Cassey, my 14 year old JR was diagnosed by a specialist vet as having chronic bronchitis. We gave her bronchodilators, steroids, nebulizer her diuretics - but for a year she coughed and we were all sleep deprived. In desperation I decided to clean her teeth twice daily with coconut oil and gave her a dental chew every day. Immediately she started sleeping better. After 3 weeks she slept through 2 nights so we realized the problem was the BAD BACTERIA in her mouth. We took her for a scale & polish under anaesthetic and she is back to normal - NO COUGHING and NO NEED FOR MEDICATION. PLEASE BRUSH YOUR PETS TEETH!!!

Wow, that’s amazing! My dogs is 11 years old chihuahua terrier and has chronic bronchitis for over 3 years. She’s on steroid (Flovent), bronchodilator (theophylline), mullein leaf, ginseng, curcumin, and dandelion root. One thing that helped was cefpodoxime antibiotic, but that quickly stopped working after one year. Cefpodoxime is for bacterial infection, so I’m going to try the dental cleaning to reduce the bad bacteria. I really appreciate your comment.

Guys PLEASE have your dogs heart checked if they’re coughing all the time. It was the sign of my dog’s except she was misdiagnosed with collapsed trachea and when the heart disease was finally found it was late stage and she was having breathing issues near the end. It was horrific and financially ruining trying to save her and I miss her dearly. People think I am crazy for asking why they have human organ transplants but not for dogs? To me they’re just as important as humans, and in many cases more. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So I've had all kinds of tests done, X-rays, blood work, heart tests, everything comes back negative of anything serious. However, she's had this for almost a year now, essentially nothing seemingly that I can do. Her x-ray looked literally exactly like the one he shows in the video, none the less, it still worries me always.

There's not much you can do about the Heart Disease anws, it's much harder to treat than Bronchitis/infection. I'm not ruling out CHF for my dog, but I'm still giving him all the support (natural remedies) I can, whether it's Infection or HF or Larynx paralysis. Pills & Surgeries couldn't fix sh**!

I need some help. My older Yorkie has a heart problem. The vet put him on Pimobenden and Furosemide. Took him back in for a re-check and they told me he was in early kidney failure. He is now also on Enalipril. Except for a cough from fluid, he was acting better before the Enalipril. I know he doesn’t feel good and trying to get him to eat is a battle since the new med. I’m afraid my time with him is going to end soon if I don’t do something, but I don’t know what to do!

I have an Alaskan Malamute, 8 years old (9 on dob: January 6, 2015), 116 lbs. Can I give him all that stuff at the same time and what is the dosing amount for his body weight?
He has this cough for over 3 months. He has been through all traditional medications for kennel cough, steroids, broad spectrum meds. X-ray showed inflammation. Vet said this was normal in aging dogs?
I let pumpkins and corn grow in my yard this year as they came up wild. Allergy to the vines? I have since weeded all that stuff and mowed and raked leaves. I have multiple air purifiers (which help me too!) as of not so long ago. I swept and mopped floors? Still have issues cause he is part wooley (lots fur).
What do I do? He seems miserable. Weight loss? He is still eating and drinking okay. He tries to play but gives up easy. More walks? Thanks. I will take and consider any advice. Thank you.

    Hi! PLEASE help!
Can you use NAC & buttebur at the same time?
Our now 12-year-old lab had laryngeal paralysis surgery at MSU in December 2020. He's been treated twice for bronchitis. (I kept catching it in time and taking him in before it turned into pneumonia).
The last time the vet said "this is the strongest medicine we have and if this doesn't work we should have the talk" (steroids/prednisone & antibiotics).
We had a rescue we had to put down five days ago. I've had my lab, Tucker since he was a baby. Would you recommend this in this situation? He has been gagging and coughing constantly for about a month.
Yes… He coughs and gags a lot! Sometimes it's just from inhaling a little bit of water when he's drinking… But! He is so cognitively alert and happy… I don't know what to do!

Another very timely post. Thank you! My English Bulldog, almost 9 years old, has had extensive lab work and x-rays. All unremarkable, including the thyroid panel. While x-rays did not show bronchitis, he clearly has congestion and secondarily, regurgatation. It appears he might have had aspiration pneumonia that cleared on it's own, but again, the x-rays were non-conclusive. He was treated with 10 days of amoxicillin and responded well but the congestion with cough to clear that funky palate of his lingers. I'm thinking rhinitis or sinusitis so I've started him on licorice root, butterbur, and NAC. I was already giving him CBD. I've already seen some improvement with the amount of phlegm production. The vet has suggested a tracheal wash to rule out megaesophagus is the next step. You can imagine my concerns of sedating a 9 year old brachycephalic dog and forcing fluid into his lungs. So, I'm going to give this a try. It will be much safer and he is not critically ill. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thanks, I asked my local veterinarian what is making my pug cough to the point of gagging then it seems to ease off in a few minutes she would do it again, her episodes like this come and go , this would happen maybe three to four times a day then be fine after she gags like something is in her throat, during the visit of an appointment she had I asked him what was causing this,he thought it might be a collapsed trachea but did nothing else to find out other than suggesting an X-ray again done nothing, she is 13 years old and it started just last fall, I give her gold throat and it helps a lot and became less frequent, there’s days she doesn’t do it at all. I need your opinion please or I need to find another veterinarian.I would do anything and spend my last cent to help this girl. I know in vet bills in one year I spent $2,000 dollars that’s including apoquail for itching and dental work, cleaning and pulling some bad molars. I just need some advice. Thanks , your video popped up a few minutes ago so , help me to understand what it could it be doing this.

I have a dog with chronic bronchitis and collapse trachea and I used to spend a ton of money on vet visits. Medication. Antibiotics cough medication and at times it did nothing! I was so upset. We did a chest X-ray and thank god that’s all it is. I can give you a few tips that have WORKEd for me. I give him a 1/2 tablespoon of manuka honey mixed in water down his throat after he eats. I also make sure he is bathed once a week. Sounds weird but he coughs more when he needs a bath. I also have air purifiers next to his beds and through out the house. I feel that helps the most. I almost limits air sprays and smelly cleaners etc. hope this helps. This has helped my dog a ton! Also in cold months I never let him go out without a jacket and NEVER let the dogs head hang out the window and the air go into the lungs. Bug mistake I made in winter. Hope this is helpful. Rule out that your dogs lungs are clear and heart. Also I change his water through the day eso after eating. Always a fresh new stainless steel bowl every single day. Good luck ❤

Is this intermittent hacking something to worry about?

Roman Chamomile essential oil has been calming my chihuahua down and allowing him to rest. He goes into the infared sauna on his own as well as many other remedies you have mentioned. His legs are collapsing under him. I’m going to stop carprofen as I fear it is no longer beneficial

Hi doctor thanks a lot for all your videos!! Please would talk about Denamarin, I had to got 😫it for my beautiful princess German shepherd. It's really expensive. I decided just to make homemade food, and your supplements with cbd. I read that dogs with liver problems can not eat salmon. Iam going just to pray... and do remedies at home. Even I started with black te with her conjunctivitis, I don't know why the drops that the vet prescribed. It didn't work!! . Can you please tell if Denamarin is safe??

Yes it is safe, and generally effective. It has SAMe and Milk Thistle, both very helpful liver supplements.

    Hello Dr Jones
I have a puppy, three months old, had her for 14 days. Since getting her, she has been coughing consistently, as if she seems to want to cough something up. I’ve watched your 4 year old kennel cough video: and it seems similar. But at night when she lays it’s obvious she’s coughing from her abdomen over and over again. I had taken her to two different vets. They haven’t been much help. She’s happy, eats well, super active…but this cough plagues her at night.
I’m hoping you can give me some insight.

Did you ever figure out the cause? My puppy is in the same situation at the moment. Been coughing for about 16 days mainly at night and has an abdominal cough over and over when laying down.

    • @thisisnotlili
      @thisisnotlili ปีที่แล้ว

Hi @@zoeprachter655 , it subsided at the tail end of week 4. I suspect it was kennel cough. I sometimes gave her the smallest dose of Benadryl to help. I also made her warm water with small dose of honey and coconut oil, and kept her super duper hydrated. Also gave her some immunity gummies. “Nulo” is a good brand. Eventually it just stopped cold turkey.

Hey Doc. Always enjoy your videos and the time you take to keep us all on our toes.
REQUESTING VIDEO on how deal with a hemorrhoid in a female Yorkie who i adopted after the breeder was "finished" with her at age 8, after having 4 pregnancies and births. She was "fixed" before I adopted her and is now 12 yrs old. She was very uncomfortable one night so I checked her rear and she had poo as well as a hemorrhoid peaking through her anus and it was slightly bleeding. Whats a healthy way to take care her with hemorrhoids?

❓❓❓❓❓⁉️⁉️⁉️PLEASE PLEASE doctor is there anything you can recommend for Neurological issues/pain? My dog had to get surgery (On October 2020) on his neck because he is very small and apparently his skeleton or more like the discs on his spine were compressed. The neurologist removed some disc mass from his neck (C3) to help him walk better and reduce the stiffness in his front paws. However some discs are still compressed at other points but the surgery at the moment is too expensive and she said he might not need it asap. The vet said right now the discs that are a bit compressed are C4 and C5. The neurologist prescribed Gabapentin 25 mg Micro, 3 times a day every 8hrs, for life and Omeprazole 0.3cc only in the morning. My dog is a 4lb 12 year old Yorkie. However a side effect is kidney stones, which he has gotten several in his bladder and some in the spleen, prior to the medicine he never had this. Is there a natural noninvasive alternative for neurological pain/issues and also to dissolve stones? His front paws are a bit stiff and also I am scared the stones will require emergency surgery since his bladder is so small!
    PLEASE I BEG YOU! 💙💙💙💙

Hi, sorry to hear of all of this. Determine what stones are present- if Struvite then secondary to a bladder infection, I would treat with antibiotics, and one of the veterinary stone dissolving diets. As for the chronic pain, I would suggest a visit to an acupuncture practitioner. In practice I found many of the chiropractors helped in these complex situations

If you can find a reputable veterinary chiropractor and a reputable animal massage therapist I think you will see improvement with your dog's condition. Went through similar with my dog. Old (untreated) soft tissue injuries can contribute to muscle problems.
