i never read any of her books i got them on my shelves just haven't picked any of them up i want to give the series a try but there are way too many other books getting the way one of these years i'll get around to it
I dislike them so much; but I don't know whether it's because I really dislike the author. The plagiarism thing really put me off her. So I can't enjoy her books. And I think she's beating a dead horse aswell.
sexydoorframes Everyone is talking about how she plagiarized and I want to know what they mean by that! I haven’t read the series yet, but I want to know what everyone is referring to!
Jenna's Creative Corner there's a book series called the Darkhunter (?) series that came out before the Shadowhunters series and CC basically stole everything from that series
This made me feel so much better about CC books. I’ve been feeling for a while that I have to read them because they’re so hyped and popular with all the booktubers I watch. So thank you for that! Definitely subbing
Katie McGarry is my all time fav contemporary writer, her series don't have to be read in order though it definitely helps. Good for when you want a quick contemporary/romance fix, I read all them expect two (but I own them so I can finish whenever I feel like it). Her thunder road series is better than the pushing the limits series, which revolves around a motorcycle club/gang.
Love this video! It’s refreshing to see readers talk about books that they aren’t interested in because it’s so difficult to choose what to read! Ideally I’d like to give every series a shot but it’s just not possible.
I read the first two Mortal Instruments books and according to my reviews I really liked them... but I can't recall that feeling and the thought of continuing just drains me, so I'm with you there.
I think for me it's just been too long now. I also met Cassandra Clare and the experience completely put me off the rest of the series. But that's obviously a personal decision and I get why people love the books! I rated the first two 5 stars I think?
I don't want to upset her fans, but I thought she was pretty rude. I attended a signing during which she chatted with her attendant the entire time (who was standing behind her) and did not look once at the people who approached her (at least for the ten or so people in front of me, not sure what happened after I left). She literally just held out her hand without looking while an assistant put a book under it, she signed it, the assistant handed it back to the owner. Kind of disappointing to travel a distance and have to pay for a ticket, just to look at the back of her head while she signs your books! That was just my personal experience, but I've heard similar and worse stories. I'm sure others have had a lovely time meeting her.
I totally understand you not finishing City of Bones/Cassandra Claire. Emma books convinced me to join her Shadowhunters readathon but I couldn’t even get through the first book. I’ve tried twice now, and they just don’t grab my attention. Plus, I don’t want to read everything that author has written JUST to keep up.
I felt the exact same way about the Mortal Instruments about five years ago. I actually really enjoyed the first three books but heard that the last three were not nearly as good. Yet, five years later, I just finished book five and am hoping to get to book six sometime later this year. Just randomly got the urge to start it again and I’ve actually been enjoying it :) you never know when the mood will strike again!
I will admit I'm disappointed you don't want to finish Partials, because I enjoyed the third book so much, but you do you! Thanks for sharing your awesome opinions.
The final book in the of secrets of the immortal nicholas flamel series is just soo awesome haha! Incredible twist ending! They do get a bit slow towards tail end of the series but the conclusion more than makes up for it! Just my opinion, I think you should give them another shot!
It took me forever to get into the Mortal Instruments series. I believe I read the first four books before stopping because I had other books on my TBR to read, and I didn’t own the last two books of the series. At the end of 2016, I decided to give the series another shot, and I’m glad I did because, at this point, I owned every book including those from the Infernal Devices series. Today, I only have The Lord of Shadows to read and then I will be all caught up in Casandra Clare’s works, until December anyway. In no way is this series like Harry Potter, but I get the same sense when reading them. There’s so much going on, and you really do start to care for all of the characters. I understand your opinion on the series as a whole, considering I shared the same feeling, but the books do get better! As for Miss Peregrines....don’t even get me started, hahah.
The only series that I was sad too see on this list was The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series - I enjoyed that one so much. The rest I could understand.
Aww no, not the mortal instruments! I was so invested in it when I read them, finished city of heavenly fire in a day 😂 although I couldn't get through more than a few episodes of the Netflix show 😁
I've read the 1st 2 books in the Talon series by Julie Kagawa and won't finish it just because it uses so many tropes I hate, it's got love triangles, angst, miscommunication causing problems and it just fristrates me so much
With Isla and the Happily Ever After I would say that even though it is technically a companion series, there is so much character crossover that you will get way more out of it if you remember the others. So I’m your case I think it’s probably fine if you give it a pass 🤷🏼♀️
I thought Blood Red Road was a standalone WHAT!??? also, I was the same way with the Mortal Instruments series (only reading the initial trilogy) because I really liked the way it left off! But I've decided recently to reread and finish the series because I've gotten so into the show.
Loving that thumbnail! I predicted most of these from your video yesterday. A lot of these series were huge years ago but haven’t aged well (hush hush for example).
Horray, the Discworld books were not on this list! I am happy now. Who knows when you will get to them, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Tiffany Aching series. Will look out for it in some future video =)
I feel so good to see someone other than me has decided not to carry on with the Miss Peregrine's trilogy. I've forced myself to continue with the book 2 many a times but I just don't feel that motivation to bring the series to completion. Hopefully, like you mentioned, a decade down the line may be I'll pick those books and read them!
Mara Dyer... Well I think the series is a good read. Though I have to admit I skipped the second book completely. Didn't read a single word from it and have no idea why... But I don't really feel like I missed much... though how would I know?
I did a whole video on my favourite series last year! Not 100% up-to-date, but it covers a lot of faves: th-cam.com/video/a5052SEBvhI/w-d-xo.html Some other series I love include - Themis Files - Nevernight - Old Kingdom - Shades of Magic - Strange the Dreamer - Red Rising - Wayward Children
wow, i read the Queen of the Tearling a few weeks ago and holy shit, it was one of my all time faves mind if i ask why didn't you like it? cause seriously, i loved it and i was kind of surprised by your dislike
I have a lot of series where I have read one book of and didn't enjoy it enough to read any more books of it that I wonder if I'm even a series person hahaha! I mean, the ones that I like am I reading so slow. I'm reading a lot of standalones between them.
I would definitely agree with you on miss peregrines home for peculiar children. I liked the first two books but haven’t gotten round to finishing the trilogy
I'm not sure I'm going to finish The Mortal Instruments either. I enjoyed The Infernal Devices trilogy and I even liked the first three of The Mortal Instruments but I feel like she should have just left it as a trilogy like it was originally intended. I'll never say never but honestly I've lost interest at this point. And I just don't love Jay...am I the only one? The only ship I really ship in those books is Alec and Magnus.
I liked the 2nd book in the Delirium trilogy, it has a lot of outdoorsy scenes that I really enjoyed plus the characters. The third one definitely went downhill though, where the ending was quite ridiculous. Not the worst (2.5-3 stars), but liked the first 2 a lot more. Anyways kudos on knowing what your interests are, a lot of (over?)hyped books from years past on that list. I should get rid of some series that I’ve outgrown as well!
The book 2 of the Unwind series by Neal Shusterman is amazing, fantastic, stunning much better than the first one (I didn't read the book 3 and the book 4 of the series, but I planning do that soon)
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is so good, I've read them all, so maybe you'd be better off just watching the film of the first one, then waiting for the rest of them to be made into films
I loved Mara Dyer book 1, but the rest of the series seemed so different like it was a different series or something. And the second Delirium book was such a terrible cliffhanger. At least if you read that you wouldn’t have to wait a year for the third one haha.
The Millenium Trilogy is so good. Hopefully one day you will read them, just don't bother with book 4 and five written by David Lagercrantz(so not worth the time)
Yeah, I wouldn't bother with book 4 & 5, but I think at some point in my future I could imagine continuing! It's just been so long since I read the first one (though I LOVED it) that I would want to revisit.
Little Book Owl I've read them all multiple.times and it is so worth it! I was kinda shocked that you were not planning on finishing these, because they are some of my favourite books of all time, but of you didn't like the first book, you're not gonna like the rest. Now that I read you loved nr. 1, I defenitely recommend that you read the other two. I like the second one the least, but keep on going because it prepares for kickass nr.3!😁 Nr.4 is a decent effort to remake the story, but fails big time and nr.5 is absolute rubbish. So keep it to the original series😉 If you really don't want to re-read fhe first book, you can consider watching the movie (the Swedish one!!), it gives a prerty good idea of the story.
I had the same with The Queen of the Tearling! Only read the first one and it was just 'mehh'. Loved this video! You really started soooo many series haha!
The not so secret life of Emma. I feel the same way...and the romance is less problematic and a cute slow burn...it’s been years and I can still visualize certain plot points.
Savvy Reads Books & Things plus I felt more connected to it because the girl had a crush on the guy for over a year before he even noticed her plus it felt more realistic. I honestly didn’t like The lola one because it felt too forced while isla is more natural
The not so secret life of Emma. I think Lola and the boy next door was the weakest book in the series and I cannot even remember what happened there. I cannot come up with the boy's name and I think that says everything in the "leaving a strong impression with the readers" departement.
So true ! I feel like everyone is always so discouraged by that one they don’t read about Isla WHEN THATS THE BEST ONE BECAUSE THEY ARE BACK AT SOAP UGHHH. Plus Josh is a artist boy .. who doesn’t like those ?
Do you keep the series that you DNF on your shelves? I'm always torn between the 'i'm keeping all of my books' and 'i'm only keeping my favorite ones' moods
I feel ya! Right now, I'm not removing since all of my 'read' books are stored in boxes, so that's an effort. But I am unhauling any books from the mentioned series that I haven't yet read but owned :)
Agree with pretty much all of these! The only one I think would be worth giving a go to finish is the Blood Red Road series by Moira Young. They were quite good and still stand out as one of the best YA series I've read in the past 5 years or so. :-)
I think Unwind works really well as a stand-alone because the tone and themes of the other books are completely different, but enjoyed all of them nonetheless.
I've always felt TMI would have been way better as a trilogy. I really enjoyed the premise, but I think the story was dragged out too long and it could easily have been condensed into fewer books
Princesspigs 13 For me personally, I though the mortal instruments series could have been condensed into about 3 books.. it's so drawn out its ridiculous
Princesspigs 13 Yup. The series is like at least 13 books. Plus, I can't trust whether her words are her own or just stuff that she stole like the past. I can't support plagiarism.
I'm so happy that I've company. I too read the first three books in the mortal instruments series, found it too meh. On the other hand I did enjoy the infernal devices! I've heard a lot about the song of the lioness quartet from your channel, I'm 19 do you think of I read it now I will enjoy it. Because I really want to.
I, personally, absolutely love the Millennium trilogy, but I understand why people don't go beyond the first book. It's a very dark trilogy (I say trilogy because the recent two books are not written by Stieg Larsson so no).
I read the Infernal Devices and loved it. Then when I tried to read the City of bones series, I stalled on book 5. Undecided if I'll push through or not.. It's a bit painful.. But the series after are supposed to be so good...
I only have City of Heavenly Fire left to read in the mortal instruments series but like, it’s been 2 years (maybe even more) since I read the book before it and I just don’t have the will to read it anymore 😂 and I hate not finishing a series, that says a lot hahaha The selection series however, is anyone else disassociating the last two books from the original trilogy? Coz I am 😂 I’ll still finish it but yeah, in my mind it’s not part of the OG Selection series. No offence to Keira Cass, love ya girl but that was a big no no (imo anyways)
I'm kind of shocked (maybe that's an exaggeration) for the shadowhunter books - basically everyone and their mothers rave about it on booktube - I've read the first book, its interesting enough for me to continue - hopefully I'll like it more :)
Good call on Miss Peregrine's, books two and three are pretty shitty lol The last book in the Caster Chronicles is much better than the third, but I can see why the series would be tiring after a while.
Your reasons for not finishing Warm Bodies is my reason for not finishing Unwind. I thought it was a standalone, was happy with where it ended, and then found out years later it was actually a series. Oops?
Im in the same boat. Unwind came out in 2007 the second book didnt come out until 2012. If I were to guess, I would assume the author originally wrote it as a stand alone then made it a series later.
The other books in the series are actually pretty awesome! If you enjoyed the first one, you should definitely try the other ones. I used to be a bit scared of reading the second book because I liked the first "ending" as well, but now, having read the second and third book, I'm so happy Neal Shusterman decided to continue the series. (Plus, at the beginning of the second book there are a few pages with information of the main events of Unwind)
Beth Taylor same, didn't finish it as well because I'm already happy with the ending of the first book plus the theme of the book was not really uplifting.

Personally, I think Cassandra Clare's books are pretty overrated. 😕
As I read all the books that came after Beautiful Disaster and the Maddox Brother series, the only book that stood out was Beautiful Redemption. But other than that, all the books follow a very similar story line so it's very predicable and everything but Jim's part in A Beautiful Funeral was horrible.
I’m so glad I’m not the only person not interested in finishing the Mortal Instruments series.. I enjoy the Netflix show but the books were just not for me.
Omg the last book on the beautiful creatures series SUCKED BUTT. Still to this day, considering I read it around three years ago, it is my least favorite book and least favorite ending to a series. It was about at good as the movie was lmao
Did you finish the first book in miss peregrines or did you DNF? I’ve finished the series but I found that the books didn’t get that interesting until a least 100 pages in each and it was a struggle to force myself to carry on until they did :/
Anonymous Girl same. They're slow and quite boring really. I like fast paced action and twists. And they're not like that at all. I'm in two minds whether I'll read the next 3 that are coming out. I don't know why he's continuing it really :/ Are you going to read the new one that comes out this year?
It sucks you won’t be finishing Magisterium Series. I just finished Silver Mask (book 4) and it is way better than I expected. I think I like Magisterium better than the Shadowhunter World.
I really wanted to finish the mortal instruments but I couldn't get through City of Glass (I finished the infernal devices though and decided cassandra clare is not for me)
I think that out of the series you've named, Unwind is the only one worth finishing. I read Queen of the tearling and it sucked. And while I liked Delirium, it wasn't anything out of this world.
I only read the first book in the beautiful creatures and lux series but they were too boring for me >.> I also read Blood red road and liked it but then never got round to the rest. I read two of the Uglies books but they were meh so I don’t know about them... I loved the beginning of Mortal Engines series but dnfed book three and that was that xD I totally understand your choices!!
Isla and the happily ever after isn't that great. Especially compared to the first two so you're not really missing anything if you don't finish it besides like one scene with Anna and St. Clair and Lolla and Cricket.
I won't finish the Inkheart trilogy. I tried the last book three times and then I lost my copy so I think that was the sign that I won't be finishing the series.
I loved the first three books, and then by the fourth book, I felt sort of "tired" and just never finished it, it stopped sparking my interest, but the first three books I really really enjoyed, in my opinion, they just didn't age well, or simply my taste changed, or both
totally...how could one NOT like the mortal instruments...i luv all the books of cassandra clare...clary and jace are amazing....she must try to give it another shot
I gotta say, it's so refreshing seeing someone on booktube NOT flail and freak out over Cassandra Clare.
Not gonna lie, I'm always a little scared to say I don't love most of the CC books I've read! But they were definitley over-hyped for me.
i never read any of her books i got them on my shelves just haven't picked any of them up i want to give the series a try but there are way too many other books getting the way one of these years i'll get around to it
I dislike them so much; but I don't know whether it's because I really dislike the author. The plagiarism thing really put me off her. So I can't enjoy her books. And I think she's beating a dead horse aswell.

Highly recommend the millennium series, one of my favourites and very quick to read once you get into them!!
3 videos in one day because of the time zone 😂😊
I will admit I'm disappointed you don't want to finish Partials, because I enjoyed the third book so much, but you do you! Thanks for sharing your awesome opinions.

Love the lipstick !

The Dustland-Series is pretty awesome! It's very surprising and Saba is just pretty awesome.
Aww no, not the mortal instruments! I was so invested in it when I read them, finished city of heavenly fire in a day 😂 although I couldn't get through more than a few episodes of the Netflix show 😁
Sasha M Same for the Netflix show, I thought the actors were sooo bad! Clary and Jace’s relationship was pretty cringy as well😂
It’s a Freeform show, not a Netflix show. Netflix just have international rights
I've read the 1st 2 books in the Talon series by Julie Kagawa and won't finish it just because it uses so many tropes I hate, it's got love triangles, angst, miscommunication causing problems and it just fristrates me so much

I predicted most of these from your video yesterday.
A lot of these series were huge years ago but haven’t aged well (hush hush for example).
Haha, I love that - "haven't aged well". Describes them perfectly!

I felt the same way about books 4 and 6 of the city of bones series but the last book of the series is phenomenal
What series do you love? Harry Potter? Sookie Stackhouse? The Broken Earth (I think it is called?) trilogy? Red Rising, etc.?
I did a whole video on my favourite series last year! Not 100% up-to-date, but it covers a lot of faves: th-cam.com/video/a5052SEBvhI/w-d-xo.html
Some other series I love include
- Themis Files
- Nevernight
- Old Kingdom
- Shades of Magic
- Strange the Dreamer
- Red Rising
- Wayward Children
wow, i read the Queen of the Tearling a few weeks ago and holy shit, it was one of my all time faves
mind if i ask why didn't you like it? cause seriously, i loved it and i was kind of surprised by your dislike

Ransom Riggs just announced a whole new trilogy in the peculiar world I'm so excited for! Next one comes out in October :)
My heart HURTS at hush hush but it’s okay so many people hate it haha
What is the name of the lipstick you are using? Its so pretty!
I honestly don't know! It was from a gift bag, and apparently was from a dollar store!
2:19 wow I didn’t know he wrote another book, I loved his first book “Somehow I Manage”
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is so good, I've read them all, so maybe you'd be better off just watching the film of the first one, then waiting for the rest of them to be made into films

Thx for sharing that. I loved the Millenium trilogy and was considering if I should get the other ones
I couldn't agree more! the trilogy is amazing but the add on books are not worth it. I read book 4 and was so bored.
Hale8R Totally agree book 4 and 5 had so much potential but it just didnt happen.
Yeah, I wouldn't bother with book 4 & 5, but I think at some point in my future I could imagine continuing! It's just been so long since I read the first one (though I LOVED it) that I would want to revisit.

The only series I don't feel the same about is the Uglies series. I really liked it when I read it a few years ago
I really didn't like Beautiful Creatures but was thinking about checking out the film the other day haha
The third book in the Anna and the French kiss series is honestly the best one in my opinion so like I really really encourage you to read it
The not so secret life of Emma. I feel the same way...and the romance is less problematic and a cute slow burn...it’s been years and I can still visualize certain plot points.

WOW did this video give me flashbacks to booktube circa 2012-2013
I honestly didn’t really like the third book in the Anna and the French Kiss companion series, the first two were satisfying enough for me :)
I'm not a mortal instruments fan either, but Partials is one of my all-time favourite book series
I’m the same with Miss Peregrine I enjoyed the first book but don’t necessarily feel like I need more...
Blood red road is great but the next two dustlands books weren't quite so good maybe because I just didn't like where the actual plot went idk.
i'm so at 2 minds about finishing the mortal instruments. feel like they might be overhyped - anyone else?
Princesspigs 13
For me personally, I though the mortal instruments series could have been condensed into about 3 books.. it's so drawn out its ridiculous
Princesspigs 13 Yup. The series is like at least 13 books. Plus, I can't trust whether her words are her own or just stuff that she stole like the past. I can't support plagiarism.
i've heard that a lot actually! hmm i think i'll read the next one (3) & then make my mind up - thanks (:
ooo really? that's so bad!! i didn't know about that
I'm the same as you with Warm Bodies. I read it when it was still a stand alone so I feel no need to try it's next installment.
The only one that you listed that I was disappointed that your not going to finish was The Queen of the Tearling series. I enjoyed that series. 😕
honestly the first of the steig larson books is the best so its fine lol!
I totally agree here.
I read the Infernal Devices and loved it. Then when I tried to read the City of bones series, I stalled on book 5. Undecided if I'll push through or not.. It's a bit painful.. But the series after are supposed to be so good...
I loved TID too. TMI 1-3 are okay 4 and 5 were a pain to go through, but the last one was good. Cassandra Clare improved, the last series is my fave.
I only have City of Heavenly Fire left to read in the mortal instruments series but like, it’s been 2 years (maybe even more) since I read the book before it and I just don’t have the will to read it anymore 😂 and I hate not finishing a series, that says a lot hahaha
The selection series however, is anyone else disassociating the last two books from the original trilogy? Coz I am 😂 I’ll still finish it but yeah, in my mind it’s not part of the OG Selection series. No offence to Keira Cass, love ya girl but that was a big no no (imo anyways)
lmao that thumbnail is such a mood
Yesss, I was waiting on this video after watching the others yesterday! I agree with so many on the list, I just don't enjoy them anymore
I'm kind of shocked (maybe that's an exaggeration) for the shadowhunter books - basically everyone and their mothers rave about it on booktube - I've read the first book, its interesting enough for me to continue - hopefully I'll like it more :)
Please do a video for love and romance books and novels
Good call on Miss Peregrine's, books two and three are pretty shitty lol The last book in the Caster Chronicles is much better than the third, but I can see why the series would be tiring after a while.
MISS PEREGRINES! Please read the other books❤
Yes I feel you on the iron trials series
Your reasons for not finishing Warm Bodies is my reason for not finishing Unwind. I thought it was a standalone, was happy with where it ended, and then found out years later it was actually a series. Oops?
Beth Taylor SAME! Phew that makes me feel better. Haha
I also thought it was just a stand alone. The ending was great!
Their are a lot of series that i didn't knew even excited hahahha
I absolutely Adore the iron fae series but I can totally understand why you wouldn't lol
Try reading Hollow City it’s more intense than Miss Peregrine’s homePllz i highly recommend it :)
To be honest, the last book of the caster series was kind of the best. The whole series is like a 3/5, but the last one was good.
I've never read any of Cassandra Clare 's books. Honestly I don't get the hype around them..now I liked the selection series but to each their own.
Not finishing TMI was such a good decision ;)
The first 30 pages of Partials was great. It goes downhill after that
Omg the last book on the beautiful creatures series SUCKED BUTT.
Finish Miss Peregrins!! I love it!!
It sucks you won’t be finishing Magisterium Series. I just finished Silver Mask (book 4) and it is way better than I expected. I think I like Magisterium better than the Shadowhunter World.
I really wanted to finish the mortal instruments but I couldn't get through City of Glass (I finished the infernal devices though and decided cassandra clare is not for me)
The mortal instruments is two separate trilogies so you won't be missing much if you don't get past city of glass
I think that out of the series you've named, Unwind is the only one worth finishing. I read Queen of the tearling and it sucked. And while I liked Delirium, it wasn't anything out of this world.
That lipstick. I agree with a lot of those.
Is there a reason why you don't want to finish these series? Especially the ones you've only got one book?
I have to admit the thumbnail triggered me a bit as a massive Cassandra Clare fan :') But I get why a lot of people don't like her books.
I loved the first three books, and then by the fourth book, I felt sort of "tired" and just never finished it, it stopped sparking my interest, but the first three books I really really enjoyed, in my opinion, they just didn't age well, or simply my taste changed, or both
Sara Angel the same for me. I got through the first three fairly easy. I struggled with the fourth book and put the rest of the series on hold
The fact that you felt the need to use "triggered" makes me want to read the books even less.
broken dreams me too 😂
I feel you Pendragon
That thumbnail though 😂. Prepare yourself from the fans lol
Haha I only have myself to blame!
totally...how could one NOT like the mortal instruments...i luv all the books of cassandra clare...clary and jace are amazing....she must try to give it another shot
I was worried The Darkest Minds would be on the list. I don’t see how anyone could not read or like it
I was catching up on your videos waiting for this video to go up
At least she didn’t say the Red Queen series😂 #newin
I felt the same with Hush Hush, it annoyed me xD
Is it weird that I agree with all of the above...
I get why people hate the Mortal Instruments, but the Dark Artifices are way better.
Good choice in not reading Isla and the Happily Ever After. It's still to this day one of my least liked books ever.
