nice video. How do you make the "zoom in to the right" effect at 7:48?
Thank you! You can use a custom animation to apply that effect. Simply drag the Custom Animation from the Animation side bar onto the clip you wish to zoom in on. The left side (smaller side) of the arrow will be the starting point where it's zoomed out, then move your cursor over the right side of the arrow (the tip of the arrow should turn red) and you can change the properties of your clip to be scaled larger, and moved on the canvas so it shows just what you want. Then when you play the clip from the beginning of the animation it will show your zoom. Make the animation as short or as long as you like!
How do you hide your desktop and show only the camtasia logo at the desktop. Looks cool. Thank you for a lovely video. I am a beginner.

In order to clear your desktop (Windows) you would Right-click on your desktop -> Choose View - > And deselect Show Desktop Icons. You can 'bring them back" by repeating the same steps.
Showing the logo is just a Camtasia Wallpaper I use for my presentations, webinars, and tutorials :)
Wonderful video for a first-timer. Quick question: Do I need to keep the .tscproj file once I have converted it to a .mp4?
Most people like to keep it so that they can go back and edit the project if they ever make any changes. Do you need to? No. Once your mp4 is created, it's safe outside of the .tscproj, but you won't ever be able to go back and make changes without re-recording your video.
@@techsmith can we get 4k file option under local files?
If your project settings are 4k, then your default export option will be 4k. Are you trying to upconvert from 1080p or is something else going on? Are you on Camtasia 2019 or 2020?
@@techsmith I m using camtasia 2019 . Actually I was working on a 4k video & after editing only 1080p option was available under local file.
@@KnowledgePlusind That's odd. I would double-check your Project Settings and make sure they didn't somehow get changed on you. If the project is 4k, so will the export. If you double-checked, and it's still causing you trouble, you may need to write up a support ticket as that's not how it's supposed to function: bit.ly/ts-gethelp (please be patient as our support team is currently 3-4 days out from responding to new tickets).
hi Camtasia, I have some problems myself with the quality of the videos recorded in Camtasia. The video is always a bit grainy / blurry. That doesn't look very nice on TH-cam. Is there a setting I need to adjust? I would like to hear from you! regards, Lars ^ I am using Camtasia 2021
Are you making sure that your recording size is 16:9 (either 1920x1080 or 1280x720 or larger?). If you make a small size recording and then try to edit it in a larger space (scaling it up for example) it will distort. The other thing to consider is if you're video looks fine in Camtasia but grainy on TH-cam, make sure that your TH-cam settings are set to view at the highest quality. TH-cam throttles your playback quality based on your internet speed.
I want to create only MP4 format files when sharing videos on Camtasia. Creating an mp4 format is complicated by creating too many files. Is there any setting to make only one file of mp4?
Absolutely! Watch around the 19:34 minute mark where Jason chooses to save it as a Local File and select the MP4 Only option (and choose your resolution). I hope that helps!
I need to know how to switch from screen to cam recording during a recording. I am on a trial version now
During recording you won't switch, it's recording everything on both your camera and your screen, and then you decide while editing which you want to show at any given time. (including picture-in-picture)

What would the F10 equivalent on a MacBook be?
The default is set to "Option+Cmd+2" however you can go into your Camtasia Preferences and under the "Shortcuts" tab customize it to whatever works best for you!
My Condenser mic will not work with Camtasia. Works fine when I use obs.. it says mic is connected but it will not pic up voice

3.47 Why is your Audio longer than your Screen Recording..? I have this problem often, too
Your question sent me (Andy from TechSmith) on a bit of a journey. I've noticed it as well, but since it was minor it never bothered me. I thought maybe the video (fps) were recording at a different rate from the audio (kHz), but it turns out to be much simpler than that: sometimes Camtasia doesn't quite stop the audio and video recordings at the exact same time.
That's it.
It's a known thing on the developer side (not even sure it qualifies as a 'bug'), and may be something they work on in the future, but as it's not really negatively affecting projects in the meantime (please let us know if it IS negatively affecting projects) it's not been addressed yet.

Is there a list of Shortcuts ?
Of course! Go into the Preferences (from the File menu) then "Shortcuts" ands then on the left choose "Timeline Navigation" and you can set your own timeline shortcuts for there, or learn our default ones.
@@techsmith TYSM but i dont see any shortcut in ''Timeline Editing '' Section that ''plays from start'' or something similar. Can I create a shortcut ?
Not "Timeline Editing" go down one to "Timeline Navigation." You'll see "Move Playhead to Beginning" as well as other similar ones.

I cant play the recording when I click the preview/play button
You may need to drag your media/recording to the timeline if it's not already there. You can also hit the spacebar to play/pause. pressing f10 will not stop my recording. I have to pull up the task bar and click stop which shows up in my video :( Also, can I edit my video and then resume recording?
Resuming recording will start a new recording, and if you're only pausing (to make one clip instead of multiples) then you cannot edit the clip you've started.
As far as F10, Camtasia 2019 and newer have customizable shortcut keys so you can make that a different shortcut so that it works for you.

You can customize your hotkeys to be a different one if that doesn't work. Go to your Preferences, then Shortcuts, then Recorder Options to change it.

It is for both Windows and Mac (one license can be on two computers, even cross-platform) but it is not free. You can have a 30 day free trial, but anything you export during the free trial has a full-screen watermark. Nope, Camtasia is $249 USD. There's a free trial for 30 days to see if it's the tool for you before purchasing (but anything you export during that trial has a watermark).

Premiere can't record your screen. ;) And Camtasia isn't going to edit any feature films. They're different products to be sure, each with some similarities.
