffer. The light on the other hand empowers those deserving of it, and allows the opportunity for certain species to flourish. However that doesn’t mean those species will do good with the light, which can result in suffering for others (i.e. us killing savathun when she earned the light. It wasn’t our place to take that away from her, even if we tried to justify it as protecting humanity).
Guardians still align with the gardeners philosophy (the light) even though we are using darkness powers.

The Traveller doesn’t resurrect people, Ghosts do. The Traveller left Riis to save the Eliksni. We’ve known for a while that the Traveller isn’t infallible. Why is everyone so bloody stupid?

Wasn't an avid fan of Destiny, but the ending of Witch Queen with the reveal of The Witness is one of the best moments I've seen in anything. Lightfall kinda disappointed me, but Season of the Witch looks promising :)

this is how destiny 2's story should've gone down. Introduce the big baddie the game has been setting up for a while, then set up an even greater threat and build a story over 2-3 years. the first 3 years of destiny's story were individual stories and had no ongoing narrative. THIS is a story and THIS DLC has the best campaign in Destiny period, not even close.

The next light "element" is ironically darkness coming with the update lightfall so what is the traveler where does the beggining of good start and where does it end where is it that darkness is unrecognisable from light is light just another form of darkness and is the traveler just a coward using fallen species as a shield for its ever growing small "life" I never trusted the traveler from the moment I heard it erases memories
So the witness has been hunting the traveler eh.

Destiny has the most amazing ability to create a story that's so vague and complex, the only way you can get a decent understanding of it is if someone like Byf, a guy that does tons of research and analysis, has the motivation to make an entire youtube channel dedicated to making sense of the entire game for us to comprehend. I like it but at the same time wtf???
