    I recently purchased a P365 that was build on 4/8/18 (gen 2). I've fired over 1,200 rounds w/ various ammo types. No issues with either mag or any ammo. I love my new concealed carry choice. The design, capacity, sights, trigger, grip, and engineering can't be beat, for now.

    Well done as usual Justin. Looks like a weak spring in the flush fit mag to me. I'm approaching 1,400 rounds in my 365 without any kind of failure. 👊

    Good deep dive as usual. You can’t really appreciate how small this gun is until you hold one. I handled one yesterday and was really blown away at how small it was. I almost bought it, but saw a used like new Cz p01 and bought that instead. I’ve never really been a micro gun type guy otherwise i would have bought the p365 a while ago. I can see myself owning one in the future though

    I haven’t any issues with my p365, 100% reliable! Only primer drag but I dont know if that is really a problem. Right?

    I have 3, no issues with these guns now. truly great pistols all of them. 365, 365Xl, and the SAS. (You can order a sas slide for the regular 365 non ported on Sig website.)

    Thoroughly enjoy all your videos, very educational especially for a newbie like me. Your humor makes watching your videos so enjoyable. As for the p365, I've had the same issue but not quite as often as you do. Looking forward to Part 2 and those that follow for some answers with your insights and observations over the coming year with the p365 (and some humor from you and your commentators!).

    Regarding the slide not locking back with the 10 rounders....I'm willing to bet that your hand is forced higher up on the grip with the 10 round pinkey extension and even higher with the flush fit in order to get a better grip on the gun and the reason it's locking back with the 12 rounder is because you have more to hold onto with the mag extension so your hand doesn't have to ride as high up on the grip, thus allowing the slide to lock back without interference from your hands/thumbs.

  • @TheGunfighter45acp
    @TheGunfighter45acp 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very well done. The accuracy, compactness & ergos on this Sig are great. I hope the issues w/the flush mag get resolved. In my mind, the 10 rounder is the sweet spot. The higher cap mags are definitely nice, but not nice enough IMO, that I'd use them instead of just going w/15 rounders in a P series.

    It appears that, when you are shooting one handed, the gun makes a kind of twisting movement that pulls the gun toward the unsupported side. I don't know if this is what is causing the failure to lock back or not. I just purchased a P365 recently, but, due to a shoulder injury (rotator cuff tear that will require surgery), have not had an opportunity to get it to the range yet. I have looked a quite a number of reviews of the P365, some showing this problem and some not. It appears that this gun may, and i do say MAY be sensitive to this kind of movement because, in reviewing the footage of a number of shooters, this movement appears to be a common possible factor. Once my shoulder heals, I will certainly get mine out and put it through its paces. I will let you know my results. I enjoy your videos. They are well produced and unbiased. Please keep them coming.

    I usually shoot better with my pinky hanging off the grip. I find it interesting that so many others just have the hardest time without the pinky. I prefer the short grips for carry as well. Always carry the longer mags as spare. When i carry my 26 in a shoulder holster i carry a 17 mag in offside with +2 baseplate. Have lots of rounds on board without grip digging into my side.

    750 rounds through mine. No problems but I don’t dry Fire this pistol. Because , i dry fire a double single action. Don’t have to rack the slide. I do have firing pin drag on spent casings. My gun smith said he didn’t see any issues as he has seen way worse. It has not locked back twice.

  • @robertmcnab7575
    @robertmcnab7575 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I've been freeze framing your video, and it looks to me, like the pistol is naturally recoiling up, and to the left. When it does this, your your right (shooting) thumb, is impacted by the slide release in recoil, forcing it down (I'm sure you don't even feel this). As soon as the pistol returns to shooting position, your thumb is no longer in contact with the slide release. I was having the same problem with mine, until I started holding it as I would a revolver (with the thumbs more up and away), and this seems to have cured the problem for me.

    I don’t see anything wrong with your shooting. It’s really strange how it doesn’t lock back half the time. I would guess it’s the mag spring in your flusher. I’d change out he base plates of your pinky extended mag and see what happens then. I only have 300 through mine so far and not a single hiccup. Keep us posted, great video BTW.

    Wow, a Sig that's not sitting 3/4" too high in the hand, nice to see that slide sitting much lower and 10 +1 is also nice. The high bore axis and muzzle flip is the one thing that has always kept me from ever buying and keeping a Sig.

    I am a Southpaw and have about 300 rounds through my 365 with a Sig green laser. I think
    Your slide not licking problems happen only with 115 gr ammo. I don’t remember this happening to you with 124, 135 or 147 gr ammo, and the fact that it happens intermittently indicates it happens with the lighter 115 grain loads not giving enough recoil to force the slide back quite far enough to lock open sometimes. Try some higher velocity 115 grain loads and see if that eliminates the problem.

      There's already been one major update to correct wear issues on the slide and barrel due to tolerance issues iirc, and now the current guns are having broken strikers and dead triggers. I really want one but am waiting awhile longer.

    First time I've ever had a bullet casing come apart and leave the bullet itself in my barrel when I went to rack my slide today. Luckily it fell out with no damage after a little bit. Still a great sidearm I completely trust it and highly recommend any

  • @eking6549
    @eking6549 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I purchased one today. It was born on Feb 2019. BOY WAS I WRONG. Today it has the following issues within 200 rounds of Winchester white box 115 grain round nose ammo. 1) NO strike and not light strike. This happened within the first 100 rounds. Heard and felt striker but the casing did not have a scratch on the primer. Reloaded it and it fired the second time 2) All casings showed extreme striker drag to the edge of the primer 3) Worst of all the barrel showed pinging damage to the point that you can cut your finger on it. It is a new style barrel that has the relief cut on it. I called Sig and it is on its way back! WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK. The capacity is there, the ergonomics are good, the accuracy is exceptional and the sights are great BUT if it goes click instead of bang it is not fit for EDC.

    I bought a 100 round Winchester white box. 7 failures to fire. Those rounds fired the second time though. I think it was the primers and not the gun. I switched to the range’s ammo..with zero problems . I carry with the 115 grain v_crown sig hollow point ammo made for the this specific gun...which the gun really loves. Gun was born February 2019.

  • @Tracker48
    @Tracker48 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The only thing I observed was It appears when you shoot it at a slower tempo it will not lock back all of the time, but when you shot it "Rapid Fire" it seemed to lock back every time. Possibly and I am just throwing this out would be recoil spring is a little to week for the slide!

    • @davidelizabeth4933
      @davidelizabeth4933 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Cetrulo He holds it firmer during rapid fire. Slow fire with more relaxed grip = more recoil give. The recoil spring is too heavy for some of the range ammo he's shooting.

    I think I'd try to disassemble the the 10 rd flush mag and give it an inspection and cleaning. Probably, a weak spring, so the cleaning most likely will not correct the issue but you could try it and see. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work! Thanks!

  • @timoneil920
    @timoneil920 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    i am thinking it might be ammo related if all the failures are happening on the 115 grain ammo it might not be pushing the slide that little bit more it needs to catch the mag catch.

  • @andrewzovishlack2751
    @andrewzovishlack2751 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you stop riding the slide release you will have better luck with the weapon locking back after the last round is fired. I had the same problem at first because I own mostly Glock handguns and your thumb and the rest of your fingers are far away but with the sig P365 with cut relieves and how small it is makes it easy to barely push on the slide release and it will never lock back.

    • @JustinOpinionChannel
      @JustinOpinionChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Care to explain how it happens when shooting with one hand??

    • @andrewzovishlack2751
      @andrewzovishlack2751 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure while watching your video you had a thumb barely touching the slide release and that is all it takes because when you are shooting their is a decent amount of force coming back when the slide is coming back at you and you just barely have to touch the slide release. I am left handed so shooting as a lefty one handed it don’t happen because no thumb on that side. All of you righty’s, 95% of the population your thumb is right there. If that isn’t the problem I would contact Sig. maybe yours didn’t get the updates that I keep hearing about. Mine is an NRA edition P365 made in July of 2019.

And these are the only two 9s small enough to possibly barely fit in my pocket. 938 also lighter and not sure if i want the extra 4 rounds of weight in my pocket.

    Love my shield but don't carry it anymore. I found a really good holster and have been carrying a GLOCK 19 lately. After saying I would never own a Glock.
    The 19 is the sweet spot. Once I got the P365 I never even considered the 43 because of round capacity.
    I also LOVE my little 365. It has been flawless. Probably going to carry it once it gets hot and sticky outside soon. The 12 rounders makes this little guy a winner for sure.

    My gen 2 (9/19) had a misfire in one out of 20 rounds until I ran about 250 rounds through it which makes me think it may have been a wear in issue. SIG actually says so on their website. I get occasional no slide lock back with 115 grain ammo but never with anything more powerful.

    To rule out the mag change the spring and follower out with the good one.
    I suspect it's the spring and or follower. I am a Glock guy and just bought the p365 for myself for Christmas. 375 flawless rounds. With that said Glock has had many follower changes. This my be an issue of molding. I was a QC engineer for plastics and they do change find and are not as stable as one would like.

    I have a Ruger Lightweight CMD 9mm, and it intermittently won’t lock back. I turned to google for a solution, and a LOT of people said loose followers can move away from the slide release lock back thingy inside the frame, and lo and behold, almost all of my Ruger mags failed the test. I can’t recall the exact test, because I’m sick in bed....lol! It’s the only 1911 I have in 9mm, so I bought some Mecgar mags. Their followers don’t have any side to side play, and they performed perfectly.

    When you have the last round chambered, the mag-follower is pushing-up against the slide-lock ready to hold-open the slide at recoil. I think that the notch in the slide needs moved forward a few thou.. The tolerance between the barrel, takedown-pin and front of the slide when under full recoil selects the spot for the slide hold-open cutout-location(remember that Sig modified the recoil-spring). With this pistol at its max potiental the fitting of these parts is criticle. Just something to think about.

    Nice dive. As far as I can tell she was topless. Demonitized. Oh wait. They probably did anyway.
    That's a good potential diagnosis of the slide lock issue. Given the thin polymer in the grip due to the new design, might there be more flex that changes the geometry enough for the slide catch to miss? Or perhaps like you said, your grip (or anyone's for that matter) might similarly alter the magazine relationship to the slide by pressing the bottom somehow, again by virtue of the thin polymer?
    In any case it seems to me that this is the most heavily scrutinized (and criticized) new 9mm ever due to the proliferation of TH-cam gun channels (yours still stands above most obvs). Sadly the ratio of misleading or mistaken to meaningful content was difficult to calculate up front.

    I believe your guide rod spring is to strong. Theory, the spring is closing it so fast it doesn't have enough time to always grip this mag follower. Just a thought. Thanks for the demonstration and real rest. My p365 is on the way. My so called gen 2.

    Can you try shooting the SIG 365 115gr carry ammo?

    I've never been first on a vid comment. Love your vids super great material. Was confused about the chick diving in the beginning then I realized you were being cheeky lol. Love Sig and I need to get a P365 to add to my German P229. Cheers Justin!!!

    Do you have the firing pin drag on your primers? Sorry if it was in the video I didn’t have 35 minutes to watch the whole video...

    My P365 does the same thing with that flat base mag. I made sure it want me...its something with that one mag. I haven't had it do it with the extended base 10rd yet.

    Nice videos!
    I've had a broken striker at 600 rds and a bunch of dry firing.
    7-800 since getting it back from Sig and it's chugging along nicely.
    Love the gun. I can hit very well with it. All out proportion to it's size. Great sights, great trigger.
    I too have to smack a full mag in with the slide down.
    I've had ftlb a few times. I've tried watching my grip and it seems to help.
    I've had one fail to eject with federal aluminum cased ammo. The rim ripped off the case. Hard to blame the gun for that.
    A few hundred more and the G43 will likely be staying home. :)

    Possibly, it may be a low powered round that does not make the slide cycle back to the rear far enough to hit the slide stop and hold the slide open. Of course, i prefer the slide to hold open, but I don't think it is a show stopper for me. IMO, this is not something to obsess over. Once the gun goes click instead of pow; I simply drop the mag, insert a loaded mag, and rack the slide. I don't stop and stare at the slide and ejection port. Try it with quality reloads that you know are not under powered.

      I have tried shooting w my middle finger not because of necessity, but just simply because I could and curiosity. I see where you're coming from. It is kinda unique but not that difficult. Wish you all the best. Good luck and God Bless!

    How do those magazines compare (diameter-wise) to CZ 75 mags? I'm wondering if the sig mags are smaller than others or did they just fit a really small grip around the magazine?

    Good vid Justin. I’m skeptical of the magazine. Not behaving correctly. Just got my P365 back from Sig, Firing pin broke after 350 rounds and 250 dry fires. Recommend you check the firing pin every day before you holster for carry. Mine has no bang after a dry fire session at the range.

      How do u check it ?

    • @Timrh23
      @Timrh23 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First clear and unload the gun. Easiest way to check is hold the slide open, push up on the safety plunger and push the striker forward. It will protrude from the breech face if the pin is in tact.

    Can't effectively talk about accuracy if you change the stock configuration. I've owned one for several months and can tell you it is one of the best pistols I own. Even my wife liked it enough to sell her Kimber and buy one.

    Ok. So basically, pull the slide off and re-install the slide stop and a magazine. Push the follower away from the slide stop tab, and if the follower slips off completely, that’s the problem.
    Edit: I only own one striker fired pistol, so you won’t need to reinstall the slide stop...lol!

    I have the same issue with 50% of chance for the FTLB. Did you guys really figure out why (lots of expl went to the grip but it does not seem to be an issue for me as for gripping) or has any one of you sent it back to Sig? I have see online threads someone sent it back to Sig and Sig "did something to fix" and then it never happened again but sig would not tell what they did to "fix" it. I also noticed some dents patterns on my Mag follower surface and I don't if I am the only one experiencing this issue though.
