    You were smart to travel to an experienced surgeon. We were very lucky that he moved from MD Anderson to our city just when we needed him. He and Dr. Roy are great surgeons.

    All, I did end up with papillary thyroid cancer and had a total thyroidectomy March 5, 2018 at the Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida - I have posted a few videos of my post-thyroidectomy now for you to see. I am doing great!

      @@helenb5191 Hi Helen - I just posted an update video last week on my 1 year - see it on my site. I am doing really well - lots of ups and downs this last year and medicine changes due to no thyroid and now being hypoparathyroidism too due to damage to my parathyroids after surgery. I am finally starting to feel more normal just passing my 1 year mark after surgery.

      @@helenb5191 , yes, feeling great (finally after a year of up and down). I am on lots of treatment both for my hashimotos and now my new hypoparathyroidism with requires tons of calcium/magnesium/vitamin D each day and another prescription of vitamin D - plus other supplements to help you absorb everything. But I finally have most balanced out and really feeling like my old self. My voice and energy may never be the same again but I am grateful each day for my health. :)

      @@aliyahossaini8772 My symptoms were all associated with Hashimoto's - so extreme fatigue, very cold all of the time, hair falling out, weight gain, constipation - I think these were the main ones. How are you feeling? Do you have hashimoto's? Any thyroid issues?

      Thank you for explaining the color! My doctor let me take a picture of the ultrasound screen and I sent it to a good friend who is a radiologist. He wrote back that highly probably that it is benign!. Either way, trusting the Lord and thankful to be on the healthy journey.

    • @raisinganentrepreneur748
      @raisinganentrepreneur748  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bruise ended up just being about a quarter size dark purple right where the 6 needles went in. Is still a bit sore but getting better. Thanks for asking. Now I can clearly see the nodule and especially when I swallow.

    I would not be comfortable with this doctor as it seems he was a little unsure of what he was doing with your biopsy. I just had one done and also had six needles (not including the local injection), but all six resulted in visible tissue samples, verified by a pathologist standing by in the same room. This was reassuring as I know they were doing everything possible to prevent having to repeat the biopsy. It sounds like you also have an isthmus nodule, and bruising is completely normal. If your biopsy needs to be repeated, you may wish to request that it be done in a hospital radiology department like I had done. (I'm just assuming that this was done in his office.) Also, it is impossible to visually diagnose malignant versus benign nodules as there are too many similarities between both; and even biopsies aren't hugely reliable in thyroid nodules. Statistics are on your side as so few are malignant in adults. Did you get a definitive result from the biopsy? Best wishes, and keep us posted!

    Thank you for sharing your experience having a biopsy in the neck area. wonder if it would hurt much without the lidocaine .

      I talked to my friend Kathleen who does this without the lidocaine and she says that it is completely bearable - uncomfortable for sure but she does it this way twice a year. I am not brave enough to try that just yet! God bless.

    Why did u have to get 6 needles

    • @raisinganentrepreneur748
      @raisinganentrepreneur748  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. They use one needle at a time as they "suck" up the nodule cells into the needle then pull that out. Then, they change to a new needle and repeat. My doctor had to do it six times as he felt he wasn't getting the right "content." I think they might also not restick you with the same needle due to infections, etc. So they start with another needle. They then send all 6 samples to the lab.
