  • In my first you tube video, I go over the removal of the intermediate gear. This is part 1 in a series on replacing the gear. The gear is plastic and I stripped the low gear portion. Fortunately, it was covered under warranty,

Thank you very much, for your time and patience to teach use, many people don't appreciate that effort, I really do, what I do not understand why Grizzly does not make those gears on metal, being so cumbersome to change them, one more thank you sir...gracias

the smaller cousin, G8688 has metal transmission gears, but plastic drive right at the motor. that's be the one to go if things get sketchy. cake to replace and cheap but also a metal gear for it is easy to find or just go with belt drive I almost got the 0704 but cheaped out and got the smaller one

I believe they make them plastic as they’re supposed to be sacrificial and won’t damage more valuable parts. Too bad they aren’t easier to get at. Thanks for the vid.

I bought the G0720 Heavy Bench mill when they moved out of PA. $3000.00+ mill, in 9/15, used maybe eight hours in that time frame, milled aluminum only. I now get a ERR message when I try to run the drill motor...they now want almost $400.00 for a new controlo board that must install. NO more Grizzly for me.

Im not sure why they use plastic gears in the VFD models. I get it with the old models that were not variable speed. The VFD will stop long before any damage occurs, so it must be cost. I have the same machine and am going to make metal gears for it. Ive pushed it several times and the machine always stops before breaking anything. Silly to have plastic gears for the main drive, imo.

carlyoung123 im unaware of a metal gear. I was going to make one, but I got a 3HP millrite mill. Now, I'm going to convert my G0704 into a CNCmill and will go with a belt drive

Hey, I have a G0759 mill... not looking forward to doing this! How did your gear strip out? Did you have any accidents, or did it just wear out in one year with normal use? I saw another video where a guy converted over to a belt system, and got twice the speed out of this mill. I do smaller stuff with mine, and 2000 RPM is half the speed I should be running anyway, but it is the top speed of this mill.

they are known to get hot inside, the whole line of Grizzly mini mills. wear is progressive until it slips and then couple more uses and it wont bite

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
