👍I absolutely love her! She’s a dying breed....a doctor who has not sold her soul to the system to make a buck!!! We need more real doctors like this! Bless you and thank you! 🤗💞🤗
Cheers for this, been searching for "malaise and fatigue definition" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Qiyia Ziyichael Booster - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my m8 got amazing success with it.
@@LifeTheBasicManual You seem like a Dr who listens to patients. There is a new form of cortisol replacement therapy available with liquid cortisol threw an insulin pump. With the pump you can replicate ones actual cortisol curve and circadian rhythm. The results of this treatment option are incredible. I was bedridden for the past 3 years untill a week ago. Oral cortisol did absolutely nothing for me . There groups of people online advocating for this form of treatment. A group of engineers made a " cortisol curve plotting tool" where you can punch in your millilitres of medication per hour and then shows you your predicted curve. You then program those basal rates into the pump and that's it. Then you can do a 24 urine test and see what your actual curve looks like and tweak it with the basal rates on the pump. Yet hardly any doctors no about this nor will they listen. My doctor say the science behind it immediately and was on board with me. Its changed my life 100 % in a matter of weeks.
@@joshwhitney7463 I am so happy to see someone is better! Thank you for sharing your experience. I was wondering if you showed a abnormal cortisol test or not? All my "basic" panels all show normal. No inflammation, normal cortisol, normal everything except for low vitamin D. Not unusual but I take supplements for vitamin D and other supporting supplements for vitamin D.
How incredibly refreshing, a real doctor. Right: I'll get the book and go through the metabolic hinterland. Thank you Dr. Myhill, you're terrific. Life saving stuff.
Agreed, now THIS is a doctor! Finally! I'm doing paleo now for the last week, cut out all fruit, all grains, fruit and grains have been screwing my body up totally. :/
I did this diet for a month, I was shaking , dizzy, weak, came up in rashes, felt like I was going to die..Cut out all fruit too, then had to have a banana and I was feeling amazing, after all that effort I didn't lose weight I put it on, it worked for me a decade ago but not now..
Same here, felt worse than ever before, no energy, lost 4 kilos to serious underweight levels went to see a proper dietitian and hd to pick up carbs straight away. My body was just exhausted and couldnt digest all the fat...took some time to recover!
Venice 111 I’m into my fifth week and I’ve had problems with it too,my insomnia is off the charts .I think it’s putting a strain on my adrenal glands as well .I’m doing everything I possibly can to correct things ,including drinking electrolyte drinks but to no avail .This diet is not universal for everyone is it and what about the long term effects of ketosis. It’s going to take some time for a picture to emerge from this . Check out Anne Louise Gittleman’s TH-cam channel ,She argues that the keto diet is only meant for short term use and could put a strain on the pancreas .Apparently she’s got some ex keto clients coming through now who are complaining of pancreatitis, that’s pretty unsettling.
Thank you soooo much Sarah ,I'm trying so hard to change my diet and will make sure I get it right, I've been quite ill for many years and all my Doctor has done is put me on very strong pain killers (Tramadol) my diet has been so bad !! But at last I can feel the change in myself it's so simple 'I've taken myself off the pain killers now and boy that was hard but feeling so much better with the change of my diet , keep the good work up , you are helping so many people 'thank you
My CFS seemed to have started around the time last year's flu shot took 7 months, have gone on a serious keto diet with intermittent fasting and my symptoms cleared up - got another flu shot this year...my viral symptoms came back. I've started wondering if there is a connection. Now, the regime had cleared up other issues, (leaky gut, insulin resistance, etc.) but I've been feeling weak, tired ill since the shot. I came across your website, and finally found somebody else who sees a connection between the two...so I will be checking out your videos. Many thanks!
Hi Heather, I got way worse after a flu shot a few years back. Never again! Sorry to hear you've had the same experience. There's a good facebook group called Support For Dr. Myhill's Protocol that you might get useful experience and advice in. Sian, LTBM team member
Very compelling dialogue, thankyou. Not totally sold on Keto but you make a darn good case for it. What concerns me is whether or not it take any other unknown tolls on our health such as heart disease.
Dr. Myhill, you are absolutely wonderful. Thank you. Just bought your P-K Cookbook and a scale. Really looking forward to trying your bread recipe! I've experimented with many diets (vegetarian, vegan, raw, Keto, Paleo) and various detox regimens (juice, bone-broth, specific organ cleanses) and, for me, missing the satisfying experience of good bread has always pulled me back into the 'land of carbs and sugar' as you rightly put it. So eager to test if homemade flax 'bread' to see if it solves the missing piece of the puzzle. You are so inspiring! ~ Ziji
Any advice how I could adapt this diet as a vegan ? I already quit the dairy and processed foods, and am currently losing the sugar and lots of carbs. And suffer from cfs/me.
Dr. Myhill says the diet is perfectly possible for vegans - just needs more thought and work. I'd suggest posting in the Support For Followerers Of Dr Myhill facebook group - lots of good first hand experience to be had there. Sian, LTBM team member
Great no-nonsense explanation of keto/paleo. However is Dr Myhill advocating the carbs-in-autumn-only pattern, or cycling on and off carbs (eg sweet potato, berries) all year?
I have a hard time believing keto is healthy in the long run, when one has to get on supplements in order for gallbladder and kidneys to work right. I've heard of so many people who have to have their gallbladder taken out because of keto and kidney stones. I personally couldn't sleep on keto... Heart racing all night.
I put on weight easily when I eat too many carbs and felt at my best when I was on the Atkins diet, but got scared because of so much negativity about a diet high in animal fat. Its hard to know what to believe. Some people eat a lot of carbs and stay slim, or can eat whatever they like. People are different genetically, I wish it really was this simple.
The oil comment is partly correctly. Oils to use when frying as in sauteing are avacado, coconut and EVO. As long as they are not smoking they will remain stable with coconut being the most stable out of the lot. After smoking they turn to trans fats
I don't really agree on her diet ideas for several reasons, but definitely the overeating of carbs, especially refined, non stop, is a huge problem, but also overeating in general.
Anyone had severe insomnia on this keto diet ? I’ve noticed no benefit whatsoever,I’m packing it in ,it’s killing me.Just a quick check on Dr Eric Berg’s channel under keto insomnia and there’s quite a few people complaining about it. Apparently women of childbearing age are more prone to problems from it ,we needs carbs around a certain part of the cycle I believe. It seems this diet has too many variables that could go wrong .I’m getting the hell out before it kills me ,never ever have I experienced insomnia like this on a carb diet .Personally I think we need carbs ,extreme diets concern me .
Not a fan of too much processed meat to be honest. I eat lots of veg now, chicken and berries. 3 months in and I'm still exhausted! I do have Addisons Disease though so it's mainly down to my Adrenal Glands
I was on the Keto diet for over 2 months, finally, I had to give it up as I discovered that I became nauseous after ingesting fats due to the fact I have no gallbladder. I bought digestive enzymes and Ox bile but they didn't work for me. Any thoughts on that?
I don’t have a gall bladder and I’m doing great, so I think it’s another reason.... search dr berg and this question on you tube he will have the answer
What about constipation, this is a real problem on the paleo keto diet. I'm sure others are experiencing this too. What is the reason? Liver congestion not producing enough bile?
Is this safe for someone with low blood sugar? I've heard that keto and low carb can push people into adrenal fatigue also and as someone with severe M.E. already it's kind of scary to think of possibly getting worse. There's so much conflicting reports, I have no idea what is best. One person says that keto is good, another say it could make it worse. I remember trying low carb/atkins a long time ago and I felt so much worse and gave up after a month, since my energy was so low, felt so faint, but eating lots of fat and protein.
It's all so damn confusing Jenn isn't it? So much conflicting advice. One thing I do know - when I eat sugary foods I get worse. I crave them for sure. I guess we are all different - and maybe what works for one doesn't work for all? Sian, LTBM team member
I was severe, and I jumped straight into ketogenic. Not smart I got that detox hard haha. I wouldn't jump straight into keto. I'd slowly adopt to lower and lower carbs and make the transition that way. Not so much of a shock on the body :) I'm writing a blog about my experience getting better too
Theres loads of research showing saturated fat increases gut permeability and LPS levels. This cuts at the core of your theory that carbs cause leaky gut and fats dont. Thoughts? If one were to remain on a plant based diet, what suggestions would you make to reduce fermentation? Thanks, I do appreciate your expertise and authenticity.
Sorry Timmy - for both the late response and my lack of an informed reply - we're not experts - best to ask that question in the Support For The Followers Of Dr Myhill's facebook group.
I ordered some Leaf lard, thank you! What's the best way to proceed when the body can't metabolise fats very well and diarrhoea won't quit on the ketogenic diet?
I don't know Georgia, but I will forward your comment to Dr. Myhill and she if she has anything to add. She is on annual leave at present, so that may take a few days. Sian, LTBM team member
Thanks Sian, I'd really appreciate that. I'm having a really hard time trying to work out what to eat. I have intolerances too so I've had to cut out a lot of foods, and cotton, leather and rubber to boot!
The first step in fat digestion is bile, which emulsifies fat (breaks into small particles). Bile is produced by the liver using cholesterol as one of the raw materials. To check if that is your problem, see if you notice any improvement by taking ox bile supplement with fatty meals (perhaps with digestive enzymes). Its a familiar problem to those who had gallbladder removed.
good question Sam - I don't have the answer - but Dr. Myhill has laid out her position in several books and papers. Her website, drmyhill.co.uk, is a good source of further information. Sian, LTBM team member
I mentioned this too, these people who claim to know it all and write and sell books are all jumping on the keto bandwagon. None of them talk about the incredible health and longevity of the Kitavans, Okinawans and Tsimane tribes. Who live on 80%+ starchy complex carbohydrates and minimal amounts of sea food. I don't really think you could avoid eventually developing some vitamin deficiencies as a vegan without taking vitamin pills. Most people feel better at first, because the standard American diet is so full of processed food and lacking in fruit & veg. Can this be done vegan or at least vego?
Dr Myhill believes so Jasmin - just takes more thought and work.
Jasmin P. Wall There us a book called “Ketotarian” by Will Cole. I believe this will help. It’s a gorgeous book. Good luck!
How do I do this as a Vegan?

Avocadoes, and avocado oil, nuts, seeds, coconut oil, olives. You can find plenty of references on youtube for keto-vegan diet ideas.
can it be done on a whole food plant based diet?
yes
I don't really think you could avoid eventually developing some vitamin deficiencies as a vegan without taking vitamin pills. Most people feel better at first, because the standard American diet is so full of processed food and lacking in fruit & veg. Seeds and nuts still have enough carbs to keep you from going into ketosis, anyway. You can't really live indefinitely off of avocados, coconuts, and olives. Pacific peoples combined the coconut with a lot of fish, some pork, and other tropical plants like breadfruit when available. Vegetarianism, which allows dairy and eggs, would make it a lot more possible to do low carb.

This sounds feasible
It really is! I have CFS and I'm on a low income, but I've been on the diet for over three months.
