Gotta have WHITE pepper (not black or ground) & BUTTER (not Marg) in yr mashed potatoes old mate & I'd also use fresh Thyme (not lemon thyme savoury thyme) along with your rosemary but loved the vid mate beautiful family meal all the best champion.

      Hey Neville,
Really appreciate the feedback, just trying to create a video on what I available in the generic camp kitchen. Your adjustments to the recipe are fantastic and love that you joined in on the journey.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching this cook up. I have cooked lamb shanks in a camp oven before but I have to confess that they were the prepared ones from the supermarket. I did add vegetables to the cook and roasted the potatoes rather than mash them so as to make the washing up easier in a real bush camp setting. It was great to watch how you did it from scratch.

      Hey Robert,
Thanks for touching base, Its always nice to get outdoors and cook on the campfire. The shanks are a great hearty option. I would normally do the same as you for the exact same reason with the potatoes, there is something about cooking in the ashes that makes them that much better.
Just thought i would change it up a little for the viewers.
Keep cooking mate and thanks for touching base.

I’m camping out the back with my two boys tonight.
Will be having this for dinner.
    Thank you!
An enjoyable video to watch without the rubbish talk like most videos you watch these days.
Would like to see more :)

I absolutely love watching you when hanging out at your Sisters gorgeous property down in Ballina. I adore that area, Alstonville in particular. It's so stunningly gorgeous. I love their home and yard/pool and firepit and undercover deck area. The food you make is so deliciously simple, hearty and substantial. You are such a sweet uncle and very relaxed with the kids. Also your fishing vids with your Daddy-O are lovely and so down to earth and relatable. I'm sure the family all appreciate you very much. (Few wines in so a bit soppy soz 🤣) Go uncle Steve X Danielle
P.s if ONLY you would use the back of your knife to scrape from the board to the pan gahhh!!! 😖 Also, correction: cask wine is delicious (after 3 glasses of decent wine)

      Thanks Danielle,
Yes its a pretty special part of the country that's for sure.
I like to keep it simple when cooking as we should just let the ingredients do their work, and not overcomplicate their natural flavours.
Dad is a pretty cool dude we have been fishing and hunting since as far back as i can remember, But that's what you get growing up in country NSW. Great times.
      Thanks for touching base.

Where did you get the fire pit from? I’m after a decent size like that. What size is it if you don’t mind
