I think every RV owner can feel your pain! I suspect they didn't lose your new grey tank, but installed it on another RV or sold it to someone else. I have had similar issues with RV service departments. The latest is that Camping World damaged our antenna reinstalling it after putting a new roof on our RV. You can guess how cooperative they have been in replacing it on their dime. I also had to adjust the awning after the roof install because of poor installation, and had to remove a bunch of caulk that was clogging the gutters. There is more, but you get the point. This was the last straw for us. We will use Mobile RV services from now on. They are independent, rely on word of mouth so they focus on quality, and can easily be researched in camping groups. Plus, you don't have to take your RV to them. They come to you! :) We found a good one near us. He does great work, keeps his appointments and is very reasonable.
This is the reason. I bought a floor model travel trailer and they pillaged ALL the good stuff off of it and put it on trailers that were in for repairs THey took the brand new propane bottles off, the electronic jack, replaced the brand new scissor jacks with older ones, etc. We didnt care because we got a big discount, but it happens all the time and its frustrating.
I won’t buy anything from camping world since they got sued in Oregon for scamming customers and double charging for prices . 3.5million dollars they have to pay back.
OMG. You two are such positive role models! I would have blown a spleen on the repair shop incompetence. Absolutely INEXCUSABLE. You are correct - this is a fair representation of MANY industries right now. Over-booked, understaffed, people doing multiple roles and jobs and flying by the seat of their collective pants to get things done. Sad, but familiar. Honestly, thank you for the eye-opening video. Most of us see the splendor of the road and hear the positives about the "life-on-the-road" and view it as your edited videos when it is a lot of tedious effort and LOTS of editing out the less-glamorous side of RV life. Safe travels Hanks!
We purchased a brand new travel trailor by forest river. It was 2019 signature by Rockwood. We have since fixed the following within the first 3 years. New toilet, the peddle to flush broke off. Have purchased a new toilet. Our awning motor broke and needed replaced. 4 new tires and seals after two years. Our island counter top cracked in cold weather... the slide out in bedroom, one wall was even attached to the floor. Window crank nobs have stripped since the windows seals stick. They are plastic. Wr keep several on hand at all times. One of our top vents wad broke since purchase of the unit in January 2019. We did not take back to the dealership for repairs since Camping world has "poor service".... we paid over 50k and this is we have dealed with. Now our furniture upholstery is falling apart. CRAZY!!!
Hey fellow travel nurse! My wife and I are also traveling RNs and our home base is Myrtle Beach, so sorry for the lack of service in our wonderful home town. We have a 43ft Northpoint 377RLBH that we're traveling in and hope to catch up with you guys sometime and trade some good ER, CVICU, and Trauma stories mixed with some great RV laughter on the side. Travel safe, Rhett and Shannon Butler.
Never did the traveling nurse thing but did Paramedic and ER Trauma ICU. Long since retired. Love watching your videos. You probably help a lot of folks with where to go and where not to go! We appreciate you!
Yup this is exactly why I no longer let anyone touch my grand design. I do all my own repairs now to save my self the stress and headaches plus being over charged 🙀love watching yall,s content good luck and safe travels!!🤘
Dear Grand Design, we TRUST you and TRUST the companies who you choose to represent you… PLEASE step up and make it right for so many of us enduring this unnecessary hardship.
Esther, you speak TRUTH! I just sold my 2020 G.D. Imagine…( I ❤️❤️❤️’d it very much, but now traveling solo and downsized) but this was my constant message! And, I’m sorry to say…. Campers Inn does not deserve the distributorship. That’s from personal experience. 6 weeks of work very specifically scheduled, they knew I was a full timer, TOOK 9 MONTHS. It was an absolute nightmare.
Feeling your pain with this one. So frustrating! You handle it well, appreciate you showing the reality of RV life. We’ve been through similar, it isn’t easy. Hang in there, Hanks!
have a suggestion for all RVers, if possible always have new parts shipped to YOU and then you bring to the service appt yourself, might help eliminate issues like the one in this video. Happy Travels 🙏🏽🇺🇸🙏🏽💕
You are so right. If you can do it, do it yourself. My rep, for a company that I handled their line of products for once told me that her moto was ,"If you can't find the time to do it right the first time how are you going to ever find the time to do it right the second time." - We stay at Ocean Lakes Campground twice each year for a week each time. It's our favorite place, we love it.- Safe travels and good luck with the grey tank.
Seems like a poor Yelp review is in order for this service center. Kinda crazy that they would treat people this way. Good thing you guys keep your heads up and stay positive. Thanks for the content!
@@HappilyEverHanks Unacceptable. It's obviously a race to the bottom in the RV service industry. He didn't even apologize to you on the phone or offer to make it right at YOUR convenience. Ugly.

i love how yall are not afraid to just calmly call out the rv service center and the problems they caused. good video and hope yall get your tank replaced.
@@HappilyEverHanks that's good cause I have seen some people on here that will have a horrible experience from a service center but won't tell people who it is because they don't want to tarnish a businesses name, I'm thinking share the name so others don't make the same mistake.
“you really need to find a service or a dealer that will help you when that happens” SO TRUE!!! We bought Grand Design baby from a dealer that doesn't seem to have the ability to answer our questions, do any repair, or even advise us on where to get serviced. But we found an amazing dealer who we didn't buy from in our own backyard (other youtubers have used them). Awesome service and they are making the repairs we need. When we decide to upgrade - They have earned our business. We feel for you guys and this video helps everyone to understand that even the Amazing Hanks go through the same delays all of us do. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to PART 2.

I actually set aside time so I could view the whole ordeal. Now I find out you guys don't even have the entire video. You decided to call it Part 1 and Part 2. In reality you lost Part 2 and you'll show it later. This is frustrating. I have other things to do. I don't even care about Part 2 at this point. Your subscriber numbers just dropped by 1. (Laughing hard with tears emoji)
ARE Y’ALL GONNA PASS BY VIRGINIA?!😭😭 WOULD MEAN THE WORLD TO SEE Y’ALL EVEN FOR MINUTE SO I LOOK IN DEXTERS BLUE EYES 💖💖 AM 39 AND BEEN WATCHING SMITHSONIAN SINCE I WAS 25!! It’s hard to find people with similar interests to my husband and I!! You guys seem to be the only ones we know who isn’t 60 and is interested in the same things we are😊
Man.. I wish we could of told you NOT TO GO to that dealership for GD warranty... they lied for 2 months and at the end we showed up to more lies on the slide fix... so I told them to pit it together we were leaving.. they said they had parts coming and I said don't care we are leaving and NEVER coming back... we called GD and they found a solution down the road in Florida.. I know you are behind on your vids a month or so but to whoever is reading this comment... DO NOT go to that dealership for any GD warranty work...
It reminds of a song popular in the 70's: You're going to drive me to drinkin' if you don't stop driving that hot.rod.Lincoln. Dealing with RV issues certainly seems that way.
Hey guys! This is the reason why your my favorite RV TH-cam channel. You are so funny but at the same time so real. You didn't sugar-coat the situation or makeup some stupid excuse for the dealer. You called it as it is. I'm sure we'll get an update in the near future. In the meantime, maybe start looking at another brand. If nothing else, you would be able to compare brands. Keep bringing the great content. Take care and safe travels. Paul & Patti
Renee, I’ve done the same. When service seems to be moving slow, I’ll stand in a place to be noticed. Sometimes even get on the phone with a “friend” and talk within hearing distance of customer service.
Thank you Jared, we definitely could have used your insight during all of this chaos! We appreciate your support, hopefully we cross paths soon 😊 - Kyle and Renee
My wife and I are 23, from Myrtle Beach, and recently decided to take on full time RV living because of the housing market and because ya’ll and your videos! Were officially 1 week in living in the mountains of NC and wouldn’t trade it for anything! Cant wait to see part 2! Happy travels Hanks!
I'll be at Lakewood (tent camping with the Boy Scouts for our 40th annual Beach Sweep event) on the weekend after labor day. Ocean Lakes is Very Nice as well. I just realized at 31:04 (once I got my orientation with the tall building at Ocean Lakes) that we always camp in the sites that are right up against that fence on the left that separates Lakewood and OL.
Somehow I'm not surprised an RV dealership/ service center let you down. Some people say Camping World is the worst, well quite frankly they are all terrible, pretty much all of them. People need to be aware of what they are taking on before they buy an RV. Thanks for keeping it real.
Y’all have taught me a lot when looking for a camper, just found y’all’s channel last week. I’m hoping to have a camper and being able to use it by the first of the year.
I worked at an auto dealer repair shop and that was one of our common excuses well the park came in without your name on it so it was used for another job. In other words we never ordered the parts
Every time I watch you two I notice my mouth is sore from smiling all the time. Thank you. Carl, your witt is amazing. If you weren't already married ... damn. Keep up the fun and optimisem.
We feel your pain. We dropped our camper off for warranty work with Camping World 🤮, and the wrecked it on the lot. Then they tried to fix it without telling us but we caught them when we showed up unannounced to check on the warranty work. So frustrating!!! Good luck.
We are new to RVing. Thank you guys for the great video’s. So nice to watch you two. We are learning a lot from your travels! Thanks for the knowledge and entertainment.
Can't believe our timing. We weren't following Grand Design Rallies when we made our reservations at Ocean Lakes Campground for May 15-20th. We could have gone earlier. What a great campground and beach. We loved it. Can't wait for Part 2.......you both certainly roll with the punches.
Gypsy moths, try not to transport to other states, get rid of the cocoons on everything outside if you can. They will literally eat all the leaves off trees. Entire forests of leaves, not kidding. We have them in Michigan.
Consider my thumbs up on this episode as a thumbs down on RV repairs. We never want to bring our RV into a shop. We, like you guys, try to do as much as we can in order to avoid the chaos involved with taking it in to the shop. Looking forward to Part II.
I feel your pain, this past winter we spent 53 days camped at our service center lot for a 1 day slide replacement. I got one guy fired for bullshitting us, caught him in the act of telling us a story that never happened. Missed a Navy reunion in Oklahoma because of it. Such is life!!
Going right along with good and fun Hanks content. Feeling excited for you guys and then we sank right with you. Family spent a week there a couple of years ago . Loved every moment! Great Place! Know your frustration. Been down that road to get warranty service. Do it ourselves if possible. Be Safe you guys!!
We vacation at Myrtle Beach almost every summer for the last 50 years. It has changed alot over the years. Those camp sites are unbelievable. Hope y'all enjoyed it all.
This right here is why I have a utility trialer for a camper! My grey tank is a 5 gallon jerry can. My black tank is my cassette toilet. My electrical system consists of a Jackery and a solar panel. It's much easier to purchase individual elements and replace them when things go awry. No fancy schmancy intricate RV systems for me. Happy Trails in your big lovely home!!
I really commend you guys on keeping it together! What the heck!! We made an appointment to get work done and the rig was in the shop for more than 6 weeks! They told us the appointment was for evaluating and ordering parts and then we could take the rig home and bring back when parts arrived and they didn't get it looked at for 6 weeks! Luckily we are not full-timers, more like any-timers (can I say retirement is fantastic!) but needless to say, the Google review may not have been stellar! Here's hoping that Part 2 will bring some good news.
Aww thank you Cindy ❤️ Oh my goodness, that is such a long time!! So sorry that this happened to you guys. Thank you for your support, we can't wait to catch up again with you soon!
This episode could have been called "The Hanks Get Sangry" (salty and angry) - or - "The Ineptitude of a RV Repair Shop"! Dang Blab them for leav'n The Hanks hang'n!!! All of your subscribers and viewers are sitting on the edge of their camp chairs waiting for PART 2. Cheers.
I enjoy watching your videos and have really noticed progress in the quality of the camera work and editing (I’m a professional editor in Los Angeles 25+ years of experience). Can I trouble you with some technical/equipment questions? Thanks and I’ll continue to watch. Thanks for making these fun.
Y’all have such a great attitude! Even in our sticks and bricks house, we have sudden setbacks like a leaky upstairs tub that ran down the walls to our first floor bathroom. Whether it’s an RV or a house, stuff happens and I applaud you for having a great attitude even when disappointed. Safe travels!
Hello Hanks. I just discovered my fresh water tank supply line is unraveled where it attaches to the tank. We've been using fresh water portable tanks so it's not urgent to replace the supply line. Sorry to hear about the issues yall are having. Thanks Hanks for sharing your adventures with us!
I feel your pain! We bought our grand design from that exact dealership. They’re so helpful when they’re selling you an rv. Not so much when you need service. As you said, grand design is not the problem, it’s this dealership’s service department! We’ve been waiting for months for them to get it together and do work on our camper which is still under warranty! Good luck!
I’m sorry guys. When this happens is so difficult. These days parts take so long to come. We are up for inspection next month and we are praying we don’t need anything. I hope they get the parts for you guys soon. It’s hard being with out your rv especially because it’s your home. I’m praying for a speedy turn around for your guys. Thanks for sharing.
This video is exactly why I try and do 99% of the work myself. Our refrigerator went out with 5 days left on our last trip. The day after we got home I did the trouble shooting, found the problem and ordered the part. I replaced the part and we are back in operation. Last time I took my trailer in for some suspension updates, two weeks for an appointment and they had it for a month. Very annoying. Hang in there Hanks!
You might checked all the TH-cam videos on plastic welding. It’s really quite easy and a handy thing to know being an RV owner. You can repair just about anything plastic. Took me 40 years to discover this as an option. In the last 6 months I’ve repaired a bunch of stuff I would have thrown away in the past. You might have been able to repair the tank. Check all the videos.
I truly enjoy you guys' episodes. The travel info and the humor are unsurpassed. We bought an RV five years ago. We've enjoyed it very much, but as this video showed, there is always work to be done on it. I'm not a handy man and don't even own much in the line of tools. Every time it goes in for repairs, it costs a lot of money. For that reason, we're thinking of selling our rig. It was fun while it lasted.
Ok, that stick with marks on it to show you how far your slide goes out is the best idea I've ever seen! I'm going out to repurpose my broom right now.
Well, you just brought back some vivid memories! You both handled this situation with grace and restraint! Us, well, we really truly tried! Our fifth wheel was in the shop long enough to birth a child from start to the actual birth! Then, after 9 months, we brought our rig home and the awning wouldn’t work. So, called the repair shop back, and the first words were, “didn’t happen here”. Turns out it did, and they realized it, and yes, I did the Nay Nay irritation ploy, not leaving the building until they fixed it. Our incredibly long wait was because the nose cap cracked, it was under warranty, and it took forever to get the part. And the awning issue, they pinched an awning wire installing the nose cap.
We feel your pain. Our trailer has been at the dealer for a full month and no responses to phone calls. Of the 12 months we’ve owned the trailer, the dealer has had it a full 10 weeks. While it’s not our home, we’ve lost money due to canceling plans. Hang in there! We loved wearing our Heh shirts!
When I started reading your comment I didn't look at your name. I thought you were a friend of mine making this comment. My friend had a similar situation. He bought a high end unit(25 ft. Big Foot) and right out of the box the Dometic refrigerator did not work. He had to drive about 2.5 hours to his dealer. They kept the unit off and on over several months. It would work at times. Dometic didn't want to replace it ,but after he laid down the law Dometic replaced it. So aggravating.
Another awesome video in the real life experiences of having an R V. Ya'll have handled it rather well considering all the stress your under. Ya'll are awesome people hang in there and don't let the stupidity of others get you down . Positive vibs and prayers coming Ya'lls way
I can only imagine the behind the scenes, I almost bought a camper from there. I immediately walked right back out the door! I already knew the pain ya'll was about to feel as soon as I saw where ya'll were going. Still love the video though, ya'll are awesome
We feel your pain. We bought a brand new camper this year. The first night we used it (with temps in the 40’s) the furnace broke. We had multiple items from the final walk around that also needed to be fixed. We still don’t have finish trim on the kitchen cabinets. And we finally were able to camp in warm weather and found the the A/C is also not working. So it is back in the repair shop. It has been there more than it has been in our possession at this point. We had to cancel our 4th of July reservations and are now waiting for any notification that the A/C warranty claim has gone through and they shipped an a/c. We have called twice and they have no answer and have no idea if has been shipped. If we could return the camper and claim lemon law we would but it doesn’t qualify yet….
Sorry to hear this. Just be thankful you're under warranty. We had a/c problems and water heater problems under warranty. When the extended warranty ran out, more of the same, plus serious leaks, even on a 2-yr old roof, none of which was under warranty. We just got it back with a $4200 repair bill. On top of all this, I was diagnosed with cancer last November and haven't been able to use the rig since then. When gas prices go down, I'm putting a For Sale sign on it!!!
And 2 weeks later, we had to call, again because no one at the dealership called back and now we are told it was on backorder (which they never mentioned before), now not on backorder but will still take another 4-6 weeks to arrive. By then summer is over. This new RV purchase this year was a HUGE mistake. If we could file a lemon law claim on it and make them buy it back we would.
I just came across this video, your channel has introduced me to the community and other greats like Changing Lanes, THANK YOU!! Commenting because we JUST purchased our '19 Lacrosse from Campers Inn Myrtle Beach, this video is SO helpful and specific to us, thank you, thank you! All the positivity & love, you guys rock!
As frustrating this situation is especially since you did all the possibilities you two are handling the situation with the up most respect. They need a dedicated shipping and receiving clerk. Hope your stay greatly improved
@@HappilyEverHanks you guys are awesome! I love how y’all have such a contagiously joyful personalities and are so open about your adventures. Hoping one day our paths will cross so my family and I can say hello. Until then, stay safe and keep lettin it rip!
We feel you with this. We were getting baggage doors replaced and they "lost" our parts. We made a 500 mile trip for nothing. We know that much cursing happen after that camera turned off.
Same experience. Waited a month in town for our appointment since we fulltime. So inconvenient. Got there they could not find our part. It was there. Could not find it. Eventually found it, wired the circuit board wrong and installed the valve upside down. By the time it broke worse 3 days later we were many states away. Had to go to the Truma factory to have it fixed.
I have to say, I love how calm and collected you two are in this stressful situation. Your positivity is inspiring .I'm learning alot from you two about this life because one day my family and I hope to do this too. Thank you for making such fun, funny, educational videos. #positivevibes #ThanksHanks
I feel your frustration with the auto level. I do not think its in the manual, but I have pushed the auto-level button with enter button simultaneously, then it gets made at you and allows you to clear the code, it is a panic stop error that happens and when you push the enter to clear it resets the other error codes as well. I found out that when my jacks are going all the way in "retracted" and the auto level thinks it needs to go further is when it messes it up. I have learned my lesson, and put the level control to manual mode and then leveled it with the manual display, and when close i will use auto level for the unit to do the rest of the job.
Enjoy your channel from Australia. Feeling your disappointment. We bought a new caravan last year for our family holidays around Australia and it had a leaking water pump from the factory. Finally got it replaced 5 months later. As you say it comes with the joys of being on the road. Love both your sense of humour. Keep up the good work. 👍👍
S.C. is a great state. Food is amazing! Spent 27 years in Charleston. Myrtle Beach was better 15-20 years ago but still worth a visit. Be safe and love your channel.
We've been to MB 2x(before buying our trailer) I remember seeing that RV center. I made note of this. I've worked in the auto/autoparts industry for long enough to know losing a part is unacceptable. I hope they get another tank toot sweet, for ya.🤞🙏💕
Here is hoping you get it fixed soon!! We had a similar problem here in CO. We bought a new Montana 5th wheel and after two trips, the fresh water tank started leaking. I removed the back under belly to find the tank crushed on the top. This had to have happened when they installed it. After having it at the dealer/repair center for warrantee work for a couple of weeks after they agreed it was not our fault, we were told we had to wait for the tank to be ordered and come in. Decided to take the RV home where it would be safer. Almost two months later, the tank came in. Well, mostly came in. Like you they couldn't find the tank. After a couple days, they found the tank and we were able to take the RV in and they replaced the tank under warrantee. These are such stressful times, and you two handle it so well. I'm hoping I can take inspiration from you two, to handle problems later, that I'm sure we will hit! Thanks so much for showing that things can be a little less stressful if you don't go crazy and try to keep your cool. Look forward to part 2...
Love you guys. Here's to hoping it all works out. I work in the service industry (not RV) and every part that comes to my office is tagged the moment it comes through the door. This is unexceptable. I would never treat a client like that
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the RV service industry. It's disappointing to hear about such experiences. In the world of outdoor camping, it's essential to have reliable power sources. I highly recommend considering the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series. Its massive capacity, super-fast recharging, and comprehensive protections make it a versatile and reliable choice for all your power needs. Stay powered up and enjoy your outdoor adventures!
Ive changed out hundreds of grey and black tanks. It usually takes most of a day or even two. As for them "losing" the part? Most likely it was installed on another trailer, or its sitting on some back shelf somewhere covered in dust. Love your content guys!
Isn't it amazing how fast a part can go missing? We have been waiting for the slide to be fixed on 2022 Imagine 2500RL. Grand Designed shipped the parts to our dealer via the United States Postal Service. It took over a week for the parts to show up and no one could track them. The trailer has been at the dealer for over a week. When I dropped it off last week, they thought they would have it back to us tomorrow. I am not holding my breath. We are also waiting on the fridge to be replaced. I hope you guys get the grey tank fixed soon. Thank you for sharing. Peace and Safe Travels -Craig
This is one of those occasions that, knowing what I want to say, it is better that I refrain so I don't get placed on someone's red flag list. I can't believe how calmly you took this.
Hey Karl uncle Mike here I never take my RV to a dealer! I either fix it myself or hire a roadwarrior to make repairs always had success! Love you guys 💗
Don’t feel bad. I lived in NC for more than 30 years before going to MB. We grew up going to my grandparents’ place at a quiet NC beach. We like Lakewood, but their rates have gone up so much over Covid, we’d prefer somewhere less expensive. Glad to find y’all. Safe travels! From SC, Jane❤️🙏🏻
Agree with self repair, tank replacement could use many experienced hands under the rig, (bulky items are a balancing act, as you may well know already). (Before strapping tank in, get all the external to the tank pipes connected, sealed/glued, air tight, no leaks, 🥵). When I took the micro-mini-Winabago for a factory install whoops, so much time involved. (The plumbing vent pipe install person or persons, put the vent pipe too low in the gray-water tank, causing less than half the tank to be filled. (Stopped filling about 1/2 a tank, in this case, 15 gallons and stopped taking in more water). The joys of RV’s are endless. 😳
What a joke. We have been RV’ing a long time and these issues occur far too often. This RV dealership, and many others, are a disgrace. How do you lose a tank after telling the customer you have it and it’s ready to go? Time to find another stealership to have this repair done. Love the channel!!
We live just under two hours from Myrtle Beach. Love the area. We're going to be at Ocean Lakes on the 11th. So sorry this happened to y'all. There is no excuse for them losing the tank - sloppy/poor service.
I feel your pain. We are waiting for our AC to be fixed under warranty, our camper has been at the dealer for 3 weeks. If we do not get it back by next Friday, then we will have to cancel our three-week vacation.
Ya know this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of this happening we’ve learned to call the day before our appointment to make sure the part is there, sometimes the dealers will have an Rv with the broken part they have in stock for you and the customer wants their rv now so they take your part and put it in another rv! We had a dealer take a rear axle off an rv on the lot to put on a customers rv because the customers rear axle was broken and couldn’t get the part in so they took it off another RV that was sold to put it on the other customers RV. If I was you I would go to grand design to get it fixed and cut out the middle man.
We love Ocean Lakes. They have everything you need right on site. We’ve stayed ocean front and stayed in houses. Can’t wait to get back there at the end of August.
This situation with your tank is exactly why I choose to do repairs myself! I may not be a spring chicken any longer, but at least I know things will get done in a timely manner. How do you loose an entire grey tank anyways?? Extremely irritating I must say, I would not have been as congenial as you guys! They would be ripping a grey tank out of one of their stock RV’s for their own mishap of loosing one earmarked for us!! WOW, just unbelievable for their careless actions. Our ❤️’s go out to the two of you. Hope you are able to get it made right when you have a talk with the GD team at their Rally! As always Take Care and give us (your followers) an update on this catastrophe. #Hankskeepingitreal #ThanksHanks
I feel for you! I've got pending issues with my Grand Design that are over 2 years old! My stealership could care less and Grand Design is pretty well with the mindset it's been a couple of years so it can't be much of an issue. I definitely know which stealership will never see anyone penny from us.
So sorry this is happening wish these dealerships or repair service would get this fixed where these issues don’t happen but good video keep them rolling you guys do a great job.
#ThanksHanks for another great video! I'm so sorry you had to go through this! Having bought a Reflection last year, I can identify with your pain. Waiting for parts and service has been a real challenge for sure. I can't wait for PART 2 to see how this turns out. At least it looks like Dexter (#FurBaby) is handling it well!
I feel your pain thats why I fix all my stuff myself cant relay on dealer and service techs and even when it's done it been done wrong or they breack somthing else in the process
The first thing I tell service techs is, "We live in here". It's a stressful situation dealing with RV repairs at service centers.
Yeah and some of them still think it's okay to keep the rig
Yes, we've heard great things about mobile techs all around!
If only other TH-camr RV videos were as informative as you guys are. New RV would appreciated more. But thank you guys and keep up the great work.
Sounds like the RV service department at my Grand Design dealer in the Quad Cities. Love my rig, hate my servicing dealer.
Thanks Jim!
Yes, hopefully we can all exchange some great stories!
Never did the traveling nurse thing but did Paramedic and ER Trauma ICU. Long since retired. Love watching your videos. You probably help a lot of folks with where to go and where not to go! We appreciate you!
Yup this is exactly why I no longer let anyone touch my grand design. I do all my own repairs now to save my self the stress and headaches plus being over charged 🙀love watching yall,s content good luck and safe travels!!🤘
and what you learn about your rig along the way is priceless...
Thanks Ian!
Dear Grand Design, we TRUST you and TRUST the companies who you choose to represent you…
PLEASE step up and make it right for so many of us enduring this unnecessary hardship.
They don’t care.
They (all manufacturers) build garbage.
Feeling your pain with this one. So frustrating! You handle it well, appreciate you showing the reality of RV life. We’ve been through similar, it isn’t easy. Hang in there, Hanks!
Appreciate that so much, thanks!
have a suggestion for all RVers, if possible always have new parts shipped to YOU and then you bring to the service appt yourself, might help eliminate issues like the one in this video.
It wasn't a fun time but not the worst situation
@@HappilyEverHanks Unacceptable. It's obviously a race to the bottom in the RV service industry. He didn't even apologize to you on the phone or offer to make it right at YOUR convenience. Ugly.
Be careful about leaving negative Yelp reviews people have been sued over it
@@tomwilliam5118 pretty sure you can’t be successfully sued for telling the truth.

i love how yall are not afraid to just calmly call out the rv service center and the problems they caused. good video and hope yall get your tank replaced.
We want to make sure we share it all
@@HappilyEverHanks that's good cause I have seen some people on here that will have a horrible experience from a service center but won't tell people who it is because they don't want to tarnish a businesses name, I'm thinking share the name so others don't make the same mistake.

You guys seem to be the only ones we know who isn’t 60 and is interested in the same things we are😊
@@williambranham6249 Lmao!! I wonder how many people will read your comment and think you’re really mad. Well, now I’ve blown it. 🤣😂
Thank you Paul and Patti, ya'll are always so supportive ❤️ Stay safe out there, we will keep you guys posted!
Renee, I’ve done the same. When service seems to be moving slow, I’ll stand in a place to be noticed. Sometimes even get on the phone with a “friend” and talk within hearing distance of customer service.
Love that tip!
Love your “glass half full” attitude as well as your awesome integrity.
Thank you very much Gary, this is so kind of you to say!
I'm so sorry for you guys. Not that I would make a difference but I wish I was there to help. That's definitely a frustrating situation.
Congrats!!! You guys will rock it 🤗
How is it going???
I’m glad I’m not the only one who has leveling problems. It’s so fun watching you guys, I need to get to the east coast sometime.
Y’all have taught me a lot when looking for a camper, just found y’all’s channel last week. I’m hoping to have a camper and being able to use it by the first of the year.
I wish you the best of luck. It took me 22 weeks to get ours, hope you have better luck than we did. 👍👍
Best of luck! Hopefully you find the perfect rig!
@@HappilyEverHanks done found it. I’m waiting on some property to sell
I worked at an auto dealer repair shop and that was one of our common excuses well the park came in without your name on it so it was used for another job. In other words we never ordered the parts
Oh geez.... Wishing you guys good luck, a speedy redelivery, and quick repair. Have fun during the rally guys!
Thank you Scott! You are so supportive! :)
@@HappilyEverHanks Thank you so much, what else can I say but…. Tanks Hanks!! Pet Dexter for me plz!!

We feel your pain. We dropped our camper off for warranty work with Camping World 🤮, and the wrecked it on the lot. Then they tried to fix it without telling us but we caught them when we showed up unannounced to check on the warranty work. So frustrating!!! Good luck.
Wow, that's really interesting
At that point I would tell them they just bought an RV and then call my lawyer to begin the lawsuit process of deceptive business practice.
@@patrickgniech7873lol camping world makes you sign a form saying you have to sit with a arbitrator before suing. Big red flag
We are new to RVing. Thank you guys for the great video’s. So nice to watch you two. We are learning a lot from your travels! Thanks for the knowledge and entertainment.
Watching you two is as entertaining as Netflix.
Luv watching you and letting us know about alot of places and things that go wrong.❤
Can't believe our timing. We weren't following Grand Design Rallies when we made our reservations at Ocean Lakes Campground for May 15-20th. We could have gone earlier. What a great campground and beach. We loved it. Can't wait for Part 2.......you both certainly roll with the punches.
They did have the rally at Lakewood Camping Resort but you'll see in part 2 🤗
Gypsy moths, try not to transport to other states, get rid of the cocoons on everything outside if you can. They will literally eat all the leaves off trees. Entire forests of leaves, not kidding. We have them in Michigan.
Good to know!
No joke…. They devastate trees.. I’ll never forget the early 80’s invasion, and the damage they did from PA and across New England…
I know it’s a year later. But I would have not left the office. I would have made the show they had it before opening up the belly.
Have then here in fla nature coast
Hang in there Hanks, I'm sending y'all positive vibes to the three of you! Stay safe, be well!
Such a pain. Juggling the travels around the repairs, definitely a headache. Positive vibes.
Thanks for the positive vibes!
I felt that. This is my life when it comes to getting repairs done. Finding reliable folks is hard.
Bummer!!
So sorry to hear that this happened to you Tony. It's an unfortunate reality. Stay safe friend, always a pleasure catching up with you!
Thanks so much!
We vacation at Myrtle Beach almost every summer for the last 50 years. It has changed alot over the years. Those camp sites are unbelievable. Hope y'all enjoyed it all.
Tent caterpillars, very destructive to trees, shrubs etc. They can strip a tree overnight of all its leaves.
Yikes!
They probably already know but would mention to local conservationists.
For sure on tent caterpillars.
Super frustrating! But every time I watch your videos, it puts me in a good mood. Silver lining moment.

We're excited for part 2!
@@evfisher44 Do you just edit or are you full on media specialist by chance?
Y’all have such a great attitude! Even in our sticks and bricks house, we have sudden setbacks like a leaky upstairs tub that ran down the walls to our first floor bathroom. Whether it’s an RV or a house, stuff happens and I applaud you for having a great attitude even when disappointed. Safe travels!
Well said!
That's no good!
Y’all handle that better than my wife and I. We love watching yall.
Good luck!
Very accurate!
I would rather repair the Rv myself than take it back there. Absolutely useless
Ugh this is such a mess!! Sending you all the positive vibes.
15:44 - ❤️❤️❤️ Dexter
I’m sorry guys. When this happens is so difficult. These days parts take so long to come. We are up for inspection next month and we are praying we don’t need anything. I hope they get the parts for you guys soon. It’s hard being with out your rv especially because it’s your home. I’m praying for a speedy turn around for your guys. Thanks for sharing.
We appreciate that, thanks!
That's the reality of RV service nowadays
You might checked all the TH-cam videos on plastic welding. It’s really quite easy and a handy thing to know being an RV owner. You can repair just about anything plastic. Took me 40 years to discover this as an option. In the last 6 months I’ve repaired a bunch of stuff I would have thrown away in the past. You might have been able to repair the tank. Check all the videos.
They did
We did some repairing but failed
So sorry about this carelessness. Positive vibes headed your way!
Yeah, it can be a bummer sometimes, we had to learn a lot about service on our own
Ok, that stick with marks on it to show you how far your slide goes out is the best idea I've ever seen! I'm going out to repurpose my broom right now.
Yes, doing it on the broom is so smart!
Oh wow, that's such a pain!
RV repair shops are like insurance companies. Disclaim, blame, lie.
This husband is very fast and very witty.
I enjoy
You guys handled this situation extremely well!! I would have been livid!!! I definitely would not be doing business with that service center again!!
Thanks Amber
problem is there are a lot of them out there, good rv shops are hard to find
I cancelled 4 mos. of reservations and lost a bunch of $$ because Airstream takes forever to repair anything. I am right there with you.
That's no fun, sorry you have to deal with that
I actually laughed out loud! "Will this person get on the elevator before the doors close???" voice over. Classic
🤣
I give you props, you stayed calm, not sure I would have just said, okay! Good job staying calm!
If we could return the camper and claim lemon law we would but it doesn’t qualify yet….
what camper did you buy?
Oh no!! We are so sorry that ya'll are going through this 😕 We hope things get addressed for your quickly, stay safe and keep us updated!
@@jamesgritz404 it’s a 2020 Forest River Arctic Wolf. Bought new in Jan.
We stayed at pirate land last year which is right beside lakewood. Tight spots but can't beat being able to walk to the beach from your camper.
How wonderful!! That sounds great being so close to the beach 😊
We feel you with this. We were getting baggage doors replaced and they "lost" our parts. We made a 500 mile trip for nothing. We know that much cursing happen after that camera turned off.
Oh my goodness, that is so frustrating...We are sorry to hear this 😕
Same experience.
Appreciate you sharing your story!
Thanks for sharing, Justin!
Hey!! Thanks so much for sharing and your support =)
S.C. is a great state.
More to share!
You two are so entertaining and I enjoy watching you. Keep it up! 😊
Aw, what a bummer! That dealership either sold it to another customer or installed it on another RV. They are very irresponsible.
Hey Denny, you are probably so right!
Thanks for sharing, Rick! More to come!
Yeah, probably what happened. Thanks so much!
And not like it is a small part!!
It’s inexcusable.
Wow, very common issue, seems like something simple to track but I guess not
This is one of those occasions that, knowing what I want to say, it is better that I refrain so I don't get placed on someone's red flag list. I can't believe how calmly you took this.
Thank you Larry, it has been quite the process. We will keep you posted. Stay safe friend!
Hey Karl uncle Mike here I never take my RV to a dealer! I either fix it myself or hire a roadwarrior to make repairs always had success! Love you guys 💗
Great advice Uncle Mike!
You got that right!
What a joke. We have been RV’ing a long time and these issues occur far too often. This RV dealership, and many others, are a disgrace. How do you lose a tank after telling the customer you have it and it’s ready to go? Time to find another stealership to have this repair done. Love the channel!!
Probably used it on another rig to get those people on the road and out of sight!
It's definitely an interesting situation
We live just under two hours from Myrtle Beach. Love the area. We're going to be at Ocean Lakes on the 11th. So sorry this happened to y'all. There is no excuse for them losing the tank - sloppy/poor service.
More to share on our MB adventures!
I feel your pain.
We are waiting for our AC to be fixed under warranty, our camper has been at the dealer for 3 weeks. If we do not get it back by next Friday, then we will have to cancel our three-week vacation.
Goodness David, we are so sorry to hear this... Keep us posted on how things progress
Thanks for sharing!

We appreciate that so much Tim, thank you!
You guys are the Best!!!😊 4:12
I feel your pain!! So unorganized it’s just crazy!! Hope you can get a tank and diy this problem! Safe travels to you!
More to come! thanks
We are newbies and LOVE THE HANKS! #THANKSHANKS
I feel for you! I've got pending issues with my Grand Design that are over 2 years old! My stealership could care less and Grand Design is pretty well with the mindset it's been a couple of years so it can't be much of an issue.
I definitely know which stealership will never see anyone penny from us.
So sorry that you guys are going through this...We wish ya'll the best. Stay safe out there ❤️
So sorry this is happening wish these dealerships or repair service would get this fixed where these issues don’t happen but good video keep them rolling you guys do a great job.
Oh my - how frustrating. How does one lose a gray tank? You guys handled it so well.
Thank you for introducing us to the pole idea for gauging the depth of the slide outs! That was genius level goodness!
Thank you Scott, Dexter is doing just dandy 😻 All the best to you friend, stay safe!
I feel your pain thats why I fix all my stuff myself cant relay on dealer and service techs and even when it's done it been done wrong or they breack somthing else in the process
For sure, that's smart!
