Ballast Work at Train Mountain Spring Awakening 2023

A crew of volunteers use 7.5 inch gauge hopper cars to haul ballast as they work to stabilize a section of mainline on the longest model railroad in the world.

Good question. We’re in the forest. It’s a fire prevention thing and required if we’re to operate in fire season.
