  • Today I repotted my rare alocasia and did a little corm hunting! Luckily we were able to find a few forms and I showed how I am propagating them! Come back in a month or so for an update!

I`m very new to Alocasias so any kind of care videos are very welcome. I was always convinced I`d kill them but recently have started experimenting with a few very ordinary ones to see if I can grow them. Looking forward to an update on the corms too when they start to "wake up".

It’s not as scary as people make it sound! They will definitely show you when they aren’t happy, but it’s fixable! Moisture and humidity are the keys

i really enjoyed this video thank you! alocasia are my favorite and i use the same fluval/pon mix and it’s amazing for them. my other plants love it too (philo, homalomena, anthuriums, hoyas and monstera. yucatan princess variegated is fast at producing corms for me too. serendipity pink produces corms the most in fluval/pon and or tree fern but slow at pushing them out.

This is great I'm actually looking at transferring my alocasias to semi-hydro so I found this really informative. Thankyou.

funny your video is Alocasia today, I just ordered a TC variegated Bambino this morning.
I don't understand why some of these plants are so expensive. I bought a Colocasia Light Pillar last year, it wasn't cheap. I now have so many from that one plant I have been digging up the runners and giving them away and there are still more out there. (also Pigtail Princess everywhere). If a single plant can produce in excess of 20 new plants in a single year, the price shouldn't still be as high as it is. At least White Lava clumps so even though it has gone from one to eight, it hasn't spread all over the place.

That’s awesome! I want to start collecting some colocasia as well. Light pillar is on the list, and so is pharaohs mask! I think the finicky nature of alos and colos probably keeps the population down a bit for beginner planters. They can be very moody!

I love watching your videos. I've been moving plants over to Leca and Pon for the past year. I'm liking it and they seem to grow really well. I have a Monstera Albo that really likes Leca. I would like to know where you are getting your self watering pots from. I have some I had ordered a while back and the company has gone out of business. Now I'm in need of more around the 4.5 inch size. Amazon sells some but it seems that they are either too small (3") or too big (5").

I bought the Eccliy brand of these from Amazon. They are 5” but the diameter of the net pot is around 4.5. I bought some 3” and they were crazy small! 😂

Can you do a video on how to care for the serendipity?

I’m still new to plants and ive been getting a lot of rares. I just purchased one a pink variegated serendipity. It’s being shipped in spagnum moss and I want to keep it alive and thriving. Thank you for being willing to help out!!

What do you do with your used stratum?

I’ve let it sunbake before and it’s reusable. Most of the time I just store it in a big trash can along with other old aroid mixes. I use them for bonsai
