    That surface finish is fantastic. You consider making a cover for the spindle pully setup quieten it down a little?

      Manny Calavera Yes that will help first the power draw bar😁

    I would check for axial play up and down between the bearings. Sometimes the lower bearing is not fully seated.

      Stephen Brown good suggestions I checked everything had me stumped for awhile but figured it out the top hat can not be tensioned to the pulley if so it will lock the spindle solid. Same as if you tighten the spindle nut up to tight.

    Like the addition to a single pulley setup. Any place in the drawbar and quill to add a rubber o'ring for noise dampening? Just a thought. Rubber bushings in cars to help on vibration / noise.

      Maybe possible I've found its not really a issue when machining

    what about rotating the quill in the spines and use a different spline. as you said the splines are't perfect, might help with the rattle

      I ended up using a nylon bushing.

    Nice solution Sam. I have a similar situation with my PM-940 that i'd like to convert. One of the other guys gave me an extra bearing carrier with the gears attached and i want to do something similar that you did. Can you tell me what type of metal you used for the extension and for the welding was there any type of special rod used? Thanks.

      T~Jo Fab my buddy Wyatt did the quill mod. He used tig rod for steel, 70000 tensile 1040 cold rolled

    Nice vid. Subbed. Did you ever fix the rattle ?? Seems loud.

    • @CNC4XR7
      @CNC4XR7  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did I used a nylon bushing

      @@CNC4XR7 do you have a video of the install or function or details of the bushing ? Thanks

    one trick with the acrolocs is to put some heavy grease on the splines or they will clack and rattle which is amplified by the metal shrouding.
    Since your not using that as the Z why not just lock it down with a shim, bushing or set screws?

      Tom Hutchins it quiets down a bit once engaged with material

      after the prior pulley setup having things tied together is NOT what I want

  • @tomhutchins1046
    @tomhutchins1046 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wouldn't you want the spines at the top to make a wider base? for support

    • @CNC4XR7
      @CNC4XR7  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i assume you are talking about inverting the Quill? I cant really say how much it matters to be honest but having the engagement near the top spindle bearing makes sense so that it has the support of the bearing

    for diy guys, a very high speed of low torque and low speed of high torque can be happened and available are the problem. The high speed is said to be around 10,000 rpm for micro milling or engraving. \So, would it be a way to use a adapter motor module (of course to be small in size) to be put into the spindle collet whenever it is used.
