Absolutely can't go to Porto's without getting potato balls, and Guava Strudel. 2 of my absolute favorites! Great job on this one!

In a perfect world where calories don't exist I would eat those pastries daily. Breads, sweets, pastries are my weakness.

I remember the original on Brand Blvd in Glendale. We used to go for lunch and they'd send us to the back where a baker would stop what he was doing to make us ham or turkey with Swiss on fresh croissants.
We used to get sweet pastries and those wonderful meat pies for meetings at work.
Worked up the street from their OG store in Glendale in the 90s. Oh My, the flan and pastries brought back memories of when I went there. Thanks for the review.

The cheese in the cheese roll reminds me of the filling in a cheese danish. The quesadilla reminds me of a pound cake. Everything is so reasonably priced and great quality. I never mind waiting in line, it gives me time to enjoy picking out what I want!
Line goes quickly, but if it winds outside, may take a good minute. lol
Gosh I love Porto’s. Wish they’d roll out nationally!

I lived in buena park. In 1965. I lived right Down the street from Knott's Berry farm. It wasn't fenced in or anything. You could just walk right in and wander around.
Interesting! Different times for sure.
As a Cuban from Miami we call the strudels “pastelitos”.
It was so weird seeing the labels say strudels.
The flan looked amazing. Looked very creamy.
We regularly visited Porto's when we lived in LA and is definitely one of the things I miss about living in Southern California. I have been to several of their locations are they are all fantastic - the line can be long but it moves fast and is worth it. The pastries, sandwiches, plates and savory pastries are all delicious and the price point is reasonable. The guava and guava cheese pastries are my favorite and the cheese rolls are wonderful too. The coconut strudel is a must if you like coconut! I am going to have to order some of their bake at home offerings. The Trader Joe's cheese pastries are pretty good in a pinch.Thanks for another great video!

They have great breakfast sandwiches and I like mine on Cuban bread. Their french toast is awesome too, served with cream cheese. The prices are reasonable. It is a beautiful display case.

Glad you visited the Buena Park one - the one close by to Knott’s Berry Farm. Porto’s is absolutely delicious. My family has gotten whole cakes from them for special occasions, and their cakes do not disappoint. There’s a reason why Porto’s is always busy.

Hi Bill! Hi Lisa! We absolutely LOVE Porto’s! The one in West Covina is quite large as well. The lechon plato is my hubbies’ favorite. We also love the pan con lechon, the cubano, and my favorite is the rustic chicken salad. Pre pandemic, Porto’s had so many more desserts. I wish they’d bring back the little two-bite desserts for parties. Thank you for sharing folks! I cannot wait to see where your next adventure takes us! 🥰

We love you guys … Porto’s is the best . I wish you would have spoken just a little about there history. There Cuban heritage and story. That’s important when you’re talking about a family own bakery. The original location is in Glendale.

Hi Guys 🌺 , so glad you went to Porto’s one of our favorite spots to visit , we went on a week day and omg , we waited in line 🙈 but so worth it , have not tried the dishes you guys had except for the potato balls so yummy I got home and tried to duplicate , I agree with Lisa that fresh fruit tart is my number one desert , however anything you get is going to be a awesome eat , everybody we saw had bags and bags including us lol and opening at downtown Disney what a treat , again 👍👍👍

You guys should come this way and go bakery hopping: Portos, 85c, Paris Baguette, Tous Les Jours, The Bakery & Cafe, maybe Cheesetella (not a full bakery, but various castella cakes), Yozm Donut.
I was thinking after I saw your Bob's Big Boy vlog when you guys will do a
Porto's revisit. Wished Porto's would open a bakery/cafe in the Bay Area. Everything looks delicious. My daughter shipped a variety of baked goods to me for Mothers Day. But I would love to physically be there for the experience. Thanks again for another tasty episode. Can't wait to see where you fly to on your next vlog.

Great vlog.. Great to see Porto's up close. We went there on a recommendation from our son during our trip to California last year. But, it was impossible to park and the line was out the door so we left and went down the street to IHOP. Now I wish we waited it out.
Next time! Weekdays and early is the best time.
Porto's is delicious. Ive been going to the Glendale location since the 80's. Now I work close to the Northridge location.

Portos Pastries are amazing. This location is extremely extremely busy and crowded on the weekends. I recommend a weekday visit if you can.

Hey guys you need to go to Luisa and Sons Philipino bakery. There are several locations in LA. Great video guys! My only Porto’s suggestion is buy them by the dozen!. Meat potato and chicken empanada. The cheese and guava desserts are awesome as well!

My husband and I go to that location. We enjoy having the savory and sweet items. I have to stop myself from ordering so much. 😂 Sometimes we order just enough so I can freeze them. 😊

Porto's has a spot here in my city of West Covina. I have yet to go as it is always so crowded. I think I will give it a go today. I have had several items from work pot lucks and they do not disappoint.
I go to the one in West Covina and the lines sometimes go outside the door. The good part is they are VERY EFFICIENT, kinda like IN n OUT. What day and time did you visit? That's the LEAST amount of people I've seen at a Porto's in over 2 decades visiting different locations. 🙂
Think we went on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

You guys are killing me with this vlog. I LOVE PORTOS!!!! But living near DTLA the closest one is in Burbank. Which takes at least 1 hour + by bus each way. Sad 😩
Love Porto's, been to that one. I met up with the manager and he gave us a tour behind the scenes. What a great time we had. Try to see if you two can do the same.

The way I describe guava is an earthy tasting strawberry. I think the nectar/juice is very polarizing because it can taste like dishwater or damp basement, the way that people who don't like cilantro/coriander because to them (and this is hereditary) it tastes like soap. So sometimes the mineral taste can be a turn off. Sometimes having nectar super iced or cold can get rid of that. I've never tried the guava pastries at Porto's because I'm afraid that the warm guava will taste like damp basement.
Give one a try, might like it! If not, you’ll know not to get that again. lol
