I rented a Kia Carnival last week and drove it for 3,800 kilometers in Canada. I was amazed by its smooth driving and advanced features. It’s very spacious for a family. My family loved it, and I’m planning to buy it in the future. ❤❤
For someone buying Minivan, Cargo space behind 3rd row matters. Carnival has way larger Space compared to Sienna. Therefore Carnival is the winner for me.
Kind of surprised you fellas did not speak to the occupant detection system which is new in state of the art, And new to Toyota. A huge standard safety system
@ talking about abandoned vehicle with warnings to automated phone text warnings and if no response in 10.min a call to 911 via automated message with GPS location. This is most advanced yet.
This is great. Thank you for giving us this. Just a suggestion to make it more comprehensive for future reviews of family vans. Try to get some kids at the passenger seats at the back during road tests and ask them for their feedback on the comfort level, entertainment features (to keep them distracted), etc. while you guys are driving. You can ask them which of the two they like better. Front seats are pretty comfortable with all the features and whatnot. If I'll be buying a family van, I don't buy one just for myself, but also for my kiddos who are the real reason why I'll buy one. After all, they are "family" vans. Also, include the safety features between the two in the future. Cheers! ☺
Kbb had a short adult do this and I agree that was missing here. Great suggestion but I’d prefer the brothers weigh in from those seats while other one drives
Two months ago I & my wife traveled from CA to MN along 2000 Sienna (round trip, about 4,000 miles), absolutely No any problem. Always thank our sienna. The key point would be RELIABILTY & LONGEVITY.
Great video, guys! This comparison is great! The Carnival came out not long after I bought my '21 Sienna, and I went and looked at them just to see. Regardless of tech and splitting hairs over cargo and what not, what affects me the most when I travel, whether it be around town or long-distance, is fuel economy. The Sienna won hands down. Top it off with AWD and, believe it or not, nice towing characteristics, and I don't see how it gets much better. Sorry, but I'm not impressed by big screens or fancy wheels. What I need is a good way to get myself and my family around.
In Vietnam, a KIA Carnival with full options costs about 70k, while a Toy Sienna costs about 200k. So Carnival is the best choice if you want a MPV for your farmily :)))
If buying new and if you want a van for people and better tech, Kia wins. Better warranty and better seats and options. But if buying used then sienna may be better option due to reliability. It's a tough choice.
What about driver assist features like cruise control and highway driver assistance? Highlighting ancient technology like vacuum cleaner, cooling compartment, and storage seems like a stretch when considering a $7.5k up front price difference.
Head to head didn’t they address this and cite that they equal out? This vid was more of a head to head vs a full feature deep dive so guessing there are aspects you sound more familiar with where they differ, yes? So is it that the Kia has advanced features lacking on the Toyota? Would appreciate any insights you have to share since our daily is literally test driving currently better these two hybrid minivans. Thank you!
Just Picked up my 2025 Sienna XSE black on black on black, love it! Great gas mileage with reliability and holds it value like you wouldn’t believe, Carnival can kick rocks! 😎
I hate doing this, but I must point out that SIENNA was misspelled on the thumbnail…😖 Sorry, I can’t help it… OCD taking over… Great review though. My money would go to the Sienna.
When will Kia fix the battery drain issues for Carnivals once and for all for all owners? Warranty isn't so useful if people's cars keep sitting at the dealers.
Price points awarded don’t take into account the added features the Sienna has over the Carnival: hybrid, AWD, vacuum, cool box. You should take that into account when valuing the price difference.
That's nice but I could also get a fully electric Kia EV9 and get all of that with an option package I don't really like minivans although they are nice but I'm not such of a minivan fan
Besides long term reliability and AWD/gas mileage I really don't think the Sienna really has much over Kia. Kia is making some really nice cars. Having said that, long term car to take my family across the state etc? There's no other car I trust more than a Toyota.
What? Reliability, Drivetrain, and gas mileage are gigantic factors for most families. Usually the biggest factors, actually. Kia loves to be flashy no doubt.
But reliability is #1 unless you are leasing. The Kia is the better vehicle except for reliability, and the 2.5L naturally aspirated hybrid drivetrain and eCVT transmission on the Sienna is proven and bulletproof.
@@dsturbed2c If you dig into the reliability of these models, the Carnival is more reliable than the Sienna. As a make, Toyota has better reliability than Kia, but the Sienna is not their best work. Of course, the customer perception, based on make reliability, undeniably helps resale on the Sienna. Each has problems that are frequently complained about. For Sienna, it's leaky skylights, and for Carnival, it's battery drain. However, you can find issues for any vehicle.
Theta II engines that burned oil right around 100k for Kia/Hyundai will spook people for a long time. Then, you have a higher car insurance rates due to the Kia/Hyundai thefts. And the new Carnival, gas and hybrid, has a battery drain issue. Will you wake up with a working vehicle in the morning, or are you going to need a jump? Or possibly even a new battery? And dealerships have been holding on to Carnivals for WEEKS trying to diagnose the component draining the battery. The Kia dealership would have to offer me 60% the price of a similar level Sienna before I would buy one. I don't care what technology is in it, or how much better I feel it looks. The reliability is not there.
I find the Sienna pretty ugly. But I'd still consider it because of reliability, but here in Canada, waiting time for a Sienna is over 2 years. That's ridiculous. No way I'm waiting that long for a car...
toyota is so overrated ! i always laugh at the resale value opinions , of course youll get more when you trade it in thats because you paid wayyy more for it off the get go , down the line with a 4 cyl motor in that big vehicule no one will be talking about reliablity cause it will be dead

Then your family buy Toyota sienna. 😂
I think Kia looks better, but Toyota definitely carries better quality, but I will say Kia has their quality getting better year over year
i switched 2016 sienna limited to 2024 carnival sxp. now it is over 50k mileage but has been never regret to having this change.
For someone buying Minivan, Cargo space behind 3rd row matters. Carnival has way larger Space compared to Sienna. Therefore Carnival is the winner for me.
I don't Like that the new sienna can't fold the 2nd row down.
Longevity Sienna All The Way!!!
I would prefer Toyota I drive for living and there is lot more to see in vehicle than a cargo space. Can KIA last 300K? Without any issues?
Sienna has AWD option, so that’s the one for me.
Kind of surprised you fellas did not speak to the occupant detection system which is new in state of the art, And new to Toyota. A huge standard safety system
My 2022 Carnival already had that...
@ talking about abandoned vehicle with warnings to automated phone text warnings and if no response in 10.min a call to 911 via automated message with GPS location. This is most advanced yet.
Useless technology
And probably needs a subscription to work...
@ nope…. they don’t do that on safety related equipment they do on discretionary entertainment and convenience stuff sorry nice try

I used the toyota inventory website to do my research. waited 3 months for a 2024 platinum
I was considering the Kia until they said that it doesn’t have an AWD option. The Sienna is the winner for me.

Not applicable for all. Some people change car often. If you want to keep your car 4ever then buy toyota
동구가 사기치지말자 시에나는 무슨 흉기차 악플만 다는거 같은디
Nice comparison! Been waiting for this one
Its about reliability SIENNA wins
Definitely 💯 Toyota you can count on Toyota but KIA I doubt it will last 100K and Toyota can easily take you $300 without any issues
Myth😊
Seat side airbags in second row is the reason the seats cannot be removed. +.5 😊
The only thing toyota was lacking was the technology. With the new infotainment system, it’s not even a competition. sienna all day
I like that they shape the carnival almost like a palisade
Aren’t palisade and carnival sibling platforms?
Just so you know, I love your guys' vids! keep up the great work :)
Thank you! Will do!
Fantastic head to head video! Thank you for such a thorough rundown!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The Toyota Sienna is a solid choice! It's got that spacious interior and great for families or road trips.

Toyota Sienna always the Winner to all other Minivans and unlike Kia Toyota has better Fuel Milage
TOYOTA THE CHAMPS ALL DAY EVERY DAY 😎😎
100% getting one this Weekend!

What about the driver assist package on the Carnival that can drive itself on pre-mapped highways? Thats a big feature.
What about driver assist features like cruise control and highway driver assistance? Highlighting ancient technology like vacuum cleaner, cooling compartment, and storage seems like a stretch when considering a $7.5k up front price difference.
this 100%. the self drive/cruise control feature on carnival is tesla level for pre-mapped highways.

Kia is garbage

I love both of them especially the sienna but the Carnival is not bad at all ❤️

Fantastic review. Just curious really bad: what vehicle were you in at the end of the video with orange looking seats? Thank you folks.
Third time the charm? looking at the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit edition actually looks to be correct. Sorry for all the wrong guesses up front.
Thanks! It's a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2025 (review coming soon)
Which one will last 20 years?
Which one has longer range?
Which one has better resale value?
Kia Carnival
Nah i dont keep my car for that long. I’ll go for kia.
Thanks for the info
Thanks you very much for the information but awd sienna is the best and it has awd and it has fridge and built in vacuum.
Not even comparable. Sienna all the time.
Toyota is also increasing Sienna production by 20%
The new sienna roof is too low. I cannot even get in without ducking.
@@YTYTYTY7it’s not like you can get into the carnival without ducking😂
How dare anyone call the kia a “minivan”!
It’s an MPV, people.
Not if you have a full car and going uphill at the slightest incline. Van is struggling and RPMs sound Iike hamsters yelling for help!! LOL.
Price points awarded don’t take into account the added features the Sienna has over the Carnival: hybrid, AWD, vacuum, cool box. You should take that into account when valuing the price difference.
That's what all the rest of the points are for
Tri-state area adding $3K dealer adjustment for Sienna.
For me, no second row bench seat is deal breaker
How about an occasional video either towing or loaded w/people or gear
That's nice but I could also get a fully electric Kia EV9 and get all of that with an option package I don't really like minivans although they are nice but I'm not such of a minivan fan
