    How do you clean the wicks if the pots are in the dishwasher?

      I replace them with new wicks if I plan to repot my plant

    I find putting the plant in stratum and perlite first waiting a few weeks and then switching to pon works best or they get all dramatic on me 😂

      @@RainbowMonsterxx33 perlite is very similar to pon, so it's a nice way to transition. When I transfer, i usually don't give it water right away. That seems to help with mine

      Agreed. Stratum is magic 🪄 and seems to work to jump start just about anything I put in it for any length of time. Lol
      Then they will usually thrive in pon afterwards. 👁️❤️🪴🪴🪴🪴

    Could you do a video on fertilizer. I've heard with pon you need to add extra like cal mag. Silica. I use foliage pro. I have extremely hard well water so I use a zero water filter that's why I add in the cal mag and silica with foliage pro k to give back the extra minerals that I'm missing with my foliage pro in that water but would love to see a video on you and your mom talking about fertilizing with alocasia

      @@wendib6028 Try swapping to foilage focus. It has a good balance of minerals for your plants. Especially with Anthurium, alocasia & Philodendron. Begonia and other varieties don't like it as much. I can certainly touch base on this in a future video. 🥰

    I just got a pink black velvet and many are recommending stratum or pon, but never used it before. The velvet has soil roots. 😅very very nervous. This is my first very rare alocasia.

      @dragonfruit969 personal advice, do the type of planting you're comfortable with. We both use pon alone for mature plants. We only use the stratum and pon for corms and baby plants. You're going to have more sucess doing what you're comfortable and more familiar with.

      @@otaku.plants I never thought of that. This whole week I tried using stratum but rotted my Alocasias, yet I haven't watered it. Thank you for letting me know, many have been trying to convince me to use a different substrate for my pink velvet but I struggle with pon and stratum. This was very helpful, thank you.

      @dragonfruit969 of course, yeah my best advice for everyone, is always do what you're confident & comfortable with. Practice with substrates with other plants you don't mind losing. 😉

    Does this work if you don't use the wick? I have heard Pon pulls a water like a sponge?

      @sj4890 you can use pon without a wick. You just water through the Planter when it's like 90% dry give or take. The wick works perfectly for us though

      I was wondering the same about the roots dying off. I'm thinking maybe after the first month or so you'd have to take the plant out and clean the pon out completely.

      @@thumpaharley7564 once she sees good new roots I believe she typically cleans them off to avoid rot and bacteria growth. It's hard to gauge music volume on my phone. Sorry. It was at a level 3 my moms volume was 400. I will just remove it next time. Thank you

      Hi there. Good question. Yes, I typically give them a few weeks then I remove the plant from Pon and take out all the rotting roots and then I repot. Most of the time if there are a lot of rotting roots I actually just use fresh pon as I find it easier than rooting through the old pon trying to search out all the rotting bits. 😂

      Hi there. My mature bambino is doing extremely well with about a half inch of water in her reservoir now so yes, once mature try a bit of water and see how she does. I get a bit of edema but nothing serious for the most part.

      @jaxsonn4 I leave mine dry until the pon itself dries out or until the edema subsides. She leaves the reservoir dry and never fills it. She will pour water through her pot once a week give or take. Did that answer the question? You're so welcome. I am glad the advice was helpful. 🥰

    Have you had issues with mold growing on top of the pon? I don't think it's ever overly wet but yet you can see the white pore layer on top.... thoughts?

      @Laura-Ransan yes! I am dealing with this on like 4 of my bigger plants in pon. I've tried EVERYTHING. Next I'm going to do a mineral flush. When it dries out. Or hydrogenperoxide spray down! It is driving me crazy. I plan to do a video about pon and flushing etc

      Hi there. I find if you look under the leaves on silver dragons or dragon scales you can see edema very clearly. It’s like water logging on the edges of your leaves. 🌸

    I just got an maharani albo last week and i put it in pon. I have noticed that the roots are a little bit brownish.. is this normal? The water isn’t touching the roots. It’s right below the roots. I’m scared it’s going to die😢 the leaf seems to be doing fine though

      @thaniacisneros5785 I don't like brown roots. But it could be killing off the old roots to make space for new ones. Keep checking on the stem. If it gets less stiff, then it's probably not doing well. Maybe give it a day to dry up a little. Then refill the basin. It's hard to day really. If the leaf looks okay, I'd say, give it time. But I also don't want to give you incorrect information.

      @thaniacisneros5785 if keep it in pon! Alocasia seem to thrive in pon. Just put it in pon. Spray with a little fresh water and leave it until the next day. Needs to dry a little. Then refill with fresh water

    4:08 I grow my corms in pon ❤. No stress them when I repot.
    I do use stratum sometimes.
