    Solid story full of what turned out to be a good experience and information. We have purchased several campers over the years, rarely with any kind of extended warranty. That being said, we were not full timers and while we used the heck out of them and pulled them across the country it was not an every day occurrence. Recently we purchased a used Grand Design Momentum (350M) 5th wheel that came with a Route 66 extended warranty. We have not used it yet, but our very favorite RV dealer (due to service) has recently joined that network - so we are very optimistic about having the coverage with them on our 'team'!

      it's one of those things that you hope you never need to use but at the same time kind of hope you do use it to get your money's worth. Full timing I feel like it's a good thing to have of course that is just our opinion based on our own story. I don't know whether to tell you we hope you need to use it or that you never need to use it! LOL 😉 Thanks for watching and commenting!

    From a Service Advisor's point of view, I can say Interstate and Route 66 are great to work with. Very fair and I can usually get at least 85%+ of the repair cost covered for the customer. Politeness and Honesty goes a long way. If your Service Advisor is a grouch I can assure you you'll end up paying because of his/her bad attitude. Find a friendly shop and I'm certain you'll reap the benefits of your warranty.

    Man $100+ for shipping is insane! It stinks that the diagnostic wasn’t covered since that’s part of the repair. But we’re so happy that all those large repairs were covered in the extended warranty for you!!! And the hotel, too! Looks like the warranty coverage was definitely beneficial for you guys.

    Was told by our dealership that most warranties won't cover issues if you live in your RV. Has anyone else been told this?

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well I am not sure if this is the case or not I can say that we have never lied about living full-time in our RV. We have utilized both a regular warranty and extended warranty and the repair shops knew we were full time. Whether they told the warranty company this or not we do not know.

    Purchasing an extended warranty also protects you against rising prices and inflation.
    I had to replace the automatic step that slide out of my van. $1500 for one step.!!!
    If I did not have the extended warranty, I would not have a step. I’m not paying $1500 for one step!
    $7000 for a seven year extended warranty is paying for itself.
    $1000 for a seven year warranty on paint job.
    (A Boeing aircraft product)
    After 4 1/2 years I can hose it off and it looks show room new.
    Room and board is covered through my insurance company and not warranty. I purchased my new van in 2017. Everything cost twice as much now. Including my van.

      @@NoOrdinaryPath I think you have a Grand Design, which I believe you can take to other dealers for warranty service, you may need to call them though. At least you will be covered after the Grand Design warranty is over.

    I would venture a guess that the majority of people who own RVs can't hammer a nail straight. So, If and when their new RV warranty runs out and they don't have an extended service contract in place, I can only imagine how much out of pocket it costs them for every repair, maintenance, or replacement function. Those costs alone could possibly force them not to be able to move their RV off their property due to not being able to afford it. If I were to buy an RV, that was out of the manufacturer's warranty window, I would research for the most reliable extended service contract company and then get the most comprehensive coverage they have. Being a desk jockey my entire career I'm not about to become an RV mechanic at my age.

    All this video is showing me is that this particular travel trailer is a not very reliable. That said, I have a 2004 Fleetwood Southwind 36RS motorhome we've had for 7 years now. When we bought it, we bought a 4 year warranty with it. It cost us $1,400 and it covered a lot but not everything. Under the warranty we needed to make 1 repair but I had to pay for most of the repair because the warranty didn't cover the whole job which I thought was BS. That was for a gear oil leak. The warranty eventually expired and I didn't renew, I've had to repair or replace the following: Step motor and circuit board, converter, rear AC, house batteries, chassis battery, exhaust manifold, the microwave died, my fresh water tank valve now leaks, and I'm now having a lighting issue. Not all repairs are done but so far I've probably forked out about $7,000 so, yes, a warranty is worth it even if it offsets half the cost.

    I paid $2,100. for a 5 year extended warranty/service contract when I bought my 2020 Kodiak travel trailer.
    Mine is Route 66. It’s amazing!!
    Here’s the thing with warranties……they’re phenomenal if you need them and not phenomenal if you don’t. Lmao!
    The piece of mind is worth it and I’m not even full time. 😀

    ATTENTION: All those that make travel Videos on TH-cam while using their RV's.
    THIS MAY OR MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. You may loose your WARRANTY rights.
    Please watch the Jun. 7, 2022 video posted by "WINGMAN WISDOM",
    (NOTE: I don't get anything out of this)
    It's about a Law Suite case and the legal applications of RV
    Warranties by Manufacturers. Simple....the first letter of "RV" stand
    for "RECREATIONAL", not Commercial....... DUH !!!
    The Manufacturers Lawyer(s) now have enough "wiggle" room to argue and
    win the case and your loose! So, all these people on TH-cam that make
    an income shooting travel VIDEOS (or whatever) ....BE CAREFUL!

    This is exactly why I started watching TH-cam in the first place. This is also exactly why we ourselves have begun making videos of the like. This video was timely for us. We are taking our RV tomorrow for inspection for the beginning of the season. The salesman of the place where we purchased in 2017 looked up our warranty. It is up in June. We haven't had many issues with this RV but we aren't full time either and hasn't had the use as yours. However now we are 3 years old. RV's decline with age. So all that to be said, I will suggest to Duane that we go ahead and continue with a new RV warranty. The salesman told us that if we had a lapse, we would not be able to continue with a new one. Don't know if that info is correct or not. I don't like pressure like that. Nevertheless, I do believe we will purchase another warranty. We don't have any reason to upgrade our to a newer RV as it is still "brand" new and we still love it. You guys are creating great videos. May God continue to bless your channel and yourselves xoxo. Deana

      @NoOrdinaryPath  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed response here. Thanks for watching and for your comment. I do think it's true that if you let it lapse you cannot get a new one. We ran into that with our manufactures warranty expiring in February and had to make up our minds fast to get the extended or lose the window. I'm glad we did.

      @@NoOrdinaryPath I've been looking at this in case we decide to purchase a used RV, I've found you need to have an inspection if you aren't currently covered. There are a lot of insurance companies selling these, you can buy direct from Wholesale Warranties, but I don't know how good they are. I think they sell several plans.
      I'm interested in the Actual Name of the warranty company mentioned in this video since it seems they do pay and I heard of others that don't.
