Mario Party Lost Bits was one of the first I ever made in this series, and, since the series has grown and evolved since then, and with the recent hype of Mario Party Superstars, I wanted to revisit the Mario Party that started it all and cover some things that I didn't back in 2017! This includes some more unused graphics, features as well as text strings! Hope you enjoy!

That unused text about limited stars seems to line up quite well with the gameplay of Sonic Shuffle, which Hudson also made.
I wouldn't be surprised if most of the concepts in Sonic Shuffle were unpolished Betaconcepts from Mario Party.

Maybe the unused Bob-Omb flags could have also been used as a placeholder for the “Shy Guy Says”
minigame when developing.
I think it was actually probably associated with the Bob-ombs in Wario's Battle Canyon. Because there are both black Bob-ombs and red Bob-ombs (Bob-omb buddies)
Well that does seem pretty likely although why would he put up a bob-omb flag if he’s not gonna be throwing one at the player but it is entirely possible that it could have been a place over until the final texture was completed
@@matthewbob_moostachepants5563 maybe the original plan was instead of cutting the rope, the shy guy would instead throw red or black bob-ombs at the CPU or player.
The most logical theory is that the N64DD expansion eventually became Mario Party 2, which makes sense
N64DD was dead by the time Mario Party came out.
Mario Party 2 was released as a way to minimize harm from the lawsuits related to the joy stock spinning games in Mario Party 1.

Wario's "Oh my God!" is just too funny to remove, but I can see why Nintendo would think people would be offended.
Considering the outrage at the DK Raps use of word Hell (one hell of a guy) I can pretty much guarantee a very vocal minority would make a big fuss over it. It's always been weird to me what people consider cussing and not cussing. I had an English teacher that let students use the word crap but gave me detention for the phrase 'hell no' (granted we didn't always get along otherwise). Fortunately the detention teacher was pretty cool about it and let me leave early since she agreed it was utter BS. When I first heard people were upset about the DK rap using a swear word I presumed they meant the censored ass (if he shoots yer *** it's gonna hurt) but apparently that part was perfectly fine as if we didn't know what the word was (I was pretty spacy as a kid and I knew).
Given how one of the text strings you mentioned emphasizes looking for the last Star, I noticed something: Mario Party 5 has several extra modes, with one of them being Card Party. It's basically a truncated Mario Party board w/o Minigames, but the interesting bit is that the "finite Stars" thing is used in this mode! Card Party ends when all the Star Cards have been uncovered, so to think a scrapped idea would find its way into the game anyway all these years later!
Yeah that'd be cool if it was reworked into that!

As a European Mario Party player, it does feel very strange to look at Mario Party 1 videos with Musical Mushroom and Balloon Burst, and not having Move To The Mambo playing. Makes me feel very lucky that we got this regional exclusive track.

I have a feeling that the strange wooden room at 13:24 is maybe what remains of the unused chance time when it comes to an actual model, but maybe time will tell for this one.
considering the mushrooms are the same color as the special dice blocks from the shop, i'm guessing they would have had a similar effect to them. the purple-ish one could be the plus block, good for coin block bash, the green one seems to correlate with the speed block, which could be an extra treasure for treasure divers, and a red one, which correlates with the minus block, potentially as a penalty.

I have a feeling "Move to the Mambo" was actually supposed to be a placeholder song and it wasn't until it was being localized for North America that they found out it was playing in the final version and changed it to already existing songs that might've already been planned to have played in those minigames.
This video makes me wanna play every single Mario Party again. Once again Tetra has uploaded a masterpiece 🙏

When the game was under development they probably built the Engine using assets from Mario 64 and any other Assets they had sitting around.

Since the boards have stories to them it would make sense that they planned to have limited stars

I actually find it interesting how there was possibly going to be releases of the DD in other countries (if the specific language text strings are anything to go by), and if I remember correctly, somebody like Hard4Games or someone else found an American DD unit? That was like four or five years ago at this point, so I could be misremembering.

Once again excellent video, Tetra! 👍 Nice to see you do an updated video from the original one almost half-a-decade ago, as well as in celebration for the release of Mario Party: Superstars! 😃 I actually knew that the samba track was strangely cut exclusively in the North American release of Mario Party for some time now thanks to a TH-cam channel called “Censored Gaming” which I highly recommend checking out since they discuss changes made to video games (and sometimes other forms of entertainment) around the world as well as during development. 😉 Although, I do agree that it’s so odd that ONLY the North American version of MP replaced the catchy samba music with tracks that are already in the game, whereas it’s present in every other release of the game as I felt it was much more fitting for the mini-game “Musical Mushroom”, plus, it’s really catchy like I said. 😆 Regardless, keep up the awesome work! 👏

Mario Party Redux for Nintendo Gamecube
I thought of a video game system Nintendo should make called the "Taplet" and it will have a game card called the "Dem-O-Matic" which would hold every single early version of a video game for the system and various information about the game's development and various changes and demos from store kiosks with a timer would have a screen when the timer ends or when you run out of lives in a timer-less demo a screen saying "Dem-O-ver" as early builds don't use a game over screen and use their OWN screen, there would even be builds that WEREN'T shown at E3 or stores, even when the final is added to your Dem-O-Matic, you can STILL go back to earlier builds of the game and play them!
Also I'm now realizing Nintendo would NEVER make things like the stuff I thought of!

Technically there is a maximum amount of stars, which is 396, because the maximum amount of stars per character is 99, & after 99, that character can't get any more stars.
Also that unused Blooper graphic resembles Gyroids from Animal Crossing.

As for green and red, we know what they usually do.
Well I do have to say tetra this was pretty interesting as I never knew how many textures still exist within the game especially the alternative game mode that could have been how the game was originally intended to be played this honestly would be interesting if we could load some of this functionality back into the game especially the one for the N64 DD as it will detect a PAL Disk Drive that was never actually produced although the code still exists except it was never the hardware was never finished for that region and if it was it was probably in its infancies as it’s very rare to even get a pre release American drive so that is quite odd but who knows maybe we could find a dev disk with the Mario Party bonus content on it but it would be a challenge to say the very least as we don’t even know if the game would even support it anymore in whatever functionality the code has left for it
