      Yes! I guessed with the mutated leaves it may be a slow grower but it has faired rather well!

    Been eying on the pink cuprea as well, awesome find mate! I also recently learned about the Alocasia sanderiana "Nobilis" Pink Variegated. It may be the best Alocasia pink variegations out there afaik

    • @GreenChickGardens
      @GreenChickGardens  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes there are 2 varieties of the variegated Nobilis. Maybe I should try and get my hands on them 🙌🏼

    Love the Venom ... well-named, methinks. Really appreciate when you include your growing strategy, Jeff, esp. substrate. Thanks.

    Hey there! I love your Alocasia collection! I’ve currently converted my Alocasia into Pon. Do you think they will grow better? I definitely would want a baby Alocasia Venom. Do you still have these Alocasia for sale?

    • @GreenChickGardens
      @GreenChickGardens  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes I have one in my Etsy shop! I have basically all of my alos in Pon. Most seem to really like it but I have noticed certain ones have not faired so well. Could just be shock, or not healthy enough when transferred 🤷🏼‍♂️ all in all I think it is a wise move though!

      @@GreenChickGardensthanks for ever response . Have you considered going to the Texas Aroid Show in Houston next month? Lots of rare stuff there. Also, when I transferred my Alocasia Cuprea into Pon her leaves are a bit droopy. Will it have to reestablish itself? Is it normal for Alocasia to decline in health when it’s initially transferred into Pon?

    Hello, do you know if infrared heating good for alocasias?

    • @GreenChickGardens
      @GreenChickGardens  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As in like a heat lamp? I would not recommend this. Is this to keep the temperature higher?

    Can Alocasia’s grow outside in Central Texas, zone 8? I have all mine inside but I would like to have them grow outside.

    • @GreenChickGardens
      @GreenChickGardens  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the spring and summer sure! Winters are going to be too cold for most there. Especially with the crazy winters we’ve been having lately. Certain Colacasia and Alocasia can grow outside in zone 8 but if it is valuable I would be hesitant.

    Some of these plants are not alocasias. The first plant is a colocasia - I've had that variety for over 10 years now. They are closely related colocasias as a rule of thumb get much larger than alocasias and much more cold hardy. I can grow colocasias outside in coastal California throughout the year including Winter, but not alocasias. I also grow some of my colocasia in my pond. The ones in the pond grow a lot larger than the ones I have growing in ponds outside my home. They really love their roots being submerged in water since they evolved in swamps.

      Regal Shield is an alocasia. All 10 of these are alocasia, the last bonus plant is indeed a Colocasia though! Other than that, I agree with your observations on growing habits! Thanks for watching. 😊

    • @wowwow3673
      @wowwow3673 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      regal shield is an alocasia, it grows big and sometimes can adapt to direct sunlight and wet soil like colocasia but it is an alocasia nonetheless. Look at the petiole where it ends at the end of the leaves unlike all colocasia that have the petiole at the middle of their leaves
