  • Basic recipe for white crusty bread, baked in the camp oven. My uncle Ted used to be a village baker for 50 years, and these are his tips to successful bread baking.
It doesn't matter which oven you use to bake your bread, the important thing is to get your heat right.
As you can see, there is no need to use bread tins inside a camp oven, just put the dough straight into the dutch oven and bake until golden brown.
I am using charcoal briquettes to show you a fail safe and easy method with even heat distribution.
Happy baking and "Get it Indaya".

Ranger Nick l cook bread in camp ovens before . But l have used bread flour. I seen your uncle Teds bread recipe on Y Tube. I see you used plan flour.I thought I have to give this a go.Thinking using plan flour the bread would turn out heavy. Well how wrong was I. I used uncle Teds and your instructions.
This is best bread I have ever made also one of the easiest to make. This is the only bread recipe I be using.👍
    Thanks Ranger Nick

@Net Income Results, would love to come to Tassie however, it depends on the powers to be and legislation around access to school.

If you do exactly what I did, you'll get exactly the same result. Enjoy Uncle Ted's bread!

Hi Craig, no extra beads but try using a wind break. The wind will fuel the coals and make them too hot.

Maybe a little too much heat in the centre of the lid, try to put it more to the outside.
