Have you shoot the echelon at any sort of distance, something further than 13 yards? Just purchased one and have about 350 rounds on it this week and it's printing considerable high at 15 & 20 yards. Fired it back to back with some of my glocks and it's hitting about 6-7" high consistently. Glocks are bullseyes...I think it's going back to SA this week.
Had them both. Echelon hands down. Walther is wayÿy to fat. Echelon has better sights and is way slimmer. Plus the echelon feels like it is better quality
They’re both fine weapons. However, in your demo, that PDP excelled in a nicely tight grouping. I’m going to reserve a choice until I’ve had more time to shoot both and let them break in a bit. My old PPQ has the most sublime trigger. Neither of these compare to the PPQ, yet. Very nice video, even a year later. Still relevant. Thanks for sharing.
The PDP appears to have a higher bore axis. Assuming thats the case, do you find it "snappier" than the Springfield? The other thing with the Springfield, do you have any issues with the ambi mag release hitting your hand when engaging it with the thumb causing you to break your grip to use it or even stopping the mag release from engaging fully because its hitting the hand on the opposite side? This is why a lot of folks dont like ambi mag releases. Great comparison.
Both appear to have significant muzzle flip. The Walther especially looks pretty snappy to me. I wonder how the PDP Pro Compact would compare? Anyones input is appreciated.
I have the compact. It is noticeable. I put I lighter recoil spring in the gun as others suggested. It made a noticeable difference. Now I love the gun. No reliability issues.
Added a DPM spring to my 5 inch and it's night and day difference shooting. Walther did a horrible job tuning the gun with it's stock spring. The replacement made it shoot so much flatter.
The Walter PDP has a step chambered barrel. I am not sure if the Springfield has the same design with their barrel. the PDP has a slight advantage because the chamber wraps around the cartridge, more snug and you get more feet per second. Approximately 50 to 80 feet more
PDP fan boy here. One other difference: the Echelon has a Glock-style grip angle. The PDP doesn’t which lends itself to more easily to point-and-shoot. With the Echelon, for better accuracy, you have to rotate your support hand’s wrist more forward into the traditional “Glock-grip”, which can put a strain on that wrist.
I have both and you are absolutely right. The PDP's grip angle is similar to my M&P. The less aggressive grip angle points more naturally and is more comfortable in my opinion.

This comparison makes 100% sense and I think it comes down to personal preference as the deciding factor. PDP has a better trigger but it's one of the world's best non-1911 triggers. Echelon feels like my Hellcat's trigger and it's above average to be sure. Like the Echelon's optic mounting concept. End of day it's a 6 of one half dozen of the other situation.
For me, the PDP feels better in hand, but I like the makeshift go fast pedal on the Echelon, so I'll call that even. But the trigger for me still goes to the PDP. The PDP hits the wall, and it breaks. The Echelon hits a wall, then has a little mush before breaking. It isn't bad, but I shoot it slower, and it reminds me too much of a Glock trigger.

Love them both and own a couple PPQs but only in steel as I sold my polymer versions as I was not impressed with them. The echelon on the other hand is great to shoot as a polymer framed gun and while there is a metal framed upgrade available I’m thinking I’ll stay polymer
Since I tricked out my P10C with an HBI trigger, Lake L8ne mini comp, Dawson Precision fiber optic sights, & Talon grips I see no reason to buy another pistol which accomplishes the same thing. If you have any of these pistols, you have made the right choice!
I bought one locally. It’s a kydex holster and he heated it to accept the nightstick light I put on. It’s a pro carry. I don’t know where he bought those and I couldn’t find the same ones online
There is no way that any human can accurately and visually determine more snap in a pistol than another with the human eye. Your statement is pure hyperbole and a lie.
@judahlion5826 I have the PDP pro SD 5.1 and it was snappier than any other handgun I own until I added a HA comp and zr guide rod and 15lb spring. If you have working eyeballs you can see that the pdp is jumping more than the echelon.
I think it would have been a better comparison had they both been full size or compact and not one of each. I also think the PDP F version has a grip thickness more in line with the Springfield. Great video though and a great pair of guns to compare.
I have two of both of these getting a third Echelon with the Gear uo package three free Magazines and a Range Bag like I got on my 2nd Echelon for12 Magazines between them. And wanting a Comped Echelon after that. For another two Mags totaling 14 Magazines Magazines. My Springfield Armory Home Defense Security System
THANK YOU for a very nice and informative video on these 2 fine pistols. Its really a shame that none of them ever offer these pistols with a "Crowned Match Grade Barrel". Everybody and their brother and their brothers 2nd & 3rd cousin always offer the same Ole Shit with a 1:10 Right Hand Twist.
Yes, it’s true that a good quality modern pistol will be made to be more accurate than the shooter. But the two guns I’m personally more accurate with, especially with a string of fire like a Bill Drill, are my Walther PDP Full Size 5 inch and my Canik TP9 Elite Combat. I’m more accurate with those two than any of my others including my Glock 19 gen 3, my M&P 2.0 and my P320. I haven’t tried the Echelon though. I’d love to give it a shot
They have plastic rings on their chests, attached to strings. They pull on it and then they repeat what they heard someone else say. They don't know why either, but they think it makes them sound cool.
I’m a Walther fan, loved the PPQ. But there’s a couple of things to note. First the PDP is NOT compatible with PPQ M1 mags. The PDP is only compatible with PPQ M2 mags. I’m going to assume that the reviewer forgot about the two versions of the PPQ. The reviewer also didn’t note the time it took him to fire those 10 shots on to the paper targets, that was an oversight on his part that left out valuable information. The PDP is not really conceal carry friendly compared to the Springfield. All that said, I’m not a fan of either handgun. The slide is too blocky on the PDP and the beaver tail on the Springfield is too small. For those reasons I wouldn’t recommend either one.
No comments on recoil difference? Which Walther? Compact? Full size? What? Which backstrap was on the Walther? Springfield? Nobody but nobody thinks the Springfield has a better trigger than the PDP. Maybe close, but definitely not better.
I love my Echelon, but God I hate that trigger! I'll never understand how people can say it's good! And there's not a good aftermarket out there. There's PRP, but it just makes it less bad. It'll need replacement sears to fix it...Hint-Apex... Wink wink.
PDP is for unbiased people who want a modernized Glock, it's the ultimate duty pistol. CZ Shadow is for everyone else. All other pistols don not mattter. Even Staccatos are useless unless you want to flex with it. It's much less reliable over a CZ at a high cost of reliability. For rifles, you only need an AR. The gun world is simpler than most people think.
Dumb comment from the peanut gallery below but I like talking about pistols so I use youtube to write down my thoughts. I have a really dumb technique to test how naturally I can hold a pistol but the better I can execute the technique tends to show itself by how accurately I can shoot a pistol at 10-20 yards. I put the web of my thumb on the back of the pistol, release it by not touching any finger or thumb on the pistol and I extend my hand above my head to see if I can balance it just on the web of my thumb. Out of all of my pistols, and I have ... several plus because I love pistols go in this order, some I have more than one barrel length but that doesn't seem to affect how much time it takes me to accomplish full arm extension: 1. Walther PDP; 2. Canik Mete; 3. HK VP9; and 4. Glock 17. Those are all really close and each of them my best time is about 3 seconds. Hardest ones are my CZ 75 SP01 with no magazine but when I have a magazine in it balances well and shoots extremely well. Same goes for the Canik TP9 SFX. Strangely those are both competition pistols while the others are not. I guess my H&K VP9 Match is sort of a competition pistol which I love but it's not my personal fastest pistol.
I am a PDP fan. However the real winner is the consumer with all the great choices.
Well said! Hear, hear!

I bought one locally. It’s a kydex holster and he heated it to accept the nightstick light I put on. It’s a pro carry. I don’t know where he bought those and I couldn’t find the same ones online
We all visually see more snap with the PDP.
You had 1 flyer down in each group and if you eliminate that from both, their is no contest between which pistol you shot better.
Good one - best look at the Eschelon trigger reset that I’ve seen
Thanks 🙏🏼
Entertaining and useful.
Glad you think so!
The slide on the Walther looks big and blocky to me. Thanks for the video.
People always say you can’t trust Springfield, but they never say why. Don’t know what they are talking about. By the way, good comparison 😎👍
They have plastic rings on their chests, attached to strings. They pull on it and then they repeat what they heard someone else say. They don't know why either, but they think it makes them sound cool.
@@JustinOpinionChannelYou are correct 👍
👍. Nice review.
Nice video sir keep pushing videos out yes sir
Canik mags will work in the PDP
I love that
No comments on recoil difference?
Which Walther? Compact? Full size? What?
Which backstrap was on the Walther? Springfield?
Nobody but nobody thinks the Springfield has a better trigger than the PDP. Maybe close, but definitely not better.
Walther looks cooler, Echelon shoots smoother.
The Eschelon brakes further back than the PDP, big hands would probably like PDP
I love my Echelon, but God I hate that trigger! I'll never understand how people can say it's good! And there's not a good aftermarket out there. There's PRP, but it just makes it less bad. It'll need replacement sears to fix it...Hint-Apex... Wink wink.
Walther PDP Pro vs Springfield Echelon?
Someone just did that.
@@BurntOrangeHorn78 I want Justin's Opinion.
Would have been better to compare the PDP FS to the full sized echelon. This is not a fair apples to apples comparison.
Super helpful video … thanks again.. Happy Holidays
Out of all of my pistols, and I have ... several plus because I love pistols go in this order, some I have more than one barrel length but that doesn't seem to affect how much time it takes me to accomplish full arm extension:
1. Walther PDP;
2. Canik Mete;
3. HK VP9; and
