    I remember all of those toys. I especially remember the pog craze. My favorite on the list was the Creepy Crawlers. My friend had one, and I was always making mine with the glow-in-the-dark goo. During the holidays, when stores ran out of Tickle-Me-Elmos, some parents would turn violent.

    Can anyone talk about toys these days without mentioning "oppressive gender stereotypes"? Its a fucking toy, the last thing the kid is thinking about while playing with it is its sociological impact. Most girls like dolls, most boys like trucks, get over it. Its completely natural; parents buy the toys their kids wants, they don't force gender-specific toys on them to cement their respective gender roles,

    • @chriss.9398
      @chriss.9398 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I know people are so politically correct and sensitive these days. It annoys me like no other. The people who market these toys have no ulterior motive other than making money and selling as many as possible by marketing to the correct demographic. You are right it is up to the parents to decide what is best and ask the kids what they want to play with. Anyone who has a problem with that and wants to be someone else's parents can go fuck themselves into oblivion.

    • @Krndancedance
      @Krndancedance 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're right, it's clearly becaues of evolution that boys would be genetically predisposed to enjoy playing with a model of something that's only existed for around 70 years.

    • @Croiisssant
      @Croiisssant 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      True. My sister was a tomboy and she always wanted the boy toys. She never pointed out how the commercials only had boys on them, she just said "I WANT THAT!". She got boy toys for xmas and her birthday (as well as girl toys)..People need to realise that kids don't care

    Why is everyone so against gender stereotypes?
    It's a thing our culture does; make kids grow up with the same interests as other people with our gender, that doesn't mean we have to abolish toys aimed at a certain gender.
    It just means we need to accept the kids who's personalities don't match their gender.

    • @eraserheadarts
      @eraserheadarts 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I guess they make kids who don't fit the mould feel abnormal. It was like that for me. Growing up, I hated playing with "girly toys" and instead played with Action Men, soldiers, spy gadgets, video games, etc. I also wore t-shirts and jeans rather than dresses/skirts. People at school always assumed I wanted to be a boy. I didn't... I just wore and played with what I liked. It didn't mean I didn't want to be a girl. I always felt shit though... like I wasn't a "normal" girl, and also made me want to hang around boys more because I just assumed that all girls only liked boring, pretty, dainty things. Of course, that's not true at all.

    • @RealRainbowRapidash
      @RealRainbowRapidash 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't see why children can't have both: I loved playing with Barbies and mini kitchen sets when I was younger, but I enjoyed Nerf guns and Hot Wheels too. Sure, I liked dressing Barbies up a little more, but where's the fun if kids can't dabble with both?

      I had an easy bake oven. To me that stuff tasted pretty good. I also had beanie babies, pokemon cards, and dr horrible lab stuff where you make creepy gooey stuff that was edible. I dunno I think more girls were interested in the easy bake and barbies that is why it was marketed to them. I didnt care because i just like to make food lol You have to know your main demographic if you are selling a product.

    I have a rage inducing story involving a school and Pokemon cards. I was walking with friends after school talking about a sweet deck that took me weeks to build (I was eight at the time). We stop in front of the school because a friend had to tie his shoe. Then the freaking assistant principal walked up to me, and took my cards! I was upset because school had been over for more than two hours, and me and friends were walking by the school because I lived nearby, and the neighborhood was pretty cool. It took me a long while to save up the money to buy the cards because I didn't get an allowance as a kid. This was bullshit because school was long over by then... (It's been over fifteen years and I'm still a bit annoyed by it)

    Uh
    Not too sure what to write here so heres a recipe for Pancakes instead
    Ingredients:
    1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    3 tablespoons sugar
    1 tablespoon baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/8 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
    2 large eggs, at room temperature
    1 1/4 cups milk, at room temperature
    1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    3 tablespoons unsalted butter, plus more as needed
    Now to make it
    1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
    2. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then whisk in the milk and vanilla.
    3. Melt the butter in a large cast iron skillet or griddle over medium heat.
    4. Whisk the butter into the milk mixture. Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture, and whisk until a thick batter is just formed
    5. Keeping the skillet at medium heat, ladle about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the skillet, to make a pancake. Make 1 or 2 more pancakes, taking care to keep them evenly spaced apart. Cook, until bubbles break the surface of the pancakes, and the undersides are golden brown, about 2 minutes. Flip with a spatula and cook about 1 minute more on the second side. Serve immediately or transfer to a platter and cover loosely with foil to keep warm. Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
    6. Procedure for adding fruit to pancakes: Once the bubbles break the surface of the pancakes, scatter the surface with sliced or diced fruit, or chocolate chips, nuts, etc. Flip with a spatula and cook for 1 minute more, being careful not to burn toppings.

    Aww yeah son! This is what's good! My brother had custody of the Nerf balls and Pogs. I had a Furby named Cla Da but I could never keep my Tamagotchi alive. I got a hundred Teeny Beanies but only one full size. My gen 1 PokeMon cards are still in their binder. A part of me still lives in the 90s and always will.

    Furby always reminded me of gizmo from gremlins. I named mine Dallas.
    That easy bake oven was such a con I don't know how either my mom or me thought getting one was a good idea to get one.
