That is incredibly cute and innovative! So interesting. I love that you don't have to fill the ENTIRE head with hair like you would with a human-sized wig. (I've seen cosplayers make yarn wigs with a similar method, and it baffles me how patient and dedicated they are, haha.)
Yup a bigger head would be even more labor intensive so real props to them!😊

These tutorials are a life saver! I have had to cut one of my older dolls' hair off because it was too messy and I didn't like the color, so it had just been a bald doll for a long time. Then I found your tutorials and she finally has hair again!

Using the yarn plus the flat iron is just pure genius . I wish I thought to use a flat iron years ago when making wigs. I wefted the wool bye sewing it.

Would this work on human heads? Good wigs are really expensive and I just want to make a nice one, even if it doesn't look super real, something nice

Maybe not this specifically, but the same techniques used to make sewn wigs would also work.
It would be too short as doll heads aren’t the same shape as human heads. What I recommend doing is buying a wig cap your size and just sewing hair all around the wig in a spiral motion, and then make your space buns. Check out dollightful’s wig tutorial!
Coming back to this while im making my first doll (a freshly coronated crown-princess made out of my old pinkie pie doll.) Really helped me because i cant style regular doll hair for my life! XD. Though i have to find my glue out, so she is sitting on my desk with her face up done and a wig cap waiting to be finished.

This style is also a good start for an ancient Chinese style that was very popular at the Imperial Court.
The illustrations I've seen showed long straight locks at the temples, then the two little buns; and everything back of the ears falls straight down her back.
More modern versions often have bangs.

Does anyone just watch because it's satisfying
that eyebrow shaver at the end was either dull or just couldn't cut thru doll hair... who knows, but you can get a pair of thinning shears used for shaving out tiny amounts of hair like you wanted to there from sally's or any other beauty supply place. Heck you can even get them on eBay or Ali express just look up thinning shears and they are only a couple bucks. Might help. Great tutorial too !! Love that glue cap idea at the beginning and I would have never thought of the placement of the pieces like that and it worked out beautifully so I'll have to try it. Thank you again and keep up the great work.

I'd actually recommend making the wig before doing the face up to avoid accidentally ruining the face/fibers sticking to the glossed eyes and lips. But since I've done most of my doll's face ups waaay before I have no choice. Haha!
