  • Struggling with stalling out and not rotating through impact. Chances are there is a root cause reason as to why you can't do this. If that is the case then you MUST fix that first before you can learn to rotate correctly. In this video I run through the 3 most common root causes I see and how to fix them.

    Found your channel occasionally by browsing those random shorts. Id love to let you know that i feel ur videos are most useful among these youtubers I've been followed and watching for years. Not just telling where the positions should be, but pointing out the mistakes that we might have. Well done and please keep posting

    Another great video. I love how you highlight the root cause and explain how to fix them. I find so many coaches don’t do this and its probably why players don’t get better. Thanks for finally shining the light on these issues and how to truly fix them!!

    So nice to see someone who’s giving information out when their mouth is moving rather than blathering on to just be saying something all the time. Also, explaining the root cause so as to stop you from trying to fix the symptom and not the cause is incredibly helpful. Concise, clear and well done - I watch a pretty fair amount of these and these are some of the best I’ve seen. Thanks a lot. Subscribed 👍

    I have been playing golf a long time, almost 40yrs, and have been watching golf advice on TH-cam since it started. I repeatedly hear explanations about the golf swing from Giles that I have never heard before anywhere else. I never heard how a lack of rotation on the backswing is killing my rotation through the ball. If someone told me that the reason my poor rotation through the impact zone was because of a lack of rotation on the backswing I would have told them that doesn't make any sense. That I should be able to rotate going through no matter how much I rotate going back. Everything he just explained makes perfect sense. I have video of my swing and I've have very poor hip rotation in the back swing but never put it together that it was causing my early extension and inability to get open during impact. Giles offers brilliant instruction you don't hear anywhere else.

    Watched your video then went out to my range. I have been missing greens, particularly from 160 yds in ( I track them- only 31% GIR and that is hitting a good drive) I lose a lot of shots to the right and lose distance as well. I kept telling myself it is an open club face , which it is, and worked on trying to square the club by making sure I pointed my lead hand so the logo on my glove pointed towards the ground- some success but not consistent. After watching your video a light went on- "Check my grip"! I looked at a fairly new golf glove and noticed the dirt/wear was more in the palm of the glove- I was gripping the club in my left hand more in the palm. At the range I adjusted my left hand to grip at the base of my fingers and presto- ball flight did not fall off to the right- gained 10 yds using my 9 iron ( 135yds vs now 145). What a small change and yet significant pay back- thank you thank you for bringing grip to my attention, which I always thought was OK.Cant wait to play tomorrow- my rounds of 80-82 will become 77-79 I am sure.

    All good Giles! I am one in need of thinking "ROTATION!" For some reason, my lower body gets lazy at times and doesn't do its part! I like the idea of thinking "hands over heels" in the backswing in order to get more depth. I am also working on freeing up the hips as an added benefit! I have no problem with hand and wrist position in the downswing and getting the necessary shaft lean to produce a solid hit. It's the calibration that I need to work on.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Remember rotation isn’t just turning your hips. Rotation happens as a byproduct of pushing in and out of the ground

    Sounds like you want depth at the top, either through big turn in backswing (1) or steep to shallow in rerouting (2) in order to come down shallow that would facilitate turn.

    Giles, glad I just found your channel. I am a 4 handicap and struggle with this concept. I tend to lean forward with my upper body on the downswing, and this causes blocks and pushes, cant figure out what is causing my upper body to do this instead of just rotating my body thru .

    I’ve been struggling with the down swing. One told me to pull down and the right hand come down to the right pocket and you are telling me shallow to pull out .. this is the reason that I’ve been struggling and confused as I am getting older and my swing get shorter and weaker. The more I need help by watching golf videos, the more conflicted messages I got.

    What do you feel causes snap hooks with driver. I never do it with irons or my hybrid, just my driver? I feel I'm over active with my upper body and under active with lowered body with rotation? Is that right? Any idea how I can fix this?

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      A snap hook with driver is either caused by a toe strike of the face getting excessively closed to the path. It’s hard to say without seeing your swing but you could be smothering it or potentially stuck under the plane too much as driver naturally is swung on a flatter plane do to its shaft length

  • @Eqnotalent
    @Eqnotalent ปีที่แล้ว

    On #2, steep back and shallow down. Does every good golf swing has to be a loop? Can u go back shallow and down back shallow? If u have a slow smooth tempo

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      If can do but you’ll always be fighting the moment of the club and therefore your consistency and distance will be down. You will also have to hit a lot of balls regular to ingrain and maintain that movement pattern

  • @kj475
    @kj475 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wish it worked as simple as every action has an opposite reaction. I agree that a flat backswing promotes a steep downswing, but a steep backswing does not necessarily promote a shallow downswing. I see people, myself included that have both a steep backswing and a steep downswing. Getting that shallow downswing from a steep backswing doesn't seem to be automatic at all for most people.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The steep backswing promotes a shallower downswing but their are correct ways to get the club steep and incorrect way to get the club steep. If you set the backswing up well and then you’ll have a higher chance of having a successful downswing. If you’re struggling with shallowing I’d recommend checking out your top of the backswing structure, your downswing sequencing and the width you create or lose in transition 👍🏻

    Dude, Inbee Park wet up straight but she turns her hip before the club catches up!! Nothing like your demonstration on how the hip pushed out!! You are showing what you think is to your thought!! Not all people push their hips out the way you demonstrated. Stay away from these TH-cam instructors!!

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Firstly I never said everyone does this. She is an example that sequences her down correctly which shallows the club out. Secondly you should listen to what I say. It’ll help your gamr
