I soooo feel that when there are multiple POVs and you just want one to hurry up because it's just not working for ya at the moment!

As a kid I was super shocked that Hermione's name was pronounced differently and the huge fuss that the media made about it when Goblet of Fire was released. I made sure to avoid all spoilers (just knew her name was shown pronounciation) and remember so vividly thinking "how on earth am I going to remember it's pronounced like that, it's so weird and difficult!!"
Another big one is that I spent the first chapter of A Song of Ice and Fire not realising that Eddard is indeed Ned Stark (I'd seen the first 2 seasons before reading the book). So I genuinely spent the first 15? 20? pages thinking that Ned was looking over this Eddard bloke's shoulder and listening in on their conversation. It really confused me and still find it so hilarious, I had to reread the whole thing and it all made sense. hahaha

Have you read the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning? It's an amazing urban fantasy with a hate/love relationship. It's my favorite series and I love most of the books you do :)

You are pronouncing Kvothe perfectly I listed to the audiobook the first time I read The Name of the Wind so the pronunciation stuck with me! PS love this book!

I am right there with you on George, I had a slightly younger George Clooney figure in mind, I think because he is so high and powerful in his field, which is mostly older men too.

I just read Alanna for the first time a year ago, and I also thought George was at least in his 30s! It grossed me out when the romance happened for the same reason. Maybe because of his position, we assume he has to be older?
I also had a hard time in that book with Raoul and Roald. Those names are way too close for me to keep them straight.

I had the very same thought of George in the Song of the Lioness series. I kept thinking he was so much older than she was for some reason.

I struggled pronouncing Plutarch’s name from “The Hunger Games”. Now looking at it and knowing the pronunciation I don’t know how I struggled but I got so frustrated I just called him Pete. My guilty pleasure trope is definitely when a group of characters is all paired off at the end, I just find it super satisfying. And as far as a character I pictured wrong, well I read the “Matched” trilogy last year (they’re not great) and for some reason pictured Xander and Ky as having entirely different skin tones, I got through 2 books and somehow came to this realization 2/3 of the way through the last one.

I hear ya with the thing about learning a new word haha :D I heard the phrase "send someone to coventry" recently which basically means to ostracise someone and then as soon as I learned it, I saw it about five times in the same week haha

I had no idea how to pronounce Hermione's name when I first read it and got it very wrong, which I think is true for every pre-movie Harry Potter lover! Also in the Shades of Magic series I was thinking 'Leela' in my head and then in AGoS there was a scene where Lila speaks to a shopkeeper and she says something like "with this woman's accent, she's saying my name wrong like it's spelled Leela" and I felt so called out lol

marisdc I didn't know how to say Hermione either! And I read the first 3 books out loud to my younger brother and sister so I was saying wrong to them all that time! I didn't even realise I was wrong until Hermione was explaining to Krum how to say to her name in Goblet of Fire - haha I was so confused!

The phenomenon of seeing a word for the first time and then seeing it everywhere is called the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. Or simply, frequency illusion. (This can also be applied to things like noticing a purple car one day and then all of a sudden seeing more and more purple cars.) And to add to the fun, some people say that once they hear the name Baader-Meinhof, they see it pop up more and more. (:

Did the same thing as you said in the 1st question, but with a character from Poison Study by Maria V Snyder...
Somehow I thought her instructor was really old for her, like mid forties haha also I pictured him as being short, with greasy hair and a weird nose.
I was so shocked when she got romantically involved with him...

A character I imagined completely different was the love interest from Keeping The Moon by Sarah Dessen? When he gets introduced he is getting out of his car which is filled with puppet heads (creepy as fuck) and I thought he was a weird old homeless guy or something. Whem the romance plot began, I had to put the book down because I was so weirded out and only realised afterwards that the guy is supposed to be a teenager too. I tried to continue but couldn't, he was still a creepy old homeless man in my mind 😂😂😂

I TOTALLY misread George when I first read the Song of the Lioness series. I mean, I caught on quick enough, once things became romantic, but at first, I was really thrown. (Also, I was like, 11, so that was probably part of it... ha!)

Sarah J. Maas books! I love her writing but I have no clue how she comes up with her names.
Up until Queen of Shadows, I pronounced Chaol as Cole. I also pronounced Manon as Mannon until after I read Empire of Storms.

I love poking fun at myself! 😂
I think we all pronounced Hermione wrong bahahahahha until goblet of Fire when she’s teaching Krum how to say her name 🤣
I love (absolutely LuRVe!!) hate to love! So much better than insta-love
    “That description!” 🤣
I hate reading when I’m “supposed” to! It’s crazy!

For mispronouncing the character's name: my dad used to say Hermione like "her-me-own" when reading it to me as a kid, so we both called her that until we saw the movies. 😂
And I'm the same way with reading deadlines...if I have to read the book by a certain amount of time...I'm likely to not even read it haha.
