This is definitely my new favorite floor plan that y’all have done!! Charlie, quick tip, in houses like this one that have good access to the attic, I’d really love and appreciate if you could include that in the video. I know you’re trying not to make videos too terribly long but that would be super helpful to visualize how much space is up there for storage. Great video as always!
Love most of this house but some of those design choices are wild to me. Would love to see it decorated bc as a graphic designer who has a pretty good eye for design details and was once wanting to be an interior designer and architect, I'm not seeing the vision for some of these homeowner's design choices. Sincerely from a quite curious fellow Texan from rural, small town North TX
Looks like the building was designed in Revit! Just from the floor plan looks like Revit dimensions and text. Nice design! I spend many summers doing warranty work on Menards steel buildings with my Dad growing up! No Menard stores in TX though lol!
Yes they have insulation, they have to to meet code. How much beyond what the code requires depends on how much you want to spend. BTW, there is NO PLACE in the US where you could have new construction and NOT have insulation.
I really like this house, but I wish there was a fireplace! Do ya'll build a house with just 2 bathrooms with a half bath for guest? We only need 2 bedrooms with a another small room for a office!
I think it’s odd that the bedrooms are the first thing you hit but the half bath and coat closet are down the hallway more…a wine room on top of a bar is so unnecessary, the master wing has the movie room in it…so many weird layout choices.
@@tobyfox6195 Anytime I watch one of these tours, I try to remind myself that this is someone's dream home and they chose the design. Even if I think it's flawed, hopefully, it works for them and is what they wanted.
The way they are built with all metal roofs and sides, those places are going to be around for A LONG time. Look at the 150-200 year old tin-roofed and sided barns that were just built and never maintained that are still standing to this day. Some were maintained and kept up and they're in much better shape, And the metal used on these should last longer. It's cool what they are doing with these buildings today.
I see too many double hung windows. When my customers asked why I liked casement windows so well, my response was, “ would you design in sliding windows / doors in a submarine?” They leak folks. Double hung windows have 8 sides of two windows that have to be loose enough to “slide”. Just imagine a twenty mile an hour wind pushing cold air ( winter) or hot air ( summer) in around those 8 sash sides. On the opposite side of the home heated air ( or cooled air ) will be leaking out of the house. Consequently you will have to pay to reheat or re-cool all that air that is leaving your house. I started building energy efficient building and solar homes back in 1981. No longer building at 78 but still do a little designing. What air you have conditioned ( heated or cooled ) keep it or pay for it over and over and over!

Beautiful large home. But why oh why not a built in Sub Zero or alike fridge? I realize it is double or triple the price of the fridge they have but it’s well worth the quality and look. Also, just an aside, consider putting AC electric outlets in the bottom trim instead of a foot or so on wall. Much cleaner look. Otherwise beautiful.

Horrible floor plan. Reminds me of a mobile home where the first thing you see is a long hallway. Also, kitchen is a total afterthought.the lime green color in master bath was hideous.
I thought it was a great layout the hallway and bedrooms allow the open spaces to be on the waterfront side of the house. As far as the colors this was a custom build so the owner picked them. I like the colors it's great to see something other than white cabinets and gray everywhere! How about you post a video tour of your house?
Try (if you can) to keep in mind that this is a CUSTOM build and the customer probably made all of the choices you find atrocious. Personally, there are too many features and style choices to list, that I consider to be nonsensical.
I'm trying to understand how u have all that house & no formal dining area! Also that bar eats into the room too much! Not a fan of the finishes either!
Meh. Nice job overall, but several features (at least for me) are a waste of space and money. The Bar, Wine Room, Wet Island and the kitchen is too compact. Also, the last two houses I have had built I completely omitted bathtubs. If you don't have small children, then tubs are a waste. I stopped having 'baths' when I was six or seven. Too each their own I guess.

I thought a huge point of a barndo was to go cheaper. I went on their site and it says 300k for 1200 sq foot? Thats more then a block house in my area (could get a even bigger block house for that price). I live in florida as well it nots like im in a super cheap area. They finessing people out here what the hell....
There is no doubt you could build a cheaper house. We have never claimed to be a cheap builder. When you build a fully custom home from start to finish, the cost is typically higher than a spec home built in a neighborhood. Thank you for watching our channel!
There is literally many advantages. It’s typically much cheaper per sqft to build. The interior layout is infinite my easier to modify without having to consult a structural engineer because the weight of the frame is all carried on the perimeter vs through interior weight bearing walls and exterior walls like a traditional house build. That’s to name a few.
False. I just finished up my barndo build in Colorado. A 1600 sq ft, 2 bed/2bath, 16’ ceilings, crawl space - 100% offgrid with solar and backup generator/ propane heat, geothermal for crawl space - R49 insulation (super expensive but county required) all in $250k.
@@josephpaul7280 There are minimum wind load ratings for all structures that are intended for residential use. These buildings are quite strong. Considering how fast this building style is being adopted, resale value should not be an issue for a well maintained structure. The shells, basically the structure, are cheaper and faster to build, require a lot less maintenance and are impervious to insects tile termites.
