Thanks for sharing. I'm doing a CNC conversion on my G0704 now, and have a belt drive conversion in mind for the future.

Darryl, Anything you need feel free to message me. I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it was, but the kit made it worth while. If you are looking for a spindle pully kit, Shoot a email over to John at Automation technology, he was awesome to work with and was able to get me a exact date of my belt drive. I bought it right at the start of COVID and didn't get time to put it on till recently, but he was the best to deal with and got my order delivered relatively quickly (mine took 2 months to get)

Hi, very nice conversion. What engine did you use? Possibly some lines on the material used. Probably a lot of things are made to measure.

It's the same motor that came with the machine, it's actually a kit that's sold for this machine as well, so nothing was really fit besides the mounting bolts being tapped slightly longer. I will probably upgrade the spindle when it finally burns out and then I'll be looking for a new water cooled spindle... But that's gonna be a long time before I do that

I wish someone would come up with a lot cheaper version of a belt drive. China needs to make a good version.

Help !!! I don’t know what I am doing. I want to do a belt drive conversion but I can’t spend $400. I am retired and on a limited budget.

Do you have a lathe? If you have one, majority of the belt conversion is to make the spindle bearing housing sleeve, belt pulley, and the rest can be made on your mill. Take a look at Hoss, he has the plans to do the conversion, bearing suggestions, parts lists, overall great resource if you have a g0704 www.migration.g0704.com/belt_drive_dvdrom_download.html

@@stargatefred the best advice I can give you is this, if you can't afford the kit, and you have the tools, the hoss plans I mentioned in the previous comment is the best and to be honest is fairly simple if you have the patience and time. I don't know what application you are tying to use a faster spindle speed, but the faster your spindle goes the smaller the bit, unless you converted to a CNC a slightly faster spindle is not really going to help you with manual milling. Best of luck, to be honest if I was to redo this project I would basically look at Clough42 and think about investing in a different motor/spindle. With this upgrade your not only buying the kit, but you also have to buy new bearings to handle the faster speed, and when all said in done you can easily be 200$ more in just bearings/grease.

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
