I'm not Sadie but, it might help to sit with your feet farther apart (like criss cross apple sauce). The awesome thing about yoga is that it is a practice and it takes time (and practice!) to achieve the poses. No one expects you to be able to do everything! Just work on it and you'll get it eventually!
its because she has greater flexibility in her hip flexors. try to work on stretching that area slowly by having one leg in that same sitting position and holding it for several seconds. then do the other. the ability to sit in that position. the pose will come to you over time. :)
