    Wow! Another great adventure. I've seen other YTers from Japan talk about how challenging it can be to eat on the streets. I guess that's why you don't find too many public trashcan. Love your hotel, and the room is very American friendly.

    • @billandlisa
      @billandlisa  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Carol! Eating on the go is probably discouraged which is a good thing, streets and sidewalks are a lot cleaner. That said, couple areas in Shinjuku were a bit dirty.

    • @eatlikealocal
      @eatlikealocal ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Japan's cities used to feature public trash cans. In 1995, the Aum Shinrikyo cult carried out a terrorist attack using Sarin poison gas bombs in the Tokyo subway system (including ar the Shinjuku station that Bill and Lisa visited in this video). The bombs were hidden in public trash cans and the attack killed 14 people and injured hundreds. In response, public trash cans were subsequently removed.

    1) I doubt I will ever get to Japan but, damn ... it IS still on my bucket list after wanting to go there for about 50 years!
    2) I admire you guys for going such a looooooong way for such a short amount of time.
    3) Frankly, I am surprised to see a wet bath situation on Japan. I am accustomed to seeing those types of set-ups in videos of other Asian countries' hotels and such, but not so much from Japan.
    4) 19 C (as it says on your AC unit) = 66 F which to me is FREEZING. I prefer 23 C myself for room temps. I like a nice WARM room.
    5) Surprised the room is so small, to be honest with you, but, the more I think about it the more I also view it as being Japanese space economy and them wanting to make use of the smallest amount of space possible.
    6) Hang on, Bill ... did I hear you say that the A/C works well in your room? Wait, you are using air conditioning????? Man ... hearty souls you two are. I like a room which people, who come to see me, call ... a SAUNA! Mmmm, nice and warm.

If you ever come to Downey California, there’s a couple places I recommend. Pieloon which is a family restaurant and two really great pizza places, one is called Downey pizza company and the other is called Pina pizza, which is my favorite pizza in Downey. Also, we have the oldest running McDonald’s in the entire world in Downey, which you probably already know. Amazing! If you don't mind me asking, how are you able to do travel so frequently and to so many different locations? No details needed - just curious! Are you pilots or flight attendants? :D So awesome! Thank you for sharing, love tagging along on your adventures.

    I don't know how you and Bill do it. You are call over the place! Lol. What's the secret for jet lag and no sleep. I would be so discombooberated! The food at the Jsakiji Market looked sooo yum
    I know some of the very best seafood comes into this market. I have always wanted to go to Tokyo Japan and many other prefectors. The food. The ppl. The customs sooo interest me . I want to visit a Ryokan. anyway you tow beautiful ppl, my SoCal, same city neighbors, thank you both Soo much for taking me along on your adventures. It entertains me, keeps me connected and interested in traveling and curious about other cities, countries. Now that I have mobility issues, as Bill and you indicated at the train station, if you do have that issue, wrather than take the train , use a cab. Those things are helpful to me and just because I have an issue with my mobility, it's good to have good information that there are taxi rides to get you safely from one place to another. I like the cleanliness of the city. The vending machines.! I could go on and on. You know, I love the Disney Store, Bon Voyage? Such unique to Japan Disney. Well, Merry Christmas to you both and the family. Looking to 2024 with you! Exciting times!🎅🎁🎁🎄💛🙂

      Thank you, Paula. To combat jet lag, we try and sleep on the plane, then stay up until nighttime and be in bed by 11pm (at the destination time zone). We have a couple more Japan videos coming, stay tuned for more adventures. =)

    With all the traveling you both have done, any issues with covid? Seems social distancing is the key so I assume you practice that and monitor large gatherings. Another great video. Domo arigato gozaimasu.

    Melon pan is a pineapple bun is a concha. They are all the same thing. The crust is the design of a pineapple or melon skin, but it just tastes like a butter cookie topped milk bread bun unless it has a filling like red bean or custard. Light and delicious.

    Guys, what I like about steak served on a sizzling plate is that the meat cooks still, which is great if you are served blood rare stuff ... which I have to confess that I do NOT like, truth be told.
    And, what is in the 7-Elevens plus the Conbini (convenience stores) is super cool as well.
    None other than the late, great chef Anthony Bourdain loved the Lawson convenience stores' egg salad sandwiches, even!

      In the areas we've visited, there seemed to be more Lawson's than 7-Elevens. Both have great selections.
