- 23 years before Jorge Martin won his first premier class title with a satellite team, Valentino Rossi previously held the title for the last satellite world champion, and in this video, we will be going through that championship winning season, and also why his first crown will always been unique compared to his other titles.

it's quite ironic all satellite champions used the latest factory spec bike
This
Not to mention that the Nastro Azzuro Honda team isn't really satelite, as the team were run and funded by Honda Europe
Rossi 100% raced latest spec, Jorge raced latest model but not necessarily the latest spec, that's 2 different technicalities.
And Jorge was a true satellite rider while Rossi was a proper factory rider, I fact Honda's priority.
@@ducedevlstear2471No, both raced latest spec guaranteed by Ducati and Martin was a factory rider directly employed by Ducati and sort of lend to Pramac
He had the latest bike and Mick Doohan’s pit crew. It was a factory team just not in Repsol colours.
Rossi's 2000-2001 Honda was a 100% Factory spec bike. The team wasn't a Satellite team even though it looked like it at the time. Mick Doohan was meant to be Rossi's team-mate for the 2000 season but he had a bad crash during the 1999 season that forced him to retire. This is why Rossi was the only rider in that team. All Repsol Honda did was split-up their 4 bike team from 1999 for season 2000-2001.
This. And the team was funded and ran by Honda Europe
The reason why Honda didn't put him in the Repsol Honda on that time was actually because the slot at the factory Honda team were full
@@mArvAlcao71 the true reason was Rossi's contract with Nastro Azzuro.
@ducedevlstear2471 should be no effect. Nasto Azzuro remained as Rossi's personal sponsor until 2004
@@mArvAlcao71 yes but he's had contract as main sponsor with them still active when he stepped into the main class.
Rossi is also the current reigning 500cc Champion and will remain so forever. That's also a fun thing to consider, as in 2002, was the start of the transition to the 800cc MotoGP bikes
2002 introduced 990's, 800's came in 2007.
🤦🏼♂️ kids today come up with all sorts of excuses for their darling being expired and beaten.
@ the hell are you talking about?!
@@ducedevlstear2471what, you mean like Marquez 😂
@FelixMaiwald-v2c last time I checked Rossi never did that much since Marc showed.
Or even since Stoner and Lorenzo did.
I enjoyed this video
also a fun fact Ducati is Owned by Volkswagen
Technically Audi but the VAG company is vast from Skodas to Bugatti
Only had 168hp believe it or not
Wsbk at the time had 200hp bikes competing at the same time
The thing about Rossi. He won against riders who never won in MotoGP.. Says a lot about the Level of Competition he had his whole career. The moment Lorenzo came to MotoGP. It was over for Rossi. He had a lucky window imo.
Nah Rossi did hit a lucky window but he's still one of the greatest, only behind Marquez and Stoner in terms of skill and talent.
@@Mcali1984 or Rossi is the reason those riders never got their MotoGP championships. Have you considered that?
@@CobraAce04 look at their careers stats. That says all you need to know about the other riders. That’s like saying Mir is goated or something since he won 1ship with only 171 points. Come on now. Be realistic here.
Rossi was 29 when he won his last championship. 29. That’s not. Marquez is 31 on an inferior bike beating some of the fastest guys the sport has ever seen. I’m a WSBK fan. MVDM to be exact. But even I can see Rossi was lucky he got in when he did.
Mick Doohan is Father of Jack
his son will race in f1 in 2025
If I m not wrong he made his debut last race
@@harbard642 abu dhabi 2024 yes
He was not a satellite champion so stop talking porkies !
He was on full HRC bike on Honda payroll with the best staff Honda had at that moment.
yeah no. it was a full factory effort, it was just a title sponsor for some beer not a team owner, 250 he was on an aprillia works team, because it was a title sponsor it mean that it had to be entered with their name
will Pramac and and Gresini Join WEC?
for Example
Gresini Team (Lamborghini) - LMDh
- Enea Bastianini
- Isack Hadjar
- Luca Ghiotto
Gresini Team (Ford) - LMGT3
- Jack Doohan
- Mick Doohan
- Fermin Aldeguer
Pramac (Porsche) - LMDh
- Francesco Bagnaia
- Jorge Martin
- Tom Dillmann
Pramac (Porsche) - LMGT3

Remove Tom Blomqvist. Just put Fermin Aldeguer.
