Sorry to say but I think the tick goes away because when the rpm goes above 1500 rpm and that's when more oil gets splashed onto your lifter bearings. A former Chrysler mechanic of over 10 years experience that now has his own TH-cam channel says that the oil should be changed according to the hours run and not the miles done. Excessive idling is what causes the tick to start in the first place as the lifter bearings are getting oil starved at low rpm. The oil that is on the bearings starts breaking down when idling and eventually the wear starts, until the rpm increases over 1500 and fresh oil is splashed on the lifter bearings. I'm in the process of buying a 300C 6.4 Hemi, but this issue has got me thinking twice about it.
I see your point, but I always know when to add more because the engine starts to tick again. A few days ago I noticed the tick at a red light, added some when I got home and the tick is gone again. lol
I have a 2016 6.4L Scatpack with 98,000 miles on it and have had the hemi tick since new. Doesn't matter what you do and believe me I've tried all the recommendations. It's only heard at low RPM and not noticeable until after the engine warms up. Every expert out there has been unable to figure it out or never replies to my questions. Even Dodge says it's normal until it's not...I hope it never causes an engine issue but I do have an extended warranty for another 10,000 miles if it does. Keeping my fingers crossed!
@@dougwatson6406 That sounds like the manifold bolt problem the hemi has. You won’t hear the tick at high rpm or when the truck warms up bc the metal heats up and joins.
I really hope that’s the case . Put a new bbk header to cut my crap manifold bolts from breaking . Now I hear that tick . Engine runs fine and strong . No prior noise befor bbk.

Worked for me so far. I had a loud tick in my 2015 ram 1500, seemed to be running really rough just once after that it was just a tick that would come and go with no consistency. Dodge dealer said it was exhaust manifold. After replacing both manifolds al little over a month later it came back. I changed the oil and switched to synthetic and it went away for a couple weeks. Came across this video and thought why not I've got nothing to loose. One quick trip to Canadian Tire and the tick appears to be gone again. For $20 it's well worth a try before spending a pile of money. Thanks for the tip.
Guy I have to tell you.its a placebo effect.sounds the same to me.and if gas additives changes the tick.its not the hemi tick.its your injectors .hemi tick is in the lifters
I'm not sure how valid your video is - the tick only really happens when the engine is cold with no oil in the upper cylinder / lifter areas. Once warm with some oil splashing up into the lifters the ticking goes away. Don't get me wrong though - I'm going to use this product and also the Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer! I'm also not using the advice in the owner's manual of 5W-20 oil - only 5W-30!!!! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
In my 2017 ram 1500 RT I've been using Lucas gas treatment in every tank since new it is cheap insurance and better mileage and exhaust has no residue or blackness in the tailpipe Burns pure clean it does work 100% to keep your engine running at its top efficiency. 😒 20, 000 mi on her so far.👍
It is possible you have a noisy fuel injector but it would take a lot more Lucas and a longer time period to effect this tick than you allowed. The other tick possibility besides lifter is a cracked exhaust manifold that seal up when hot!
The chances of you pouring that in the tank and it making it to the injectors in 30 seconds is basically impossible. I have the exact problem with my Hemi GC. It ticks for about 5 min after cold start and completely disappears after warmup. It can also be quelled with a quick rev before fully warming up. I love Lucas products, but come on dude, this demo proved nothing. I achieve the same results every morning with just the engine rev a couple minutes after starting it.
@@rdallas81 Enough time for what? That thick stuff to settle to the bottom of the tank, mix with the gas enough to thin out and travel up 14 feet of fuel line at idle??
its from revving try getting a real good oil pump replacement to pump oil higher into the engine that's the solution otherwise the parts will fail soon
I wonder if it works for horses pulling a wagon? My horses make an ticking sound like your wagoneer. I get about 2 miles per kilo of hay but they are thirsty when I step on the pedal.
Revving it past 1500 throws oil around and silences it, which is what the tick is and why idling these engines is what wears the cam down when the lifter is bad.
That’s a bunch of bull ive own my ram hemi for 12 years and I’ve idle it a shit load cause it’s cold here in winter hasn’t hurt it at all I just do early oil changes
I have a 2012 1500 5.7 and have used it for for ten years now to do wireless internet installs that requires me to idle the truck almost all day to keep the inverters going for testing. After 220,000 miles I have no tick at all.
Wow really?! I have a 2019 ram 1500 and I hate that noise I already took it to the dealership and they replace some stuff ( I don't really believe that ) and they told me the noise is totally normal 😅
Dog I doubt you check this anymore but no additive will ever the hemi tick . You have to replace the lifters and probably the cam. But that is not what you have. You have busted exhaust manifold bolts. It gets less obviously when you drive more because the block heated up and expanded so it meets with the manifold better. No shit the real hemi tick it bad because if you're lifters get bad enough the valves don't open and close as they should and that's bad if the exhaust can't get out.
this worked on my ram 2500 5.7, the thing is that if this worked, this specific tick is not produced by the terrible and expensive lifters-camshaft problems, anyone knows why this works? valves cushions? thanks-.
Hahah I can still hear the tick either way. Dude these hemis make a ticking noise no matter what. If it sounds like complete shit… it’s lifters. If it’s consistent and very noticeable but not horrible sounding, it’s manifold bolt replacement time. But they also just tick naturally
Upon further thought it might be a good thing they used undersized low grade bolts. Better the bolt break than the exhaust manifold🤔if you use a mechanic and can't fix crap yourself they gonna be in there anyways time wise and bolts are cheaper than a busted eye on and having to totally replacing the exhaust manifold... Or ruining the block and having to drill the hole out in the manifold and block and rethreading it. I guess it's a thought out trade off we get for not having to haul around a steel block... Aluminum yields and loses ton of strength when she gets hot so it would probably pull the threads. Wholly crap Dodge engineers are smarty pants 🤣

The tick went away because of revving which increased oil pressure, not from fuel additive.
Once the engine warms up, the noise goes away. It's after its fully warmed up and it ticks, then it may be an issue.
The "tick" is mainly the injectors pulsing. Most just automatically think, it's the lifters and cam.
