Atleast it was something you did and not a defect that caused it to sink. I personally had a SeaDoo sink on me in the ocean when I was about 16 years old..terrifying experience and was the reason I left the brand for good. Glad you got your ski back up and it wasn’t a loss!

Glad to see whats involved if they take on water. I bought a Sea Doo Switch at the begining of the year. There have been a few reported issues with the exhaust not being properly clamped from the factory and taking in water, which wasn't your exact issue. Thanks for the video and info, maybe we'll cross paths on the Gulf Coast one of these days since I'm not to far from Mobile in Gautier, MS.

THIS HAPPENED TO ME! There wasn't a clamp at all! Check your hose! I've had it for less than 2 months. I took a turn hard and it popped off. It went into drowned mode. Didn't know what was happening. Got towed in and called the dealer. The dealer said the mode would turn off after 15 minutes and I probably had a bad throttle connection or something. It wouldn't crank after 15 minutes. I had brought it back to the dock. I looked into the engine compartment and it had 18 inches of water. I was able to winch it half way onto shore. The bilge pump wouldn't get the water down. I bought a pool sump pump and turned that on with the bilge pump. It drained it enough to see the exhaust had popped off. 3 inch hose pouring water in. Fortunately the boat weighed a lot less with all that water off and I was able to pull it almost all the way onto shore. So it stopped taking on water.

Get the water out. Tip it upside down if you have to. Then pour oil into place possible inside the motor. If it had crabs, pour in there. Pull the plugs, dump a shit ton into the case and pistons. Do this until u can get it apart or serviced properly if not doing yourself. If any water is left the oil will keep from rusting. If you’re able to get the majority out, try to start it asap. It will burn up any water left in the motor. I know from experience

Just bought a brand new RXTX. Sunk in the first 3 hours. I pick it back up tomorrow and was told it was a seal from BRP factory not seated correctly. I plan on contacting BRP to see if this is true and what they are going to do for me. I have a sense the dealership is lying to me which is why I want to reach out to them... I never saw the dark side of Seadoo till I had my issue. Lost me as a future customer. No way I put my family on one of these even brand new.

They can't sink , they're full of styrofoam . Flush it out, pull the plugs, change the oil , and go riding . Of course after you replace the seal. I just had one do that last week, I felt the rear end sagging, but it was an 06 215hp. I jumped off, dragged it back to shore , of course you get water in the cylinders if you drag them too fast unless you pinch off the hose with the red tape on it. Anyway pulled the plugs to blow out the water, and it started right back up, changed the oil , and all's well again. This wasn't my ski , it's one I was working on for a some guy I know at the lake. It's old though, all the seals , rubber boots etc.. needed to be changed, I'm surprised it stayed a float as long as it did. My personal ski is an 08, and has close to 400hrs., and still hasn't sunk, I might change the carbon seal at the end of this summer, it's well over due. If it sinks , I'll swim back to shore, and go back , and get it, it won't go 100% down. lol I sunk a few boats in my day too, always have to check rubber bellows, really on the I/O boats, and those exhaust bellows on inboards, they pop off, you go down fast . Good idea to install a $50 automatic bilge pump, wired right to the battery. If you see water shooting out the side of your ski, you better head to shore.

Is it just me, but aren't you NOT supposed to tow a SeaDoo because of how they're designed? I'm under the impression that they will intake more water when you tow them.

If you tow above 10km/h, you must clamp off a particular hose, don't recall what it is called. Keep a pair of vice grips on board to use as a clamp if needed.

Sounds like your defending a brand lol,
Please don’t make excuses for a poorly designed ski,
My Mexican made carbon seal failed as soon as it touched the water lol, almost couldn’t get it back on the trailer it was half full after only a few minutes of running in my machine from brand new...
I love these machines but when people blame the customers for a poor design, I think that’s a bit shallow considering most people ride there skis hard. We maintain them but we ride them hard. Fortunately we don’t have to make excuses for the two other manufacturers,
You have to ask yourself why is there a dedicated Facebook group for sinking seadoos. Worst part is. It’s almost updated daily with seadoos sinking. Blame who you want. But if your suggesting that all seadoo owners don’t know how to look after their machines. Well we’re working with a lot of coincidences here,
      Where there’s smoke. There’s fire
I’m over defending a brand that won’t change their designs to match that of its competitors that don’t take your money for the rest of the life of the ski.
Seadoo has so many ware parts that they just keep taking your money...
It’s a shame. Seadoo some how has a good name but a bad reputation. So everyone rather live the seadoo life than the ugly Yamaha lifestyle lol,
But at least the yammy will get you home dry
Edit, this bloke just called the majority of his customers dumb and don’t know how to maintain a ski.
      Either you’re right lol
Or that’s not a very nice thing to say
