For years, I felt like the Glock 26 was obsolete. I’ve carried a Glock 43X for several years now and love it. However, I shot a Glock 26 for the first time today. I couldn’t believe it, but the perceived recoil was about HALF that of my 43X. I then got to thinking, “I can feed this thing with my G19 and G17 magazines!” I got home from the range and bought my own G26 online today. This gun is nothing to sleep on.

I carried a 26 gen 3 for 5 years now and considering to switch to a 43x because of carry comfort, i am concerned about the recoil, especially reading comments like yours, about a doubled recoil gives me not much confidence with this decision, problem is i can only have one and dont know if its a wise choice to have a 10 round gun as the one and only gun. After years of practice, how shootable do you think can the g43x can get? And did you carry the g26, how much of a comfort difference did you realise?

Same. Rented a Glock 26 Gen 5 and shot noticeably tighter groups than my P365. Gen 5 triggers in general shoot way better in my opinion. The only thing that really feels dated on the 26 is the lack of an accessory rail.

The difference between the other 10-12 rounders is almost negligible. So, because capacity counts, I’m currently deciding between the Sig Xl, X - Macro, or the Springfield Hellcat. I got into the Glock 26 because of law enforcement. When my department switched from the Glock 21 to the Glock 17 I picked up a Glock 26 to replace my Glock 30 as my backup gun. The 26 may be an "aged" design but it shoots incredibly well and I like that I can feed it with larger magazines off my belt if I need to.
My favorite of the Micro Compacts is the Shield Plus though, I had a Gen 1 Shield since they got released in 2012, never upgraded it to the M2.0, but when I saw the Plus came out fits in all the same holsters and holds significantly more ammo with the M2.0 grip I picked one up and I have been very happy with it.

  • @PPISAFETY
    @PPISAFETY ปีที่แล้ว +14

I guess this just shows that different guns work best for different people. If you are some guy working mostly in an office, it probably doesn't matter a lot what you pick to carry as long as it is reliable. But if you factor in use by armed professionals, the Glock 26 has some advantages. For example, when I was a police officer, I carried a full-sized Glock in my holster and a G26 strapped to my boot as a backup. I could feed the smaller gun off the same magazines. Try that with a SIG P365. I've flown into places for work as a protection agent where I've needed to quicly replace something like lost magazines or a holster, and I can get such things just about anywhere for a Glock, including in Third World countries. When I get off the plane in one of those places and am handed a gun to use because I can't bring my own, it will more likely than not be a Glock 9mm so I have no need to do anything different than I do at home. And in the unlikely event that one of my Glocks breaks, thanks to Glock having provided me with a no-cost Armorer's school, I can repair my gun from a baggie of small parts I carry with me on the road. Try that with a SIG P365.
The video mentioned that the P365 is probably cheaper when its sights are considered. This may be true, but ignores Glock's Blue Label pricing for qualified professionals. I can buy a brand new Glock 26 for $399. I spend 15 minutes installing my preferred sights, Trijicon HD's, check zero and I'm good to go for just over $500, so pricing is a wash for me. I also only need to stock one type of relatively inexpensive factory spare magazine for all of my Glock 9mm pistols. When you own enough magazines to matter, that is a big deal. I typically carry my G26 with a factory +2 floorplate in-gun and a G17 spare magazine, giving me a load-out of 30 rounds. I live in hot and humid South Florida and have zero issues in carrying this setup.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a SIG P365 as a citizen's carry gun, but the Glock 26 has some real advantages for those who make their living with a gun. I also shoot my G26 well out to 50 yards, just like a larger gun, and I cannot reallly do that with the P365 although others may be able to or don't care if they can. Running a test on an indoor range at 25 feet hardly evaluates the uses I might have to put my carry gun to. The Glock 26 has been meeting my needs since the late 90's and I see no reason to change now just to get a gun that is a bit thinner or lighter. When I go out armed with the G26, I am carrying a "no compromise" sidearm. Others may feel differently, and that is okay.

I have to reluctantly admit that recently I found that I can pull my g26 gen 5 out of the safe having not shot it for months and place 10 rounds in a 2 inch group at 10 yards. I can’t do that with my P365 or P365XL no matter how much I practice. I’m likely going back to my G26 and I don’t like to admit I even own glocks. It definitely depends on the person as to what works best.

As a side note my G 26 stovepiped brand new out of the box. Also, the brass was ejecting unevenly. When the brass ejected straight up, the gun would not feed properly. It went back to Glock Inc. in GA. They replaced the ejector and firing pin. It now shots like a champ.

For me, P365X is considerably more accurate with the grip length than the smaller P365 grip - yes, a little longer "horn" but a claw cures that. I was never happy with how X Macro fit my man-size hands, but I did love how it carried. Because I was accurate enough with it, I figured that I could make the compromise and switch to the P365 platform. I have been a Glock end user for over two decades, and I have never had a failure that was not from ammunition or a lack of routine maintenance. I changed the sights right after I bought it to Truglo TFX Pro sights. Why did I go back to the G26? Because it is simple and will take any standard Glock mag I am willing to put in it. I never bought a P365 or a G43 or the variants of either of those guns, because for me both guns are too slim for me and hard for me to grip comfortably. The G26 is short and my pinky falls off, but I can get my middle and ring fingers around the G26 much better than I can on the P365 or the G43. Thou I am a Sig P320 fan boy, my G26 will always be one of my go-to, reliable, favorites.

P365x is the way to go. When you get the Magguts mag extensions you can get 14+1 in a flush mag or 17+1 extended. The P365x also come with the optics cut.

I just got the sig for Christmas my step dad is a huge sig guy and they were in major sale I didn’t have a great grouping first rounds threw but I’m also a very new shooter with it being only within 2 years that I really got into hand guns. My choice of gun before this gift was the mossberg mc2c which I still love. That being said this sig shoots like butter and would love to make it a carry in the summer when my layers of clothing is significantly diminished. Guess I gotta keep practicing because I don’t want to be any danger to the people around me.

The dependability of the Glock pistols are outstanding and the majority of shooters love them. But I personally think they feel like a 2x4 in the hand. My main carry is a P 365 xl. I shoot it fast and accurately. As far as printing, I don’t care as long as it’s concealed.
But if and when SHTF, I’m a fan of the closet one to me.

Glocks are literally anti-anatomical😂. I do like my 17 thou, but the 226 sig feels like it was design to hold. P365 for days over a 26 brick lol.

My larger hands need the wider grip. A narrow grip causes me to have too much finger on the trigger, so I pull low and right.
As for your experiment, James, the 365 trigger is so much better it probably accounts for the difference.

I have a g26 that I’ve had for years. I shoot it very well, and it always works. No problem concealing it whatsoever in a comfort tac waistband holster. When it stops doing what I need it to do, I’ll consider what’s out there. Don’t expect that to happen though. Just my favorite edc.

Another great video as always. I like and own many different firearms but when it comes down to it I have a thing for Glocks and have always thought the 26 was one of the best all around carry guns and still do... Also the Glock is the only one that gives me the option of carrying it with a 10 round magazine either flat or with a +2 base plate or also a 15, 17, or 33 round back up. 👍👍

James, I gotta admit. It was weird watching a video without you wearing your short-shorts. It was also weird hearing you say that you shot a SIG better than a Glock. But the other 2 shooters were able to dis-prove your findings by shooting the Glock 26 better. Thank God. Snap out of it Jim!

The larger magazine options is the main reason the G26 is what I carry. Plus the SHTF scenario of having to use someone elses mag, living or otherwise,, the likelihood of coming across someone with a larger Glock is fairly likely. 👍

3:14 Tyrant CNC makes high quality mag extensions for a range of handguns including Glock. I have both five and two round extensions on a Glock 26. Both provide a comfortable full grip and have worked flawlessly. Been carrying the 26 for 12 years and see no reason to change. And no, I don't work for Tyrant.😊

My 1st Glock was a G26 Gen 5 with Ameriglo sights. Only mod has been an SCD since this was my first striker fired pistol and I wanted that extra layer of safety. It's been my primary carry for the last 5 years with a +2 mag and a spare G17 mag. For reference, I'm 6' 3" @ 270lbs, so concealment has never been an issue. For good or ill, a Sig 365 isn't even on my radar.
