    I quickly repair a Seadoo Jetski that has a fuel pump that is not working.
    Jetski starts when squirting mixed gas in carb but will not run on it's own.

    Phenomenal video. My 96 sea Doo XP sat for 18 months. No start\combustion. Gumout to 3 carb nipples and hoses plus a bottle of heat in fuel tank plus a little start fluid in carb and lots of choking and it fired right up. Now starts and idles with a bump everytime... Time to test at the lake now. Thanks for the very practical solution! 👊🏼👍🏼👌🏼🤙🏼

    I find old lawnmowers and weedeaters on the side of the road out for trash pick up. All I do is empty the fuel tank, squirt some gum out through the carburetor add a little fresh fuel, and they always start and run fine. I imagine a small or medium size carburetor on something like this is similar. The little jets can get clogged up with gas that has turned to jelly. Gasoline only lasts about three months. After a year yeah… It’s very important to winterize. If you don’t think you will be using it within the next few weeks it’s probably good to shut off the fuel and if it doesn’t have one, add a fuel shut off like on a riding mower. It will save you a lot of frustration.

    I had a problem with my 92 SP it would start and die. Turns out my problem was inside the gas tank the 2 pick up fuel line inside the fuel tank had dry rotted and fallen off and the fuel could not be sucked up to carb i did this after I rebuilt the entire fuel system that didnt need it. oh well live and learn . also a very simple repair..

    Going to try this because I do DO NOT want to rebuild the carbs, dual carbs

      it is not gloom and doom, i had the same issue because of poor gas pickup design the seadoos have a hard time priming themselves after setting. the grey or reddish goop from the plug holes is excessive oil mixed with cylinder compressed water vapor. i added gas to each plug hole and let the starter turn the engine with rags over the plug holes. after several repeat cycles the goop was gone. the widely overlooked issue is the poor fuel design, when the carbureted engines set for a while, the gas in the lines and carbs evaporate making the engine difficult to start. i pulled the return fuel line off and used a vacuum brake bleeder to prime the line and carbs. it worked well for me.

    Thanks, I just bought one and it runs on carb cleaner, but I know it's beens sitting since 2014 from the previous owner. I'm hoping the fuel pump itself is good? If not got to buy another one

    • @DansEverythingOutdoors
      @DansEverythingOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good news the fuel pump is just a diaphragm on the carb. May not even have to pull the carb to replace. Usually carb cleaner in the line will break the diaphragm pump loose from being stuck. Other times it gets too stiff or has a crack or hole. In that case you would replace. still a pretty simple job. Good luck

    What's better seafoam spray ?? Or gumout carb cleaner

    • @DansEverythingOutdoors
      @DansEverythingOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Brayan, I'm not sure I am qualified to answer that. I have used gum out for years and loved it for cleaning carbs both inside and out. It cuts through carb gum extremely well but I am not sure how safe it is for entering a 2 stroke engine compression cycle. Afraid to dry out the oil fuel mixture. Seafoam says that it is safe for gas, diesels and 2 strokes mixed fuels so that is why I use it for my Jet Skies. It also cleans well and can be added to the fuel mix or directly injected. Hope that helps.

    It's also pretty easy to rebuild the cars on these. Sometimes those carb cleaners are hard on the rubber parts inside the carb.

      I'd agree. Rebuilding carbs is a great option but you may need to set the pop off for the float and that can be tricky for some people

    What about putting sea foam in the gas tank ?

    • @DansEverythingOutdoors
      @DansEverythingOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question Hyd Oil. When the pump is not working it is not able to get it from the tank to the carb. Seafoam spray in the lines like I used carb cleaner in this video would likely have worked as well. Also, I had seafoam in the tank but it did not work for reason I just mentioned.

    • @DansEverythingOutdoors

      try blowing back into the line from the carb end. See if the air blows into the gas tank. You should hear it bubbling. Yes, you may get some gas on your lips so warning. Likely your line is blocked or restricted.

    • @DansEverythingOutdoors
      @DansEverythingOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you know if they put in new quality needles and set the Pop-off pressure? Sounds like fuel is not getting delivered consistently. Also check your fuel filter and lines for any obstruction or collapsing. If you have the old grey lines replace them. The inner part of them decays and ends up clogging the fuel system.

    • @robkellerman4666
      @robkellerman4666 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bad fuel tank check valve can cause a vacuum in the tank, starving fuel delivery.

    • @DansEverythingOutdoors

      @@ismaeltorres990 It should be starting then. I have heard that some of the older jet skies use a magneto for spark. If so then the flywheel pin could be sheered and knocking off the timing. I have not personally experienced this but you should check your timing.

    What if it was run out of gas and wont start after refueling?

    • @DansEverythingOutdoors
      @DansEverythingOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you would have to take off the aspirator and put some fuel in the carbs. In this case your fuel pump may need to be replaced but in most cases it has gas residue on the diaphragm that is causing it to stick. You could do as in this video or pull off the pump diaphragm and clean it.
