My dog had a short groom in February, but had his heavy coat for most of the winter. I didn't put a coat on him and he now has a chest sound like congestion. I've found a solution with your videos. Thank you!

It's a month later from the post below. I began using NAC at a very low dose for several days. I actually did see a decrease in her coughing gagging issues. So I decided to up the dose with even more success. A few weeks later I was telling a doggie lover friend about the NAC Yes! he said just keep increasing the dose until the problem stops but he also suggested adding Slippery Elm to relieve the irritation in the airways. It's over a month now and I have to tell you , this was a complete success. We went from a doggie who was constantly coughing/gagging to a peaceful life without the problem. Now I take one NAC capsule and add one Slippery Elm capsule in a small container and mix them together. That is her daily dose broken into 2 times a day. She gets a 1/2 in the early am with her soft boiled egg and the rest later in the day with her dinner. If I hear any excessive choking coughing I just give her a small portion more of an open NAC capsule. And in a few minutes it stops.
SUCCESS...... TY Dr. Jones for giving us options, this one is a winner for us.

I am so appreciative of the advice you give in your videos. My sweet basset hound Frank has bronchitis and the vet was very thorough and prescribe him with an antibiotic, but I wanted to do more to help him feel more comfortable and help him get through this better. I've been in his boat a time or two so I know how Frank feels. I'm glad your here to help with a more holistic route, since my vet really doesn't or can't inform me of things to do to help my pet holistically. Again thank you.

Dr.Jones,my senior westie has been wheezing and I wonder if he has bronchitis or lung disease. The vet gave clavamox ,it helping slightly wheezing but when finished clavamox start wheezing on and off . They did x ray and his heart little bit expand . Westie common with Westie lung disease. He has no heart murmur but when he lie down he is breathing with his chest on the muscle. Maybe make his heart expand because his lungs don’t enough oxygen. What of your thought? He doesn’t cough but wheezing a lot.

Stumbled upon you after my 11 year old GS/lab mix was diagnosed with bronchitis/possible early stage pneumonia. She has been eating, drinking, bathroom normally, acting normally. But a couple months ago she out of the blue started snoring, at night and eventually even when she was just kinda laying there 😴 I just figured it was normal at first, she’s aging, 3-5 lbs overweight (the vet said). She also seemed to get very easily winded when exercising but it’s been a long winter of lounging around! 🤪 I thought she was out of shape a little. But a couple weeks ago I noticed she sounded congested (like we would with an infection). She’s had a couple reverse sneezing fits and very mild coughing. So I got her into the vet as fast as I could with all this vivid stuff going on. My first question that the vet didn’t answer is if it’s bronchitis/pneumonia, I thought that was something that came on kinda suddenly and worsened quickly. At least in us we don’t just snore for months (no coughing etc) Did she have it the whole time she was snoring? Months? I feel awful for letting it go that long 💔 I just didn’t put it all together bc she was acting so normally! At first the vet told me it was bad and she thought she had histoplasmosis/blastomycosis but after blood work came back perfect she (and I) were extremely relieved it wasn’t that (she’s 95 % sure). Second question, since I started the meds 2 days ago she seems a tiny bit worse (winded just walking, just sounding worse) are the meds breaking that up like their supposed to and it’s kind of a “it might sound worse bf it clears up” kinda thing? (Doxycycline, Treophylline and prednisone, sound right/efficient in your opinion?) And would oxygen help or is it not necessary? Is that something I can do on my own? Anyway, thank you for the tips I’m looking for ways to supplement regular veterinary care. I want my baby to feel better fast. I’m so worried. I’m going to def do as many of the ideas you have here as I can find. Any advice/knowledge/feedback u could give on my post would be so greatly appreciated 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 You guys are so amazing! (Vets) and your so kind to offer us expertise freely like you do 🥰 oh, I have bonfires frequently now that the weather is good is the smoke a bad idea for her right now? She seems to always lay away from where it’s blowing, around the perimeter (not close by) but if I shouldn’t have her near it I will keep her in. Just wondering bc I read about irritants causing all this in the first place. 😢

Thank you so much for helping other's and their pet's. I'm a pet lover and have bred a few different kinds of dog's throughout my life. I raised police sheppard's, and they were trained for police officer's basically, they were such a beautiful breed. Now I breed peekapoo's and they are absolutely awesome, my puppies will be here the 2nd week of May,2023, and I can't wait to see them. Of course I will have to help in the delivery of all the puppies, due to their underbite. I love these beautiful puppies, they are one of the best pest to have if their owners have allergies, cuz these pets are considered hypoallergenic dog's, and poodle's are good as well with someone with allergies to.
But one of my peekapoo has developed Bronchitis, and she has developed this in her older age, and I have used your techniques that you have posted, and I want to thank you so very ,very much for all your post, you saved me so much money and possibly a wrong diagnosis, in which I have gotten by a veteran before, not to say all veterans would do this. I was raised around all different kinds of animals and I alway's watched my dad operate on horse's and care for other animal's that were sick. So I am the veteran in my household, but if it's something I don't know I definitely take them to see the veteran. So I don't suggest everyone should try to help their animal's especially if they don't have the knowledge of how to care for them in the proper way. I learned from my dad and a veteran that was my dad's friend. I was raised on a farm as well, so that played a huge part in learning how to care for animal's as well, plus I was a very curious child as well!! Anyways I think you are absolutely awesome for trying to teach people on how to cure animal's without having to pay a high price for a veteran to do something pet owners can do from home. And your remedy for that Bronchitis was wonderful, and I'm so happy I stumbled upon your post, she still has Bronchitis at different times but other than that she is just fine, and of course I use your remedy for it as well!! So I thank you so very, very much!! God Bless you and your family, and may he keep all of you safe and healthy, in Jesus name I pray Amen, 🙏❤PJ

But the meds aren't expensive and it helps. Goodluck to you! Btw try getting insurance , it might be a big help if you expect shes gonna need some expensive tests run.

Is it safe to nebulize dog wirh normal saline? My 4 year old pomeranian has fast respiration rate even though the weather is not hot and she's not tired. Her vet did a chest xray and said she something in her lung, fluid or mucus and gave her ambroxol, and cephalexin for 7 days. But until now she's still breathing fast even when rested. Her nostrils are moving everytime she breathing hard and then goes away after an hour or so,. Then starts again on and off. But her appetite is okay. Please tell me what to do. Thanks.

Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information. Some vets DO care for the well being of animals while others just care for their well being of their own pockets. Hard to find vets like you. I will try the couping and steam right away. Thank you! .I have been giving her honey mixed with a little bit of turmeric and also some CBD oil. Not sure if it is helping. She has coughing fits about 4 times a day (for the past two days). She is napping now. I am also giving her Clavamox twice a day just in case. Today is day #2 of treatment. I believe hers is kennel cough. Started about two weeks ago with just mild coughing every now and then. Yesterday she was even having the honking at the end of the coughing which worried me. I haven't heard honking today thank God.

Thanks Dr Jones.. that's the same thing my vet here in Italy said.. and obviously he got it from his mother, but she doesn't seem to have cold symptoms. It's difficult for me to watch an innocent newborn and not try to help other than keeping nose free so he can suck his momma every 2hrs and pray for the best.
I try to make him sleep with head up higher so nose doesn't block up too much. I monitor constantly basket temperature trying to keep 20°C. I wake every 2hrs with the momma to see if he's sucking properly. I just wish there was other comfort I could offer, but I have no experience on colds in a newborn puppy.
His name is Kio, 18days old, weighed 177grms at birth, now 762. Do you think he'll make it?

My friend's dog is struggling to breath, intermittently. ( miniture pincher or manchester terrier mixed, around 10-13 years ) He gasps for air, straining his rib cage, won't breath through his mouth, sensitive nose, and falling asleep standing up because laying makes breathing harder. Walking actually helps. Last 2 X-rays show nothing significant. Trachea looks straight enough, not collapsed. Heart might be slightly enlarged. Lots of air or gas pockets in his bowels. His vets are stumped and recommend a cardiologist. Maybe Pulmonary Hypertension ? All the local Internists and Cardiologists are booked up for weeks. We are so worried he won't make it.

@@mimicry100 Sorry for the delay. He ended up being diagnosed with Laryngeal Paralysis. The original vet should have suspected this, but it is not common in small dogs. My friend paid over $12K USD for a Laryngeal tie back procedure, which basically sews half of it open. He was like a new dog after that, just couldn't bark. Sadly he died a couple months later. Probably kidney failure, old age issues. I suspect it could have been food poisoning. Surgeon didn't mention his kidney numbers were too bad until after the surgery of course. I think your doggy MIGHT need to be put under anesthesia and a scope put down their throat to see what they can see. It's pricey. Get a 2nd opinion. My friend wasted a lot of money with many vet visits that got her no where, before going to a better dog surgical center, who diagnosed it faster with the scope.

Ive recently adopted a rescued pug. She has cysts between her toes which I believe to be interdigital cysts. They occasionaly appear as small lumps between the toes, they sometimes burst and have clear discharge and then once healed can disappear for long periods of time. I think they are allergy related because antihistamine seems to help with the swelling. My vet checked the first cyst to check it wasn't a foreign object which revealed nothing, so he said that are likely cysts and reccomended daily Epsom salt foot soaks and has given some antibiotic, anti inflammatory, anesthetic cream to apply to prevent infection. These little sores don't seem to cause her much discomfort, there's no limping and she let's me check the feet. I'm just wondering if there are any ways to manage these/faster healing or prevent them from occurring?

Veterinary Secrets Thanks so much. We're working to determine the allergy. We think it may be grass so we have bought her some little shoes for her walks to see if that helps. If not we will just have to keep eliminating things one by one. I will definitely try the honey along with the foot soaks. Will this work on the cysts that have not burst also?
