Where I live there are big restrictions on doing renovation work on asbestos. Basically you have to be the homeowner with no intent to sell in the next year or otherwise if you do sell within a year, you have to pay huge fines for not having a licensed company do the work. Stuff like that...just make sure to protect yourself...on top of reading all safety precautions when working with it.

Nearly 40 years ago my father, with the assistance of friends and brothers who had experience in construction, cabinetry, and electrical among other things built our ranch home from the ground up. I took a class inbuilding a shed which we actually built. It was all from scratch and nothing prefab. We went to Lowes in the contracter section and learned how to order proberly determined amounts of paint, lumber, siding, faseners, etc. Your video made it all look simple because you are a young expert who like all great carpenters, are ethical, precise, creative, daring, resourceful, amble and able, sure footed, coordinated, determined, consistent and willing to admit what didn't work well, how you would do things differently and the willingness to learn about new techniques and tools and equiptment. Wow, thanks for your great video. I have a LLC and have rehabbed one house so far for rental income. I too bought the worst house in a nearby neighborhood and spent a year fixing it up. I am now looking for another house to rehab, and your Curb Appeal projects are an inspiration. Bravo!
Wow this was an incredible watch. I am in awe and inspired. The gable definitely added value. My great grandfather birthed a construction company back in the day that still sits with one side of my family. I can only imagine how much work and dedication it takes to do these projects. My great grandfathers house still stands today with his wife still living inside of it. He passed away many years ago but his work will live into my great grandchildren’s lives
When you are struggling and you value anything that comes your way, you will practically live with any situation, until you can get it fixed. People who do not know what it feels like to really struggle have no idea of the concept of valuing…everything that comes your way, no matter how it looks. I would have lived in this house just the way it was. You made it look beautiful. People who leave negative comments hate themselves and their life, that’s why they behave like bullies. I loved that you did it without the permit at first, I do that in my life so much, I say….ah, the hell with it, when they come I will deal with it. The hoops that this world has simply invented to suck money out of people is incredible annoying. Great work, it looks amazing! 🎉
For those of us that don't have much $, but want to make things look nice. the refinished stairs looks really good. Also, something that I could do by myself. ❤
I have a mobile home a double unit and have been fixing up everything on the inside all brand new doors repainted the frames white and redone our master bathroom and all brand new windows installed just have some skirting to fix this next spring and got new appliances installed. It can be daunting and a lot of work but once it’s done it’s so nice knowing it’s right and will last. Thanks for the upload!
The people that said it was still just as bad after the outside refresh before the porch roof went on are insane, or just trolls. The house looks miles better than before. The porch roof was just cherry on top. This is an awesome update overall.
The people in the comments saying the house was still ugly after all the work you'd put in could probably never have achieved anything even close. I would gladly live in that house even without the last addition. Having said that, it also looks very nice and you did a great job
This looks fantastic- amazing what some creative thought and hard work without breaking the bank can do. What a transformation- it looks like a new house yet without the waste of demolition when ironically this older house WILL be better built than any new home.
Very nice job! House looks great. I’ve done 4 houses now, started at 50 years old, never intended to, but life circumstances brought me to do them. If I can do it at 50 and I’m a female, a young kid can do this. I think men are born with a knowledge of building that women don’t have, it takes me a bit longer but the houses are beautiful after. Yes the neighbors are grateful.
Speak for yourself sis, I've done every hardware project, my husband takes care of the cooking and that's catering to our strengths. Don't confuse nurture with nature.
I have been in.Residential and Industrial construction for 30 years, so I think I can give an educated experience..Nice job..This house has 1000% more curb appeal than before..I think you made some great choices, and the workmanship was real good, as well. If I were looking for a home of this size to rent, I would absolutely want to look at this one....😊
I think you did a great job. The only thing I would add are some wood flower boxes underneath the windows to connect the wood around the door. Same stain.
I also want to mention that if I drove by this home , my impression would be that a hardworking, industrious middle class couple lived there, who took pride in their home!!
People who are negative… “I can afford a mortgage , but still think it’s horrible “ kind of people, are negative in everyday life. They love to pass judgement and like to stick out of the crowd by having others respond to their rediculous comments. I guarantee if you watch other videos, you’ll see these same pathetic people being rude and insulting! The guy in this video did a great job for what he had to work with !
It looks much better! The thing that would make the most difference now is longer windows across the front. Those short windows are what they put in trailers. Longer ones would look much better. Just a thought…🤗🐝❤️
Those short, high up windows were kind of an 80's thing (glad they stopped doing that). But yeah, I would put in some newer style windows just to help break up the blocky look of the house.
Good job. Maybe consider flower boxes with longer shutters to make the windows look bigger. A wider front porch might have made the house look more comfy. My friend said taller bushes under the windows. You did a great transformation, and I applaud you.
More young couples need to buy starter homes like this and do that work - if the entire neighborhood was mostly bought up as starter homes and people did these fixer upper things, the majority of the neighborhood being upgraded would benefit everybody.
NO. Not only are "young couples" buying old charm homes and stripping them of character but theyre also doing them without professional help or hiring out for cheap and doing shit jobs of renos. So many homes that had potential have been ruined because people come in looking to make a profit and because they arent going to live there themselves they dont care about the quality of work done.
That's true, but I'm trying to keep the old charm of my fixer upper. I have painted the crap out of it though. I'm working on a facelift of the house instead of a re design. I even kept the wood paneling "which is solid wood@@viepng
@@viepngin my area you can pay a contractor top dollar and will only get slightly better (sometimes worse) quality than DIY and will go weeks or even months without showing up in the middle of the project, all while giving you the runaround.
Congratulations and truly amazing transformation! A lot of work went into this, but what fabulous improvement. My husband’s parents live in a large neighborhood with small ranchers which can be more affordable for young newlyweds, empty-nesters, and hopefully agers in place. If these homes had a covered front entryway, this beautiful, I think they all would love this.
One. It’s beautiful! Two. Don’t ever try to get away without a permit. It’s a nightmare when they find you. And it’s the nicest house in the neighborhood
I really ENJOYED watching you work on this DUMP!!!! You TRULY TRANSFORMED IT!!!! The only thing missing would be to have it BLESSED!!!! After all, it was a "CRACK HOUSE"!!!!

The gabel made it perfect! I love the solid concrete garden bed too, opposed to the typical landscape blocking! Nice work!
Very well said!
Beautiful outcome! I love watching home make-overs from beginning to end!
For those of us that don't have much $, but want to make things look nice. the refinished stairs looks really good. Also, something that I could do by myself. ❤
Love this little home. I’m a retired Grammy and would give my right kidney to have a home like this ❤😊
Gable looks a little light weight / incomplete
Hysterical. But keep that kidney😂
Wow, what a transformation! This house looks like a new build! Fantastic job on the curb appeal!
Looks great and I bet your neighbours are happy as well.
The people in the comments saying the house was still ugly after all the work you'd put in could probably never have achieved anything even close. I would gladly live in that house even without the last addition. Having said that, it also looks very nice and you did a great job
Actually, I really like the "Smurf blue" color on the door! Everything looks fantastic!
If you feel you're missing some building knowledge, okay, but there's no need to say all women are like that. We aren't. Good for you with your renos!
Speak for yourself sis, I've done every hardware project, my husband takes care of the cooking and that's catering to our strengths. Don't confuse nurture with nature.
Incredible change. The transformation is so beautiful and the home is much more curb appealing. Great job!
It looks great! I love taking old homes and making them shine again.
Nice nice nice. You successfully turned it into a silk purse.
Turned that whole house around! 😮💨👌🏽
BEAUTIFUL TRANSFORMATION!!!!
🏠❤🏠❤🏠❤🏠❤🏠❤
I just bought my first home this month, I keep coming back to your channel for ideas and instructions.
Thanks!
Congratulations on the home purchase! Good luck with all of you projects and thanks for the support!
I would have added an entire front porch - you worked so hard on this redo
Fabulous! Love seeing a house that has been unloved for a while get a beautiful makeover!! ❤️👏
Haters will hate. The place looks great!
Haters will hate, potatoes will potate
Still looking for these so called haters 🤖
EXCELLENT, great job, awesome colors, it all looks so beautiful , wonderful !
I appreciate it, Michaela!
Same stain.
I can see how that would give it a cottage vibe would probably tie in with the shutters well.
Bless you for putting two railings on the front steps. As a handicapped person, I love and need railings with every step.
Wow beautiful...I hope you're proud of yourself..this house looks like a loved home now...
Beautiful job. I can’t even put up a shelf so I find this sort of video just… phenomenal! Great stuff 👍
I also want to mention that if I drove by this home , my impression would be that a hardworking, industrious middle class couple lived there, who took pride in their home!!
Amen
Wonderful! You are so talented.
Same
shut up
Looking great. Having the right tools and will power made this project come out great.
The people commenting negatively can't afford a mortgage anyways, let the haters hate, you turned this around!
Why the hate? I think he's doing a great job 👍
Great job.
I can afford a mortgage...just being honest it looks terrible.
@@kevinbutton4580what’s terrible about it?
You are AMAZINGLY TALENTED! Your TRANSFORMATION is REALLY WELL DONE . . . THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
Good job. Maybe consider flower boxes with longer shutters to make the windows look bigger. A wider front porch might have made the house look more comfy. My friend said taller bushes under the windows. You did a great transformation, and I applaud you.
I agree with you 100%.
Bushes grow larger...
Wonderful! Fun to see a real man working.. I would like to see the inside transformed, too
That looks so much better. Thanks for sharing the house looks brand new.
When I saw this at 0:54 I just closed the video. That's actually insane.
Why?
I think you guys did a great job. I bought my first house not too long ago. it was built in 1950, and boy oh boy does it need work.
@@Plutogalaxy lol
That's true, but I'm trying to keep the old charm of my fixer upper. I have painted the crap out of it though. I'm working on a facelift of the house instead of a re design. I even kept the wood paneling "which is solid wood@@viepng
It would be great for an elder downsize as well.
@@viepngin my area you can pay a contractor top dollar and will only get slightly better (sometimes worse) quality than DIY and will go weeks or even months without showing up in the middle of the project, all while giving you the runaround.
This is absolutely gorgeous! You did a great job on curb appeal.
Thanks Monique!
WOW... you and your crew did a FANTASTIC JOB! It looks great!
