    Africa needs to be careful about working with China and USA. I think it would be more beneficial for African countries should rather borrow or invest in each other and become more like Europe because African countries are connected to each other like Europe. Being exploited is still a risk

      Indeed. It's a place you can make an awful lot of money if you've got a good business idea, because it's a market of over 200 million people, and even though it has a thriving economy, there are still numerous product and service sectors with high demand and low competition.

    To state that African business lacks "dynamism" but is based on "entrenched legacy fortunes" requires a proper re-education of the journalist on how African entrepreneurs actually operate. Sadly, too many Western journalists see Africa through insular prisms that are blind to the grit, marketing skills and tenacity of African business people - whether they be the amazing Kenyan woman that sells tomatoes at the local market or the Tanzanian billionaire that has to navigate regulatory, macroeconomic and political risks that none of their Western counterparts have either the intellect or stones to handle.

      Very true. Africans are tenacious. We can even survive without foreign aid. I guess it is our mentality that's why we lag behind in terms of development in sectors like education and health.

    The way this clown is talking you'd think these countries run fly by night unregulated stock exchanges. The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has the same rules and requirements as any globally relevant stock index. Furthermore it is audited by KPMG. so what are you talking about??

      Whilst I agree that the NSE has rules and requirements, I think the main point he was trying to make is 2% free float makes it very easy to manipulate the value of a company and the NSE should not have allowed that… however, they did.

      You do not have no idea what Dangote has built with his debt. Refinery, Fertilizer company, Cement, sugar and the list goes on. He is the sole supplier of sugar, cement and his refinery will be serving over 200 million Nigerians and environs.
