Angono - Binangonan petroglyphs are the oldest known artwork in the Philippines

I'd never heard of petroglyphs two days prior to this visit but I do love history and once I read about them I just had to go. I cycled 22km or thereabouts to get there which was all flat until the end where there was a monster hill to climb. The views at the top were a fantastic though, a magnificent vista of Metro Manila aid out before me. Angono is the art capital of the Philippines, I hear, so the petroglyphs are perfectly placed as the oldest artwork in the Philippines, about 4,000 years old and carved out by people we know very little about but who probably lived in the caves overlooking where Manila now stands. The petroglyphs make a decent day out from Manila and there are some great cafeterias in the area with amazing views and a great place to chill.

Wasn't able to finish watching this when you posted it before and was only able to get back to it now. Anyway, thanks for showing the petroglyphs. What's interesting is that Angono is known as the Art Capital of the Philippines. Many visual artists were born and raised there, including the renowned painter Carlos "Botong" Francisco who's also a National Artist. Interesting that those who created those petroglyphs millenia ago passed on their love for art to their descendants. 🎨🖌
