    I will be upgrading my rig with two Battle Born lithium batteries, two additional solar panels, an electronic door lock, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a Garmin RV GPS. This is going to cost me a fortune but I think it's a good investment.

    Two things that ought to be in every RV:
    1)Tesla Powerwall
    2) Small chest freezer 5-7 cubic feet.
    Powerwall will give you 3 days of power w/o running generator.
    Assumption, right or wrong. RV people most likely to fish. Fish storage > chest freezer. Also freezer leads to abundance of ice. Chest freezer doesn't lose cold every time you open door.

    I had a Fantastic Fan in my last RV and is on the list for the new one. The ice maker is now on that list. 👍. Have a 3000 watt generator and install 400 watts of solar. You need to add them, you’ll enjoy not having to run the generator.

    I have the same generator model with the same problem. You dont have to use propane to start it. You can spray ether or gasoline on air filter. If that doesnt work remove air filter and spray gasoline or ether inside air intake.

  • @MrBklein31
    @MrBklein31 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I love the same generator. I ONLY use it with propane. Then it doesn't get gummed up from fuel and I never gave to deal with carrying gas around. I agree with having an ice maker and make ice when plugged in and running constantly. Bagging ice and putting in the freezer is taking it to the next level. I use a plastic bucket in the freezer instead. Love my ice when camping! Great video!

    Regarding a macerator: you will use it often to drain tanks at RV parks because gravity does not always work with the elevation (or distant location) of the dump spot. A great investment at about $100.

  • @x14inchdubsx30

    some things you should consider is a dc to dc charger , and when time for a new generator get a honda invetor generator (you can have 2 and be enough to run ac) maybe a soft start for the ac. perhaps a inline water filter so all water including the ice maker is filtered

    Nice list! Please be careful with remote open/close systems. They're easy to bypass by people looking for signals. Keep your fob in a rfid pouch until you need to use it.

      If someone is camping how is someone going to steal their code?

    • @ToeTag1968
      @ToeTag1968 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mrs.c5471 The keyless entry fob emits the unlock code. A code grabber device scans for the signal to unlock from 150' or more. You wait for someone to sleep, scan for the fob signal in their rig. When the people are away from their RV/trailer, you emit the same code as the fob and the door unlocks. So you keep the fob in a faraday pouch so it's not out long enough for people to scan for the signal. Make more sense now?

    • @methuseus
      @methuseus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ToeTag1968 that's not how this device works. It only emits the unlock code when you press the button.
      What you're talking about are the keys for cars where you can press a button on the handle to unlock it. Those are constantly emitting the codes.
      That exploit had also been fixed in many newer cars as well.

    Absolutely agree with the ice maker. We have an outside kitchen where that things sits, and it's great. Keep distilled water there for it, and it will last a long time. We bought ours for about $100 in 2019, and it's still great. We keep it in the house when not camping and use it for extra ice for parties too. A whole-camper surge protector is also a great addition for piece of mind. We also bought some snap-together teak floor tiles from Ikea for under the outdoor shower. They allow water and debris to drain through while keeping you out of the mud.

    It amazes me how many people do not leave their truck plugged into their trailer while they're camped!
    I lived in my trailer for 4 years and I left the truck plugged into it every night I drove it a few minutes each day to charge the batteries on the truck which would charge the batteries on the trailer. All night I would leave the truck plugged in and I would use the lights in the trailer, I would use the water pump, I would use my 12 volt TV all evening and a 12 volt fan blowing on me all night long in hot weather.
    I'd use the fan on the on the heater when it got colder and my batteries never went low!
    Two batteries on the truck and one on the trailer and I never had to replace any of them!!!
    I love having 12 volt appliances in my trailer!
    There's lots and lots of 12 volt appliances on the market designed to run in cars and trucks and trailers and RVs and boats and anything else like that.
    And if you need more places to plug in those 12 volt appliances you have 12 volt light fixtures throughout your RV and you can wire in a 12 volt outlet right next to the 12 volt light fixture and have those all over your RV easily accessible!!!
    And if you're going to have several more batteries added to that that are high capacity batteries you won't have to start your truck nearly as often maybe just a couple times a week to charge the batteries!

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We did occasionally but John has a full time job away from rig and even while plugged into the truck, it was not enough energy to run things. Perhaps we need to get more 12 volt appliances. : )

    This video is about things that make camping more convenient right? The FIRST thing on my list if I am going to do a lot more camping is....................a portable dishwasher! Right now, I tent camp and over the years I also try to be environmentally conscious. I don't use disposable dishes anymore, we have a complete reusable set of dishes but it's a PITA to clean up, especially without a camper that has a sink and a place to dry stuff. I remember moving from my apartment to my condo and the two things I was most stoked about was in house washer and dryer and having a dishwasher.

      I got that lock, after buying and returning 2 other brands, I purchased this one even though it cost more because of the material (metal) and because the flexibility of the PIN number. I LOVE it! The only problem I’ve ever had was during a severe rainstorm with the rain blowing sideways and I guess it got inside a bit. The alarm was going off, but once it dried out, it worked like a charm. I love not having to carry keys with me when I’m riding my horse!

    You will need to check your batteries on your remote lock batteries often that are on your compartment storage locations. Remote lock in those locations are more prone to water/moisture corrosion damage if there is no slide or awning to block rain water running down on remote lock. You will see the corrosion in the battery compartment of remote lock.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We run across folks who don't use theirs - that's cool, each to their own. I imagine that we didn't think much about it initially because we were using it from the get-go.
      We drink, make ice, and cook with the fresh tank when boondocking. I think it would get to be too much of a hassle if we didn't because of all the bottled water we would need; also expensive. When hooked up at a campsite it runs through the same lines. I figure if I clean and sterilize the fresh tank then we should be good. No one has gotten sick from it in three years that we can tell. Also, we're very strict about only putting potable water in there.
      Thanks for watching!

    I went a bit crazy with a LiFePO4 power system with a generator backup and solar charging. It took time and money but worth every single hour and dollar. We effectively have indefinite power and very rarely need to run the super annoying generator. I run the 15k BTU A/C on battery. I run the coffee maker and microwave - all in the middle of nowhere. Freedom.

    I've been researching generators, I think that Champion doesn't start on gasoline because there's an electrically-actuated solenoid inside that controls a valve that shuts off the fuel, and there's an internal battery in the generator to run it. On top of that your pushbutton start doesn't work for the same reason, your battery inside the generator has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
    Can you run both your air conditoner and your microwave at the same time on that generator? That's my biggest hangup to buying one, I want to be able to do both at the same time.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  3 ปีที่แล้ว
