    I put this new version up a couple weeks ago. I was having a lot of trouble keeping a solid signal on a high VHF channel 11 which is a local CBS repeater about 48 miles away. This antenna gave me considerable improvement with the only signal issues during bad weather. I am going to work on tilting the antenna as shown in the video as well as raise my height a few feet to see if I can get this station locked in. Overall this antenna is well made and has improved my signal on all our channels.

    Put this antenna up a month ago with a rotator. Replaced a huge channel master which was at least twice the size. Picking up channels the Channel Master did not. Live 55 Miles from Indy, 60 miles from Louisville and 80 miles from Cincinnati. Picking up many extremely solid signals (both VHF-HI and UHF) from Indy and Louisville and around 4 main channels w/subs from Cincinatti. This is one impressive antenna in a compact package.

    I had tried three other antennas and the reception I got from those antennas were just horrible. I bought this antenna based on the reviews I saw on this channel. The result? I couldn't be happier! It pulled in all the local channels I had hoped to receive with the exception of the PBS station located 30 miles away from my location. This antenna is well constructed and gives me excellent picture quality on all channels. Actually, the quality is much better than what the cable TV provider gave me.
    My only advice is to watch a couple of videos that show how to assemble it before you start to put it together. Even with the videos, written instructions, and an able helper, I still had to redo some things 3 times before I got them right. But I am easily confused.😃

    Thanks for the video, far prefer a TH-cam than a printed page.
    Bought this new version making sure it was an 84 & not the last year 83 model.
    This antenna is actually replacing a Ellipse Mix that I purchased last year. Reason is 2 towers 68 miles away located within 3 directional degrees which is close. The Ellipse Mix was good but would sometimes lose 1 of the signals at the end point of advertised range which is 60 miles. Hoping for better with this model. It will feed the wife's bedroom TV which is an absolute necessity. 😧
    The Ellipse Mix will be repositioned to feed the living room TV which requires only local within 40 miles & will only be 10' in height.
    I'm a cord cutter from way back & do not pay for satellite or cable preferring to stream 100% myself in the Cave.
    Next year will grab her a TV capable of the new Stage 3 similar to my 75" Sony Bravia X90J. The Google O/S on a smart TV is lovely.

    Great video - the instructdional video is well done, for those assembling this watching it before doing the assembly definitely would be a good idea. The performance numbers speak for themselves. I'm relatively close to broadcast towers in my area (12-15 miles) so I don't need this king of long-range antenna, but if I did live further away and had trouble getting channels, I'd definitely consider this antenna. I was kind of surprised on its size, I hadn't realized how big it is until the part of the assembly where they show mounting it on the mast.

    I think I will buy this one. I just got a cheap Amazon 30 dollar antenna that works fair so this should really do the trick. I cut the cable cord years ago not because I couldn't afford it but because they are to expensive for what you get

    This to me is a very good antenna. I guess if you are all thumbs you may have a little trouble with the assembly. I hired a professional painter to go up on my roof and complete the assembly. All of a sudden it looks like the antenna has been discontinued. What is that all about? I guess my friends will have to continue paying $ 200.00 to 300.00 a month in cable bills.

    awesome video. this antenna got recommended for my area in northern michigan by antenna man, and with your great words about it I'm totally sold. I'm wondering if I picks up 360 deg or only what its aiming at

    • @EarlBalentine
      @EarlBalentine 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a directional antenna so you have to point it exactly the right direction. Like 282 degrees or 160 degrees, You have to use a compass and the direction from a antenna map app to get the exact aim.

    • @SolidSignalNovi
      @SolidSignalNovi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nowhere does the video say which end to point, large end towards TV tower or small end towards TV tower?

    • @SolidSignalNovi
      @SolidSignalNovi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As it's shown in the static image for this video, the right side, with the three large booms, faces toward the tower.

    • @kensmith5694
      @kensmith5694 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On all TV antennas, the short horizontal elements are on the end that goes towards the transmitter. If your TV or tuner has a signal meter, it is worth tuning to a station you want to give priority to and fine tuning the pointing of the antenna to get the best signal. Antennas like this one have a fairly narrow focus. This works to your advantage because it stops interference from messing up your signals.

    • @SolidSignalNovi
      @SolidSignalNovi  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In your other comment you are talking about the distribution amplifier and in this one you are talking about the preamplifier. The preamp in this antenna is built into the antenna itself. The white box that comes with it is the power injector. That box can be in the basement, yes.

    Bought a data boss mix VHF/UHF antenna from them. Picks up a lot of stations but I lost my local channel 6 and story TV channel watched both a lot. For $130. I was better off with my cheap Home Depot antenna. What is going on? I can’t get an answer from anybody. They don’t have a phone Televes it’s not easy to contact. They are in Spain. I would definitely never buy another one.

    • @ronwilliams329
      @ronwilliams329 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's because the channel you're describing is on the low VHF band. This antenna is high VHF. Since you have your "cheap Home Depot antenna", install it on a mast and get yourself an A/B switch so you can select the appropriate antenna. This doesn't cost very much at all but is the solution to go with instead of purchasing another antenna that gives you this one channel.
      I actually run 2 antennas myself. I have basically this antenna (upgraded version, low/high VHF) plus another brand of antenna so I can capture signals from two different TV markets which are in 2 completely different directions. Both mounted high up on a utility pole using an additional 20' mast.

    This video is well done. The only thing I would change is at time=18.43 and step 15, if this white colored device is supposed to be inside the home, say so. It is unclear to me. I do not own this antenna, and I have no way of knowing exactly where this white colored device is supposed to be located, inside the home or outside the home? The only other thing is I am assuming this is for model # 149884? I have read, "149884 (Replaces 149883)". So my assumption is I want to buy the, "Model 149884"? Unless there is a newer version of the Model #149884?
