What i love is that the Witness is SUPPOSED to be this BILLION year old unified being but once we enter into its mind, there is no true unity. I remember in the Etelechy lore book, they wiped out the 2 groups that wouldnt give them any second thoughts or doubts into their unification to become the witness. The whole point of the witness was to not have doubts. Not from a single member of its being. But there is. The Dissenter(s). The unification of an entire race into one being is not so unified after all. But if that were the case, wouldnt that kind of inner-individuality effect the Witness in its actions? I nee a few couldnt have more control over the many but i feel it wouldve had some sort of outward effect on the witness in terms of its actions and choices. A nudge here. A nudge there.
22:04 Bungie, you still failed to make me care because you had important character development in deleted content. The inability to preserve Destiny’s story is damaging to art as a whole.
@@zerotodona1495 they tried so hard to gaslight us into thinking they did us a favor by deleting the first two campaigns and giving us a half assed new origin story attempt. Story being based on fomo is unethical for narrative preservation in media.
Ok, wild theory. Why introduce Micah 10 of all legendary guardians in the lore. I think Micah 10 brought her flock of ghost into the Traveler as a way to revive any of our fallen troops, ie Cabal, Eliksni, awoken, or even human. The hive were chosen by the light, what's to say those other races such as Cabal and Eliksni won't get chosen in the middle of battle. Devotion inspire bravery, bravery inspire sacrifice, sacrifice leads to death, thus a guardian is born. Light or not
The last 3 missions of this dlc are extremely good, maybe superior to every other campaign mission from D2. Also, the cutscenes? Fire. The sad part is that most of the people were not able to enjoy the start and middle missions/cutscenes because of these stupid errors.
The errors are unfortunate but I went back and did the whole thing solo and I believe it’s the best canpaign we’ve ever gotten. The mechanics even early on make the missions feel more complex (even if they aren’t) the story I felt had amazing pacing and there weren’t any things I was lost about even with me not knowing almost any lore past the campaigns. And the best part. The raid actually matters to the story for once. Let’s also remember that error codes on the first day don’t define the quality of the entire expansion. The community likes to latch onto one problem big or small and extrapolate that to the entire expansion. Let’s not do that here.
@@EggyWeggyIII This is my opinion: when I have to make a "chart" of the dlcs we got these years, the highest point is of course the witch queen dlc. It had beautiful and various environments, good guns, good story, big revelations in mid campaign and at the end of it. To me, the witch queen still remains superior, because it was consistent, start to end. The final shape started strong, but the pacing was a bit off in the missions 2 to 4. I found the "go, find ikora, crow and zavala" objectives too basic, and the encounters were not my cup of tea, these three missions felt a little bit too similar. Howewer, the things started to go fire again from mission 6, till the end (the last two missions are better than the missions of the witch queen for me, i felt the tension, the build up to that moment). Tha's why I think the witch queen was better, simply because i found it more"consistent", always on a mid-high level. Of course we still have the last mission and the raid, and i think those two will elevate the dlc even more. Like you mentioned, I liked that every mission had some complex mechanic in it, and that were not simply "push forward". Simply, the witch queen dlc remains better cause missions of that dlc were extremely good in the middle of the campaign too!!
@@salvatoreruggiero6551 I see your point about the middle two missions, but I would argue those same types of missions existed with WQ. The story for WQ essentially boiled down to “we don’t know anything until the final 2 missions where we discovered everything instantly” we didn’t know her plans, we didn’t know how she got the light, we didn’t know much of anything and to me it felt like we were just grasping at straws. Granted we had that same concept with this campaign but to a much lesser degree. With this campaign we were always working toward something. Yes those filler missions existed, but they always told a story or explained something that we didn’t know that actually mattered.
@@EggyWeggyIII yes, yes. A big point in favor of the WQ was that we actually did not know almost anything aside from the fact that Savathun had the light, and we also had some big revelations we did not get in this expansion, and this of course helped a lot. To me, if i should rank the dlc and gives a 9/10 to WQ, then the final shape is still a 7.5/8 for me, which will sure go higher after the dlc and the big final mission, especially if this final mission will be on the same or higher level of the mission we god at the end of the campaign!
No, the sad part is that this was advertised as the end of the “Light and Dark Saga” but it clearly isn’t actually a conclusion. It’s a $40 prologue to a new season of D2. I am so glad I do not play this game.
I havent played for ages. Came here for cutscenes / story. I still think witchqueen story and cutscenes were the best, with the young Sathona scene being bungies best work

I was really annoyed when they removed forsaken as I liked to replay it time to time and that gets removed for so much mediocre filler content that destiny is famed for now. just stop buying them, I know you think it's a good game but 95% of Destiny 2 is the story now, the gameplay hasn't done anything in 10 years besides one or two new sub classes
I must say, as someone who has never played Destiny, the lore was always interesting. My brother spoke, and still does, speak about it. But when I started to hear about The Witness, I became more interested. He explained what he knew and as time went on, it seemed like The Witness was an enemy not even The Traveler could defeat. Witch Queen, Lightfall, Final Shape, I was interested in hearing what my brother knew about The Witness. Soon, Lightfall came, and I watched some cutscenes with my bro. The way it spoke, moved, acted. Despite not even touching the game, this was an enemy that I knew would have an impact larger than any before. I was the one talking now, I was telling my brother that there was no way you all were going to be successful in stopping The Witness' Final Shape. Saying that even if you defeat him, his plans will be completed. We watched The Final Shape's launch trailer. And all I said to him was "There is no way you're winning." In my mind, this is where you lost. The culmination of so many years. This was the time where everything would change. That the loss would bring about a new era to Destiny 2 and its guardians. Then, just a few days ago, The Final Shape happened. My brother told me about it, I watched the best cutscenes with him and was even there when he completed it. It was beautiful and it seems the entire community has been satisfied. But, once again. As someone who never played, an outsider. I couldn't help but feel... disappointed. The Witness felt like a force that would have you all left with just a string of fight left after you defeated him. An entity that would win despite the best efforts of everyone. That The Final Shape would arrive. I know most people's first question would be "how would they continue the game?" and whatnot. But I think there are plenty of ways. I guess I just felt like, if everyone lost, a new beginning would be sparked. The rebuilding of everything. Learning to live with what The Witness changed about, everything. Giving a new purpose to play to everyone instead of just the same content. Perhaps I don't understand because I don't play. Maybe I'm just an outsider.
The Episodes will expand on the mark that the Witnesse's death has on the Sol system. If the Final Shape was allowed to happen, there would be no begining, everything would be stale. Even in a different timeline we would still have to destroy the Witness. Elsie, a caracter that has been throu countless timelines has told us that everything ends with the Final Shape, we stopped that fate. SPOILERS AHEAD Also, in the raid the Witness outrite states the the Winnower exists and that they (the Witness) are the first knife, impling that the unvailing lore book is at least partially true, meaning that the "game of flowers" is still ongoing.
@@kostiskampouris3415 I'm aware of large implications because of my brother and my own interest in The Witness, I was just expressing what my expectations were and how I saw The Final Shape rather than what Bungie ultimately decided to do.
No, it's actually explained in one of the missions. Crow was thinking about Cayde when he went through the wish portal at the end of last season. So essentially he accidentally wished Cayde back.
@Zoomii5 It makes me wonder, what's the monkey's paw this time? Will he now be forever denied that peace he originally had? Or did Riven skip the paw this time, as her own way apologizing to Crow for her past actions toward him? "One last wish, Little Light, as a final apology to you." I don't know much about Ahamkara so I'm not sure if they're even capable of a "free wish", so to speak.

Cutscene 3 is probably my favorite cutscene from this franchise ever, showing what the witness wants the final shape to be and how he wants to rewrite history. Giving the first people to discover the traveler prismatic powers and undoing all that was done after it
Lol what if this whole time our favorite weapon Saint 14 mentioned wasn't the Bastion, but actually Ergo Sum? Some people already have it and it seems to be a one of a kind weird sword and the lore it has is quite interesting.
I walked away when they robbed us of payed content i.e. “sunset.” A part of me wishes I never played at all. I spent *years* playing destiny since the moment it first released. So many *amazing* memories I’ll never forget, which is why it pains me beyond belief to see the corporate greed destroy what could have been a beautiful decade long adventure. Farewell destiny, you won’t be missed…
I missed the 2nd intro cutscene completely. Was waiting for the whole raid/final mission wondering where the final shape city/last earth scene was and Mara saying he's initialising it. Clears up so much confusion since launch.
Dude I’m come to love crows character journey and where he is now, the scene where he talk about Amanda you can feel the pain and the love. I hope she comes back as like a titan or something
So has Mara done anything against the witness? She seems so self preserving. Didn’t even want to go into the portal even though she’s got a throne world… she was happy for us to fling ourselves in
Firtly, she is the reason we got in the portal in the first place, due to her bond with crow. Secondly, she is activly pushing back against the witnesses advances. Her Throne World, isn't safe, Dul' Incaru is still there, if Mara goes to her Throne world he will suffer her final death. Also, she we neaded someone to cordinate with our other allies, when we got in the portal we lost almost every communication with the outside world. She also saved us at the end from being killed be the Witnesse's Taken.

Definitely not the best lol. Tedious missions followed by an ending which doesn’t even conclude anything. Yeah definitely ‘by far the best campaign’
Halo 1, 2, 3 and Reach Campaigns run laps around anything Bungie has done ever since.
How does an Exo play the Harmonica?
never heard about pneumatics? ;)
@@DoubleYouRandyBe I guess what I'm saying is that this is the first time we've learned (or at least from what I've seen) that Exos can physically push air with their mouths.
@@kasm7870
Most functions like breathing or eating are required for exos or else their minds would reject the exo bodies and they'd die.
They have simulated versions of breathing, hunger, etc so that their brains don’t freak out about being in a robot body
Because he Cayde 🥸
I straight up though it was a glitch when it cut to the cosmodrome. I thought it was the new light cutscene
22:04 Bungie, you still failed to make me care because you had important character development in deleted content. The inability to preserve Destiny’s story is damaging to art as a whole.
Seriously, any new lights in the last few years are probably so confused. Hell, most don’t even know who ghaul is for example.
@@zerotodona1495 they tried so hard to gaslight us into thinking they did us a favor by deleting the first two campaigns and giving us a half assed new origin story attempt. Story being based on fomo is unethical for narrative preservation in media.
@@zerotodona1495 yeah i really have been enjoying this campaign but my god i started playing november 2023 and there is alot that confuses me
@@zerotodona1495 Worse still with Which queen they just forgot that this wasn't the first time someone has used the light against us
love the part where when he's calm, there are many voices. But when aggravated, they all merge into the one.
Light or not
Thanks for putting this up. We missed every scene due to yet another bungie fumble.
Finally this is what I was looking for. Thanks TH-cam for saving me 50 bucks.
I still think witchqueen story and cutscenes were the best, with the young Sathona scene being bungies best work
The taken King, Witch Queen, and forsaken are my favourite bungie stories bar their Halo games which are still my favourite campaigns in all gaming to date. I was really annoyed when they removed forsaken as I liked to replay it time to time and that gets removed for so much mediocre filler content that destiny is famed for now. Really hoping final shapes ending lives up to the hype. We deserve a good one.
Thank you, now I don't have to waste any more money on this game. Looking forward to the Raid and those cutscenes as well.
I hope Asher Mir reappears from his radiolarian holiday.
Miss him so much!
Keep dreaming, buddy
Hearing the witness yell gave me chills. It was awesome 😎
The witness: *destroys every civilization that is under the traveler*
Also the witness: “why does every civilization under the traveler end in ruin?”
"Zavala when explaining plan"
Guardian: a mimir
"Mara planning witness raid"
Guardian: *SAY LESS MY QUEEN WE WILL TURN THE WITNESS INTO EXOTIC CIGARETTE* (dies to 18 hour suffering of raid)
"Attention Contacting Destiny 2 Servers" in the middle of a cutscene, well done Bungie lmfao
Is zavala now voiced by the arbiter? Whoever he is is doing great
Man, if only the random lfg fireteam leader doesn't just skip every cutscenes. This would have been great.
Why the fuck do you play it via lfg 😂
@Luckydave123 I was playing on legend and I like to suffer.
Cutscene #11 had me on the edge of my seat the whole damn time!
If D2 would just tell the damn story in the campaign and not rely on the seasonal content to tell the story you pay 60$ for with the expac, the game would be better.
The intire story is in the campaign, the seasons ( now episodes) will expand on what happend AFTER the death of the witness.
Also, the tried that only for lightfall, bungie womt repeat that mistake
So does Savathun do anything? I was looking forward to her coming back again
After the campaign she shows some "love" just the way the Hive would do
I walked away about 3 or so years back. Kind of with they would end the story and begin anew.
Thanks @Esoterickk, very much for sharing that story with us !
I forgot keith is the new voice of Zavala. He's done an incredible job as always
I really like that they included Eliksni citizens in the cutscenes.
Crow: Mara!
Mara: I'm here, brother!
That was so gold
I stopped playing Destiny 2 ages ago, but I used to write fanfics of an alternate universe where Cayde and Crow met and I am so happy to see most of those headcanons come to life in front of me
I can’t believe I missed Zavala talking to his wife like that
"Because we got bigger problems. Bigger, weirder problems."
*_Destiny 2 Servers: Allow me to introduce myself_*
I missed cutscenes 7, and 8 because of the server issues. You're a lifesaver
You can replay the missions and watch them again, that's what I had to do for the cade cutscene
Hey is it just me or is there some deep voices that are hard to decipher in the background of the second cutscene right after the Traveler unfinalizes earth?
What a shitty way to make people not pay 50 bucks for expansion fully but to make them pay nearly double so that they can see the whole story once they have you by sunken cost fallacy since you are already invested.
just stop buying them, I know you think it's a good game but 95% of Destiny 2 is the story now, the gameplay hasn't done anything in 10 years besides one or two new sub classes
Ok so basically the witness is Lord Business and the traveler is his Kragle😮😆
what a comparison lol, strangely accurate tho
I never saw the first 5 cutscenes from errors. Thanks man.
I appreciate it. My fireteam is rowdy and I missed a lot of dialogue.
Imagine how Praedyth is feeling right about now
I must say, as someone who has never played Destiny, the lore was always interesting.
And all I said to him was
"There is no way you're winning."
In my mind, this is where you lost.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Also, in the raid the Witness outrite states the the Winnower exists and that they (the Witness) are the first knife, impling that the unvailing lore book is at least partially true, meaning that the "game of flowers" is still ongoing.
@@kostiskampouris3415 I'm aware of large implications because of my brother and my own interest in The Witness, I was just expressing what my expectations were and how I saw The Final Shape rather than what Bungie ultimately decided to do.
I love seeing all of this but i just wish i could play the red war again i miss it truly
29:43 A single Person just told us how to kill the witness.
So from what im understanding, Riven sent Cayde inside the Traveller after he died?
No, it's actually explained in one of the missions. Crow was thinking about Cayde when he went through the wish portal at the end of last season. So essentially he accidentally wished Cayde back.
@Zoomii5 It makes me wonder, what's the monkey's paw this time? Will he now be forever denied that peace he originally had?
Or did Riven skip the paw this time, as her own way apologizing to Crow for her past actions toward him? "One last wish, Little Light, as a final apology to you."
I don't know much about Ahamkara so I'm not sure if they're even capable of a "free wish", so to speak.
she revived him years after he died

33:45 between the narration from Queen Mara and the music score, that final scene was *chefs kiss*
Literally got error codes right before Cade and Zavala hugged. Completely just ruined the moment. Years of waiting for tht moment and it was robbed. Insane
thank you for this, i got curranted out of a couple 😔
I BEG someone to tell me that there is a full version of the melody that the fallen plays on the guitar!
I can't believe how seamless Keith David plays zavala compared to Lance Reddick. Hope I got the name right.
Seamless my foot. He’s terrible.
We’re about to send in EVERYTHING we have against the Witness!!🔥😎
eso you are such a goat thank you so much man
I love how genuinely angry the witness sounds after Iconoclasm. It’s probably the first time in billions of years that it’s been harmed in any conceivable way.
For my load in mission cutscene it was me and my friends, one had a pyramid ship, the other was a dragon, and mine was a GALAGA ship, watching all of those ships crash was really funny lol
I didn't even notice until I saw someone else play through the campaign but I'm pretty sure I missed cutscene 7 at launch
Without that cutscene it felt like Zavala was kinda quick to trust something all of us had seen for the first time during the strike lol
Thank you so much for this video
That Contacting Destiny Servers was basically "The witness is nearing the final shape"
Cutscene 3 is probably my favorite cutscene from this franchise ever, showing what the witness wants the final shape to be and how he wants to rewrite history. Giving the first people to discover the traveler prismatic powers and undoing all that was done after it
“The analytical part of me wants to examine it…..but I know it has no content”
34:53 THATS THE SAME SWORD WE SEE ON OUR OWN GRAVE IN CORRIDORS OF TIME
Lol what if this whole time our favorite weapon Saint 14 mentioned wasn't the Bastion, but actually Ergo Sum? Some people already have it and it seems to be a one of a kind weird sword and the lore it has is quite interesting.
What's the song for cutscene 12?
“You are unworthy of SALVATION!” That line goes hard
My fireteam leader skipped the final cut scenes because it was their alt character. So i didn't get to see them. Im so fucking pissed.
I walked away when they robbed us of payed content i.e. “sunset.”
A part of me wishes I never played at all.
I spent *years* playing destiny since the moment it first released.
So many *amazing* memories I’ll never forget, which is why it pains me beyond belief to see the corporate greed destroy what could have been a beautiful decade long adventure.
Farewell destiny, you won’t be missed…
32:16 that's what calus saw that made him bleed
That’s it?
In game the story is way longer, not to mention the story after the raid
I’m sorry but the witness looks like an animated Pixar character, can’t get invested in any of this
Thank you so much! I got errored out of the cutscenes right after Requiem!
That was literally crazy. I don’t even know what to say.
I missed the 2nd intro cutscene completely. Was waiting for the whole raid/final mission wondering where the final shape city/last earth scene was and Mara saying he's initialising it. Clears up so much confusion since launch.
So the witness plan was Infinite Tsukoniomi? space madara?!
Dude I’m come to love crows character journey and where he is now, the scene where he talk
about Amanda you can feel
the pain and the love.
Can I say we lost a legend who voiced zavala but we gained another! Very bittersweet
Honestly in my opinion the Final Shape is the best expansion we’ve gotten in the Destiny universe the character development, the environment, storytelling, the cutscenes and the music everything is just incredible and I reckon it was a perfect conclusion to the light and darkness saga thank you Bungie🫡🤩😎
got sent to orbit *just* before zavala first saw cayde. thanks bud!
Just wanted to comment on how amazing this expansion is. I want to do my part in letting others know that besides the server issues, this is Bungie's GREATEST expansion ever put out. The negative reviews on steam are going to change in the coming days when people actually get to play. So for anyone out there on the fence about getting this, if you have the money go ahead and buy it. You will NOT be disappointed.
Thank you, Eso. For showing TH-cam the greatness of this story.
