    When you realize no one really gives a damn if you drive a van or not, vans simply offer superior utility and function than SUVs. The "cool" factor is such a dumb reason to dismiss vans completely. They're better than SUVs in offering more cargo space, and better than pickup trucks for stuffing more people.

      Used to love my full size truck. Recently swapped for a Sienna and have been loving life. Literally nobody asks what I drive, and the people who make comments, well, I don’t see them driving a car at this price point anyway.

    • @DamnManSam

      Being that all of my immediate family fits in my Full size truck, I find it hard to give up the Bed and its utility. However, if I had two more kids, a van like this would be a serious possibility for me.

    • @DamnManSam
      @DamnManSam หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@efonwang well, in our line of work we carry stands and pipes for large back grounds. We carry assistants inside the truck as well, so every thing fitting on the bed leaves plenty of room for everyone in long trips.
      We also have some land were we are building our new home, so we go off road on the truck. I wouldn’t let go of truck ever. I love full size trucks, but I would get rid of our SUV in favor of a van if our family was larger. Right now it doesn’t make much sense.

    After fighting with suvs for a couple of years with kids and car seats, finally gave in and bought a 2011 Sienna XLE. I'm absolutely blown away as to how comfortable our trips have become. Smooth, absorbs crappy roads perfectly, and SO MUCH ROOM. Everything about this car makes practical sense. Will never own another SUV until the kids are out! If you have two or more car seats, PLEASE GET A VAN.

      @@jigs8437 You probably have inefficient driving habits. I have a Touring XT Subaru Outback that has a turbo and it's rated 23/30, but I average 30-34 mpg per tank without interstate driving. I can sometimes get low 40s on the interstate during the summer. Get 35 mpg on the highway with a V6 Toyota Highlander. And no, you don't need to drive slow. You could probably get 50 mpg in that Sienna.

    What I don't get is why didn't they leave the 3.5L V6 as a more affordable base option? they still would've sold the hybrid well and kept the older gen owners ready to replace their older Sienna's with a V6 now they are moving to the Honda Odyssey with its 3.5L NA V6 - 10spd or the Kia Carnival with its 3.5L V6 - 8spd or the OPTION IF THEY WANT a Hybrid 1.6L i-4 TC 6spd.
    Toyota could've afford to keep the 3.5L V6 with all those I-4 sales with credits.
    Or maybe have a 3.5L V6 Hybrid option with a real geared transmission kind of like what they did on the Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX (HECK that exact powertrain would've worked better) with it's 2.4L I-4 TC 362HP/400lb-ft and 6spd AWD as a Premium option (PERFECT FOR LONG HIGHWAY TRIPS) then forcing customers with ANEMIC ENGINE AND A ECVT THAT DRONES HORRIBLY!!!
    (it gets really old hearing that ECVT on a long highway speed trips with the family to the point that the kids noticed the noise from the transmission and were complaining about it)
    It's a good powertrain but it isn't for everyone that's my issue give another option.

Children and pets die every year because they are accidentally left in hot cars. You say you don’t know how that can happen. Maybe you are lucky enough not to work several jobs and be sleep deprived every day….and that one day you take your child to daycare instead of your spouse and you forget and your world changes forever…..it happens and it happens to good parents. It’s not a joke and not a matter to be taken lightly. It is my understanding that Toyota is making this feature standard on all siennas of all trims. Toyota should be applauded for this. Savaggeese did a video on this a few weeks ago. Watch it.

    We’ve only had our Sienna for a couple of weeks but I almost took it back to the dealer when we realized it does NOT have a spare tire. Not even a donut! We live in a rural area with heavy snow. I could easily get stranded on a dirt road with a flat. Not a good “feature” to exclude and the dealer never mentioned it. Seriously, selling a van without a spare is a safety issue.

    Question on the interior safety feature where it notify or honk the horn when you leave someone or animal in the car. Many times, I'd leave my wife/kids in the car briefly at night or in cool weather so I can go to the store to pick up something. Or when she doesn't want to tag along in hardware store. Can I or an adult inside the car turn that feature off in that situation or there's no way of turning it off?

    As a diabetic for 25 years. I can honestly say I still forget my insulin at home sometimes and that’s life or death for me. I totally sympathize with people who accidentally leave a kid in a car. That being said. If I ever leave my son in the car on accident I would fully expect to be in jail forever.

    I don’t think we can ever win with black or white. The black door panel eventually gets tough sunscreen and skin stains, the white gets grey and brown stains. Though I will say our companies Hyundai tester is decent at that but the trade off is having the worst feeling plastic you could touch. Feels like gym shorts cross bred with a plastic soda bottle.
