I just picked up my 8r in blue this past weekend, and absolutely loving it!! I’ve always been a Honda CBR 600 guy, ever since my first bike the F3 back in the late 90’s, but I love the Suzuki change! Plus this bike is easier on my back after a few hours. lol
Based on the tuning that's already being done with the 8S/8R, the power gains with a full exhaust and flash is 9-10 horsepower and a whopping 10 ft-lb torque. Sounds mean too. Akrapovic, M4, Mivv, and other brands offer full systems. 2wheeldynoworks has an extremely well developed tune for these.
I just bought this. It's good for bigger & taller guys too. Not sure if that was brought up but I looked forever to find a bike that I didn't feel stupid and uncomfy on .
It seems more like a sport tourer with a more relaxed riding position. The R7 is more track bike focused with full adjustable suspension, which the 8r doesn't. I doubt this is killing an R7 on track days.
For 2025 Suzuki replaced the silver and red with the black color 8R they had in Europe last year to the US. It’s mean looking. The blue is still available and it’s stunning too.
Had the pleasure to run into Ray today ...at Plano Kawasaki Suzuki ... great time visiting with you my friend...and this bike looks way better in person...that blue pops !!
I have one preordered. Just waiting on delivery. You're the 1st one I've seen riding one in the wild. Thank you for the experience. It is a beautiful bike.
I have the 8s and love it, so easy to ride and so quick at legal speeds and really good on fuel. 8r looks fantastic hopefully I’ll be able to test ride one in the spring.
Hey from Canada Ray! I rode the GSX-8S last year and it was a delight so I can only imagine this bike will be just as sweet. I'd like to demo this when available. It won't replace my speed triple 1050 rs but could be fun bike still. Keep up the great work. Cheers and see you on Tonit too!
Theyve corned the market and set a standard for all other fully faired twin street bikes. Comfortable. Stacked with tech. Nice dash. Awesome motor. Great sound and handling. They seem to catch lightning in a bottle, and run with it for a while. Takes them a long time to update models but when they do revise something it often sets the standard. Even an old K7 GSXR1000 will wrestle with a new Ducati on circuit.
I absolutely love this bike. I've gone from a GSXR6 to R1, to HD Bobber, to HD Street Glide Special, back to the R8. It's so much fun to use in traffic, around town, on what little twisites we have down south here.
Haha love the enthusiasm making me anxious to get mine! Getting this coming in as my first sport bike this week, gonna take it slow getting practice courses and practicing slow maneuvering on it before I hit the road.
Awesome bike your getting! Thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻. Stay in Touch StudMuf- let me know how much you love that bike- your in for a treat!!!!
@@RayBowdenRides I have to go ride bike for myself. This year's birthday present is a new bike and I am looking really hard at this category of engine displacement. Everything from this to the mt 09 looks extra wicked this year
I've heard this bike uncorked, and it's a typical 270° parallel twin, with a great booming sound. Also importantly, it's picked up as much as 10-11 horsepower and a whopping 9-10 ft-lb torque with the tune. Looking at about 86-88 hp at the wheel, and 62-64 ft-lb. The bikes going to be a great all-rounder. Street, track, commute, trips.
Great Clip!!! Just Bought this in the silver/white ,Your clip helped that decision :) This bike offers alot for all levels of riders,Even us, as in me, 64 year old that love this type of machine, Great Clip keep em coming

Great review Ray, glad to hear the opinion of a mature and honest rider who sees beyond horsepower. Looking forward to try this bike when it arrives at the local dealership. Potentially my first-ever bike, who knows. Previously, I was looking at the RS660, but reliability concerns and the worst dealership I’ve been into made me look at the other less powerful, but exciting bikes (I know the CBR650R and Daytona 660 exist, but c'mon, they’re not as good as Suzuki out of the box, and, at least to me, are less exciting). Some straight pipe and an ECU flash will make this bike stand out even more. Daytona 660 is also an option I’m looking forward to try, but damn these guys kinda overlooked the overall build quality. Here in the EU, we have strong speed regulations and not-so-highway style infrastructure, I believe there is no need to buy a 4-cylinder 170+ hp bike and suffer in the city jams or potentially lose your license. I just want an exiting sport bike for daily use and commute, but with a spicy twist that this engine provides with torque.
My sister lived in Carrollton for 10 years, so a lot of that area looks so familiar. Thanks for the review, a local dealer has the Yellow on sale for the same price as the R7. The one thing I've been a little hard pressed to find are the factory bhp and torque numbers, so I was glad that you added them in. I don't wanna get too nutty, so 85 is a good solid number.
I'm curious why Suzuki labeled it with the GSXR label when it closer resembles an updated SV650. Great video! You got a new sub here. Also, my brother got the R7 last season. I'd love to see them side by side comared.
It's not all about horse power. You have a video RevZilla recently uploaded about that. These bikes have lots of lots end torque. Power is delivered differently than traditional 4 cylinder bikes that need to be revved high to get strong pull. Basically, from my experience, bike that has slightly less total power but is 2cyl 270crank and setup for low rpm pull will be more usable, fun (street riding), and will launch quicker than bike with 4 cylinder and slightly more power. Was always riding 4 cylinder bikes until I went mt07 which has more than double less HP than my usual 4cylinder bike. Practice and theory are different things here. All the best. 👍
Demo'ed the 8S late last year & was sure that I was going to buy on this year. Dunno now, the 8R looks like all that and more! Love the name, Gixx8er.😀 Thanks for the video!
Man the Aprilia 660 is a Very Very Special bike - that's a tough one, you probably could do clip ons , my only concern there is they might get into the Tank , you'll have to go look at one really close and see what you think. Sorry I don't have definitive answers. Just trying to be honest.
Would you consider doing a video later in the year ranking the 2024 bikes? I ride a '20 CBR500R but will be getting my unrestricted licence next year, currently leaning towards the RS660 as of now, thanks Ray👍🏻

Great video again…. Who is the target market for this bike? Is it the beginner ? At 82-83 HP many won’t like it… Tourque is good for everyday use….Great video as usual…. Keep them coming
If you want the better Suzuki bike, get the naked GSX-S1000 or full sport GSX-R1000. There is no comparison to the Z900 or the MT09. Both the Suzukis are better bikes. Honestly, I would stay away from this 8S or 8R unless you are financially strapped or a beginner rider. I rode both versions the 8S and 8R and its very underwhelming, but that is the nature of these twin cylinders. If you are an experienced rider, go for the 1000cc class.
Hey mate seeing this bike has really made me wish I waited, I just purchased a gsx s750, even though I love the bike and its so good to ride but damn I so want to get my hands on this weapon... great video mate keep it up
It's Definitely more sportier, but it's super Comfortable too!! Hey thanks for watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻, Stay in touch and let me know what you do!! Hopefully we Talk again soon.
Much rather have this than the R7. I like the styling and larger CC engine for a deeper note. I’d get some adjustable rear sets so it would corner deeper.
Depends Gsx8R is more hp and a AWESOME package- i think the 8r is almost 20 hp more - But don't take anything away from the 650 it is a AWESOME bike as well , really depends on what your wanting to spend .and where your at in terms of years riding.
In all honesty, the handle bars not being like super sport was the deal breaker for me. I'm sure the aftermarket will fit that issue soon enough though.
I just bought the silver and red over the yellow I like it better felt the tank would get crazy scratched with the yellow. Still keeping my Drz400sm but excited to get this bike in a week!!
I am waiting for this bike to come 2 Turkiye. I was between r7 and ninja 650. I am 42 years old and new on 2 wheels. I have a little experience on r3 /r25. I am really happy with it but not comfortable with the seating position (lower back pain lol) and punchiness. I guess this bike will suits my everyday needs. If I was 20 years younger I definitely choose r7 bc ir seems more agile and more fun. But I need sth more relaxed, comfy and definitely with more tech like tcs, driving modes etc. I guess, if somebody is on sport touring market (not supersport and long legged types like multistrada or xr) and aiming for kawasaki ninja 1000sx or h2sx. I guess this can be their best stop before jumping these bikes. At least I am thinking like that. What are your thoughts? Great review btw. Subbed.
I don't think I'll get access to a r7 but if I do for sure! The R7 is a way more aggressive riding position! Hey thanks for watching and Commenting my friend!
This thing looks awesome. I'm missing the DFW area, this video popped up, I started watching, and I was like, hey that is my area, then I remembered I live in Houston now. LOL, great looking bike though.
750 four cylinder is a very different engine than the 776 twin. If you're looking for similar sound and power production, go for a bigger four, like a Z900 or GSX-S1000. If you want to get into a twin but want more power than the 750, you'll have to go for a KTM 890 or 990.
@lifted_above thanks for advise, I'm in NZ so will check the gsx8r out when it gets here in a few months. Keen to try a change to a twin. Will try the duke 890GP at the same time. Cheers
I have had mine for about a week and a half, haven't noticed any heavy clutch. I just did 200+ miles around Houston this evening and no issues whatsoever.
Mannn it looks so nice! I've only gotten my R3 for about 1+month and have already been eyeing some mid sized bikes lol. But i currently live in the city and have to street park, considering getting it once I move somewhere with a garage
Why can’t they put that tft screen on the gsx-s1000. You can’t even see the screen on that bike and you would think they would’ve put a color tft display on their liter bike.
nice looking bike...but defiantly needs exhuast upgrade, sounds like a Tractor. And why they make those Number Plates stick so far out, that would have to be taken off/shortened. Nice colour. R7's have nothing to worry about Tho.
All part of regulations bud , specially for the EU , the part that has to stick out .from the back it shouldnt be the tire but something else. , but we all swap it out once we get our bikes here
@GeNeTiXZRVG Yes Tail tidy, and they have already put one on one of these at the store I believe, Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻, Ride safe and don't be a stranger.
Looks nice, one of the better looking new bikes coming out. But can’t get past the paralell twin. Should be a triple or inline four. Also, its 2024…Cruise Control on every streetbike!!! Come on!! If HD can do it so can the big four japanese manufacturers.
@@RayBowdenRides I'd love to actually sit on both to compare but no dealers where I live have either one. Even more, I'd love to test ride each but, again, no dealers around here allow any test rides. I live in the Virginia Beach area. I depend on accurate reviews from people like yourself for that reason.

im pretty sure that riding position is almost identicle on both bikes. the foot pegs are in the same spot. the only difference may be slightly lower bars, but they are far from uncomfortable. may be the same too.

What is better in your opinion the ninja 650 2025 or the GSX8R 2024?
Depends Gsx8R is more hp and a AWESOME package- i think the 8r is almost 20 hp more - But don't take anything away from the 650 it is a AWESOME bike as well , really depends on what your wanting to spend .and where your at in terms of years riding.
@@RayBowdenRides thank you!
@skidstainz1d your Very Welcome- hope that might help!
@@RayBowdenRides it does. I’m just stuck between 2 bikes lol
@skidstainz1d let me do this video and see if it helps.
In all honesty, the handle bars not being like super sport was the deal breaker for me. I'm sure the aftermarket will fit that issue soon enough though.
Oh yeah! Hey thanks for watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻, Ride safe and don't be a stranger..
Very nice review Ray, that bike is going to be a hot seller!!
I think so Too!! Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻,
That Acura driver probably spent the rest of the day wondering what the heck he did wrong after that horn and flasher demo
Yep🤣, Thanks for Commenting 🙏🏻. Have a AWESOME weekend my friend!!
10,000 views congrats man!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
🙏🏻Thanks my friend!! Thanks to awesome people like yourself. Have a Great 2024!!
Great review Ray; How is the wind protection? Thinking about picking one of these up this spring as my commuter.
the wind is not a big deal with this Bike! it's a definite buy for sure! Go check one out- you won't be disappointed!
I don't know how I missed your Comment, The 400rr is a totally more of a Machine!! Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻
Fun review! Considering trading my gsx1250fa for one, but need to test ride first. The dealership here doesn't have any yet.
I just bought the silver and red over the yellow I like it better felt the tank would get crazy scratched with the yellow. Still keeping my Drz400sm but excited to get this bike in a week!!
Congratulations! Your going to love it, Stay in Touch and let me know what you think!
Subbed.
I think for the money your right on 👍, Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻- Stay in Touch and let me know what you end up doing!!!
I think we will see a redesign for the gsxr1000 soon 🔥
I'm thinking your righr!! Thanks for watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻. Have a Awesome weekend!!
Wind sheild Screen looks a little short but I like think Suzuki got everything else pretty good
Yep! Thanks for being apart of Channel!
I’m picking up the blue one Ray here in KY
Oh cool man Congratulations Van!! Your gonna love it! Let me know what you love about it the most!!
how does the auto shifter work when downshiting?
Great! It's an AWESOME bike, You Won't be Disappointed! Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻. Stay in Touch!!!
Dude you rock! GSX8R vs Kawasaki Z650? Just watched both vids. Honest opinion?
Gsx8R for me, a little more Hp! Thanks for Watching and being apart of the Channel Chris!
There seems to be a consensus that this is a great bike. Thank you for sharing loved your video.
Thanks Danny 🙏🏻, Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend!! Stay in Touch!
If possible, can you make an actual comparo between that bike and R7?
I don't think I'll get access to a r7 but if I do for sure! The R7 is a way more aggressive riding position! Hey thanks for watching and Commenting my friend!
Just bought one !! Amazing !
Yes they are! Talk to you later my friend!
This thing looks awesome. I'm missing the DFW area, this video popped up, I started watching, and I was like, hey that is my area, then I remembered I live in Houston now. LOL, great looking bike though.
Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻, Dallas misses you. Talk again soon hopefully!
Awesome video this bike looks like its going to add some pressure in the market
Thanks Devin for the kind words 🙏🏻, Thanks for watching and Commenting my friend! Ride Safe and don't be a stranger!
Hey Ray, I'm on a 2017 GSX-s 750, big difference in me trading up to the new GSX8R?
The Sreen and Quick shifter are Superb- Really!!
Cheers
That Duke is a Awesome bike too, let me know 🙏🏻
You were speeding. We caught you red handed. Ha ha. Seriously though what a peach. Love the look and it has the punch to match . Well done.!
Thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻, Have a Awesome 2024 John.
Nice bike. If I ever upgrade from my 2022 Ninja 400 KRT...
It's got your name wrote on it. Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻, Ride Safe and don't be a stranger!
I'm really looking forward to the Yamaha R-9 coming out next year maybe with the mt-09 engine
That will be a AWESOME bike.
Sir, I heard from other reviewers that the clutch lever on this bike is on the “heavy” side. Is that true? Thanks in advance!
Paul I didn't notice that, but maybe it's true. I wouldn't agree with that with what I remember. Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻.
I have had mine for about a week and a half, haven't noticed any heavy clutch. I just did 200+ miles around Houston this evening and no issues whatsoever.
I want that bike in that color... I can't wait until they are a year old and I can pick one up as a cheap-ish track bike.
Yep , Thanks for watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻,.
Mannn it looks so nice! I've only gotten my R3 for about 1+month and have already been eyeing some mid sized bikes lol. But i currently live in the city and have to street park, considering getting it once I move somewhere with a garage
Your Very Welcome 🙏🏻, totally understand! Appreciate you Watching and Commenting!!
Why can’t they put that tft screen on the gsx-s1000. You can’t even see the screen on that bike and you would think they would’ve put a color tft display on their liter bike.
That would be the perfect bike with that huh? Thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻. Don't be a Stranger!
" i feel good ! like i knew that you would, now ! "'
nice looking bike...but defiantly needs exhuast upgrade, sounds like a Tractor. And why they make those Number Plates stick so far out, that would have to be taken off/shortened. Nice colour. R7's have nothing to worry about Tho.
Thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻, Ride Safe and have a Awesome 2024 Mark!!
Did you like this better than the gsxs750?
That's a tough one, probably overall no , but parts of it yes!! Thanks for Watching and Commenting 🙏🏻!
Great review 👍🏻
Thanks my friend 🙏🏻
Lol, I love you...the way you said "GIXATER" just killed me!
Thank you 🙏🏻, love your Spirit- Thanks for watching and Commenting my friend, ,Ride safe and don't be a stranger!!
darlin', avert your gaze; Ray's remains are blown away By a Suzuki Wind !
Yes!
Does it have a front stabilizer??
No Doesn't need one , that's just my opinion. You could always ad one.
Is the quickshifter on the downshift as bad as YammieNoob and MotoJitsu say it is?
I sure didn't think so , no!
I definitely think they are exaggerating, the quick shifter down is awesome for me. I love my gsx8r.
@@harleydavidsontherapy1376I’m looking at this also comparing it with MT09 MT07 xsr700 Z900
For the money and what you get ,man it's almost unbeatable I think!
This and new Daytona are a wake call to the R7 and CBR650.
CBR 650 is already updated, with e-clutch, not to mention the upcoming CBR 750R, the R7 however needs to be updated.
For sure , this I believe will be noticeable faster for sure, Thanks for commenting my friend.
Looks nice, one of the better looking new bikes coming out. But can’t get past the paralell twin. Should be a triple or inline four. Also, its 2024…Cruise Control on every streetbike!!! Come on!! If HD can do it so can the big four japanese manufacturers.
Man if it had a cruise also - that would be awesome! Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend🙏🏻. Have a Awesome weekend, Ride safe
I'm thinking that would I would love is to have the 8R bike with the 8S seating position.
DOLPHIN it is Super Comfortable!!! Thanks for watching and Commenting 🙏🏻. RIDE SAFE MY FRIEND.
@dolphinride5157 Thanks for the kind words!! Go to a Suzuki demo Day- maybe they will have one Soon, Dealerships should be getting them soon. Stay in touch and let me know what you came up with👍.
im pretty sure that riding position is almost identicle on both bikes. the foot pegs are in the same spot. the only difference may be slightly lower bars, but they are far from uncomfortable. may be the same too.
how do i love thee ?-- - it has got some go to it !
Great review as always. God bless
Thk you🙏🏻
I am 1.90cm height and 95kg weight. should I be able to ride comfortably
I believe so- Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻.
