Glock 26 vs. SIG P365: Which is Better?

  • I've been carrying a Glock 26 a LOT lately because it seems to just vanish in clothes, not to mention that it's been a proven subcompact handgun for almost 3 decades. Yeah, sure, I own a P365 and P365XL, but the Glock 26 has been around longer and it's slightly thicker, slightly heavier, and thus faster and more accurate. Right? Let's find out.

@@oblivionpro69but the cool thing about the 26 is you can always slap a 33 rounder in there, the big sticks aren’t too hard to conceal if you carry it as a backup mag and not in the gun. Sight radius is pretty much irrelevant in the age of slide mounted red dots. I don’t like short barrels for 9mm, but you could always throw a g19 barrel in it, or even a Gen 5 17 or 34 barrel.

For years, I felt like the Glock 26 was obsolete. I’ve carried a Glock 43X for several years now and love it. However, I shot a Glock 26 for the first time today. I couldn’t believe it, but the perceived recoil was about HALF that of my 43X. I then got to thinking, “I can feed this thing with my G19 and G17 magazines!” I got home from the range and bought my own G26 online today. This gun is nothing to sleep on.

I got into the Glock 26 because of law enforcement. When my department switched from the Glock 21 to the Glock 17 I picked up a Glock 26 to replace my Glock 30 as my backup gun. The 26 may be an "aged" design but it shoots incredibly well and I like that I can feed it with larger magazines off my belt if I need to.
My favorite of the Micro Compacts is the Shield Plus though, I had a Gen 1 Shield since they got released in 2012, never upgraded it to the M2.0, but when I saw the Plus came out fits in all the same holsters and holds significantly more ammo with the M2.0 grip I picked one up and I have been very happy with it.

This couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve been carrying the 26 with extended mag for over a decade. I’ve never felt the need for a change until recently. The difference between the other 10-12 rounders is almost negligible. So, because capacity counts, I’m currently deciding between the Sig Xl, X - Macro, or the Springfield Hellcat. I am sentimental and emotionally attached to say the least, but after 2k rounds of shooting I was never able to group it well. I'm a big fan of my P365X. It has replaced my P30SK and Glock 42 for summer carry. In fact, it's all I carry all year around. It's so hard to beat such a compact size holding 13 rounds of 9mm. The only modifications I've made is throwing on a Holosun EPS Carry optic, a Wilson Combat grip and a a True Precision threaded barrel -- so I can throw on my Dead Air Odessa and LARP as either James Reeves or James Reece.

  • @PPISAFETY
    @PPISAFETY 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

I guess this just shows that different guns work best for different people. If you are some guy working mostly in an office, it probably doesn't matter a lot what you pick to carry as long as it is reliable. But if you factor in use by armed professionals, the Glock 26 has some advantages. For example, when I was a police officer, I carried a full-sized Glock in my holster and a G26 strapped to my boot as a backup. I could feed the smaller gun off the same magazines. Try that with a SIG P365. I've flown into places for work as a protection agent where I've needed to quicly replace something like lost magazines or a holster, and I can get such things just about anywhere for a Glock, including in Third World countries. When I get off the plane in one of those places and am handed a gun to use because I can't bring my own, it will more likely than not be a Glock 9mm so I have no need to do anything different than I do at home. And in the unlikely event that one of my Glocks breaks, thanks to Glock having provided me with a no-cost Armorer's school, I can repair my gun from a baggie of small parts I carry with me on the road. Try that with a SIG P365.
The video mentioned that the P365 is probably cheaper when its sights are considered. This may be true, but ignores Glock's Blue Label pricing for qualified professionals. I can buy a brand new Glock 26 for $399. I spend 15 minutes installing my preferred sights, Trijicon HD's, check zero and I'm good to go for just over $500, so pricing is a wash for me. I also only need to stock one type of relatively inexpensive factory spare magazine for all of my Glock 9mm pistols. When you own enough magazines to matter, that is a big deal. I typically carry my G26 with a factory +2 floorplate in-gun and a G17 spare magazine, giving me a load-out of 30 rounds. I live in hot and humid South Florida and have zero issues in carrying this setup.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a SIG P365 as a citizen's carry gun, but the Glock 26 has some real advantages for those who make their living with a gun. I also shoot my G26 well out to 50 yards, just like a larger gun, and I cannot reallly do that with the P365 although others may be able to or don't care if they can. Running a test on an indoor range at 25 feet hardly evaluates the uses I might have to put my carry gun to. The Glock 26 has been meeting my needs since the late 90's and I see no reason to change now just to get a gun that is a bit thinner or lighter. When I go out armed with the G26, I am carrying a "no compromise" sidearm. Others may feel differently, and that is okay.

I also just moved from the 43x to the 26.4 this summer for my daytime carry using a 19 holster. Definitely prints less, and I can use backstraps to make the length of pull longer to fill out my hand more without grossly affecting the printing, which can't be done with the 43x or 365.

The G26 kind of got pushed aside with the g43x and 48 along with the sig 365 lineup. But it seems like some are gravitating back to the g26. SLR makes a plus 4 extension for the g26 and the grip length is still shorter than a g43x, 48 and 19. At the end of the day any of these options are great choices.

Because I was accurate enough with it, I figured that I could make the compromise and switch to the P365 platform. The same pattern repeated for the next range trip or two and then something clicked. I can now shoot my sig better than some much larger guns, I feel like it is one of those guns you develop muscle memory for, on mine my finger slides further over the trigger than my other guns. I’m 6’2” so that might play a part in the fact my hands just can’t properly grip it, but I feel like it’s valid as long as I shoot well.

Really good video. I've been shooting Glocks since 1997 and to me, they seem just like an appliance gun. I did consider the G26, G43 and Hellcat when I was shopping for my CCW, but the Sig felt better, with its more ergonomic grip and smooth trigger face. I knew they would all be reliable enough. Glock has been around longer, but they refused to take them to that next level, ergonomically.
I don't know about printing, I'll take your word for it, but the P365 is more comfortable to CARRY, being thinner. It shoots more accurately than I ever expected it to and better than I ever shot a Glock of that size. I don't know how they did it. I do like the included tritium sights. I have a couple holsters for it: a kydex one that prints less because it has that lever that pushes the butt in more, but it's less comfortable and needs a belt. I also have one of the DeSantis grippy holsters that doesn't need a belt, but is more comfortable and prints more, and can be carried in a pocket as well. The handle of the gun keeps it from going down too deeply.
Before you think I value comfort TOO much, I will say that I PREFER to carry and shoot my Ruger LCR in 38 +P, but have to admit that I don't even carry a reload to have double the firepower of an LCR, which is thicker. The LCR can pack some pretty stout and specialized ammo that the P365 can't, but I'm faster and more accurate with the P365, so I'll assume that good hollow point ammo is going to get the job done.

I have a g26 that I’ve had for years. I shoot it very well, and it always works. No problem concealing it whatsoever in a comfort tac waistband holster. When it stops doing what I need it to do, I’ll consider what’s out there. Don’t expect that to happen though. Just my favorite edc.

Typical block fan boy answer. "I like my block cuz it just works." Hate to burst your bubble but every gun works. It's not exclusive to glocks.

I have a 365X. Its been a awesome gun and quite accurate at a longer range for its sized. I also have a G26 gen 5 and let me say this...its awesome. Ive carried many glock subs like the 30s and the 43. So far the g26 had the best trigger of every glock ive shot besides my G34. So far I really can't decide which is better both are super good. But my familiarity with the glock platform makes the 26 feel more comfortable for me.

The dependability of the Glock pistols are outstanding and the majority of shooters love them. But I personally think they feel like a 2x4 in the hand. My main carry is a P 365 xl. I shoot it fast and accurately. As far as printing, I don’t care as long as it’s concealed.
But if and when SHTF, I’m a fan of the closet one to me.

Glocks are literally anti-anatomical😂. I do like my 17 thou, but the 226 sig feels like it was design to hold. P365 for days over a 26 brick lol.

    Thanks much.
I didn't expect the test results you got..
Not saying the 9mm has monstrous recoil, but anytime you have two guns and one has a thinner grip, the one with a thinner grip will have more felt recoil.
When the 26 came out back in the day, it was labeled as a back up gun to the 19 and 17 because it took the same magazines.
