I like this split home setup a lot, but I'd put a bit more space between the 2 buildings for privacy. I think this would be a perfect arrangement for a retiree who wants some supplemental steady rental income. I'm considering building something like this when I retire for that reason.
Who wouldn't love this set up on some country acres, maybe on a lake or large personal pond? Just beautiful guys; well done. (golfer clap)

This is exactly what I want to build one day. One thing I’d change is centering the mini split over the hall in the main living. That’d drive me nuts.

Josh, is the variable speed HVAC you referred to in video the as a "VRF" or just a "mini-split"?
Just a standard mini split….
What's the cost run on something like this. I wouldn't mind something like this for my family and using the extra building as a mother-in-law suite / guest house but without cost values provided it gives ideas but not realistic knowledge. I'd ask for the general costs of construction to be included in videos or in the descriptions at least.

Yes they both do. They don’t count as floor sqft though.
@@TexasBestBarndominium To be clear, do you charge the same as living space under roof? Or same as porch space? Looks like the calculator adds same multipliers with living and concrete etc.
That guest house is exactly the size I'm wanting to build on the back side of the property where my business is. I'd like to do a 30x60 that is half shop and half living. Are the plans for that layout on the website? if not would you mind sharing the room sizes?

I wonder if anybody had this idea about the dining area in these open floor plans. I thought of the island being a rectangle that maybe you can add on a lower step down that would poke out perpendicular like turning it into a t-shape. And depending how long you make the lower T part, you could add chairs on either side and bottom (regular standard table height of course) and add seating for four, six or even eight. Depending how tall the t-shaped Island would be. I wonder if anyone has ever done that type of custom work? I think it might work in some of these open floor plans that don't have a lot of space for a dining room table.

Not true. I have had the same units for 3-4 years now. They work extremely well.

Yes check our Sherman Barndominium, also Whitney Farmstyle Build & Hico Barndominium
Also Riesel Barndominium, Blum Barndominium and maybe some others I missed
@TexasBestBarndominium Gotta say that Hico barndominium was kinda what I like. Shop is farther away from the house. We only have 3 acres, and my wife complains we make too much noise as mechanics.
Ceiling to high for west texas couldn't afford to cool or heat it
