That's awesome, yall did such an amazing job. I've commented quite a few times on the live episodes and shared I recently purchased 6.5 acres. Getting it cleared finally next week if the rain holds off then we'll be building on it. Pretty excited to homestead with the wife and kiddo on it. Just wanted to share that, congrats on what all yall have accomplished!
Brandon, thank you for this. My wife and I ordered our AG barn style pole barn kit from Strouds Buildings and we're starting our build next week. We put one 12x30 up a few months ago to put our RV in, and I'm impressed with how quick and simple the whole setup was. It took me five days. Just FIVE days! Crazy. Anyhow, I never would have gone down this road had it not been for your video series on the house build. Thank you again! Always a pleasure.
Something I have done is when I build large showers, I put the valve near the entrance and the shower head away from the entrance. There is no need to have the valve located right under the shower head as is normally done. I also try to eliminate the shower door. Very little splash will get out of an opening 6 feet from the shower head.
I like it. I would not have a pool, but in the same area a raised garden and the huge porches, I would have closed in with windows and screens to be 4 seasons porches. I also would like a woodburning cook stove on the porch and inside along with all electrical appliances inside including the regular stove. I don't really care for high ceilings, so I would have raised that and made an upstairs. The 4 season porch could then extend upward to the upstairs as well. Oh, I forgot to add that I would like lanterns all along all the walls just in case the electricity goes out. That is where the woodburning cookstoves on the porch and in the kitchen would help heat. Yes, the kitchen would have two stoves. One woodburning and the other electrical. I like the idea of large farm sinks everywhere. I like the idea of no bathtubs. Only showers. And I like the idea of half baths with large farm sinks. I would need two downstairs and two upstairs. Showers upstairs. The bedrooms are all upstairs. Downstairs would be split into three areas. One single large center for family holidays and on each side of the house a room where the men can go and the women on the other side. Games. Player piano. TVs and CD movie machines along with at least one good old-time radio with speakers throughout the house. I like the idea of having double doors to enter and upstairs a double door and a pulley system to lower the floor from the upstairs to take furniture upstairs more easily without having to use the stairwell. Solar Cells and a couple of wind turbines that look like windmills. A joined car garage with a drain so I may wash the car inside the garage and above the garage a studio with a small kitchenette and single fold up/fold down wall bed. Oh, yes. I like the idea of no carpet anywhere.
No way can we ever afford anything like y'all have. However I really appreciate all the building tips to save money on a new build. We're buying 2 1/2 acers here in Oklahoma. And we're just happy to get a used single wide trailer to fix up. We live in our 5th wheel and trust me it ain't glamorous 😅. We don't get to travel. God blessed us and I am looking forward to self sufficiency. God bless y'all, you have a beautiful home.😊
Don't lose hope that you can have something amazing and paid for. My hubby and I spent 5 and a half years in a camper on our land building our house by hand because at the time we couldn't even find a used trailer, now they are everywhere again. We are in our house now, it is only 700 sq ft but it's fabulous after coming out of 150 sq ft of RV.
Hi Andrew and Tiffany. I am so thankful to you for making this video - the algorithm introduced you to me. I was especially impressed with your foresight to build with ADA access.
Excellent Video!!! So happy that you and Tiffany did this 2-year update. The information on this channel is some of the best you can find on the internet. Thanks again for all that you do.
Amazing video! Don't forget to come to the live tonight at 7PM EST. Wonderful group of people and it will be a lot of fun as we'll be celebrating Tiffany's Birthday!
As a professional builder , I would highly suggest to take extreme caution with any kind of battery system, they often burn, and when they do, it’s a disaster. As for myself, I plan to live a lifestyle like youreself sometime in the future, but I plan on building a basement of concrete reinforced walls just for storage of batteries. They are highly hazardous in a house...
@@TzUuup i like to Think he is a busy person, and he didn’t see my comment 😃 But I can’t understand why he put the main battery storage next to the gas and diesel tanks on the wood shed, and inside the house in the pantry storage( food is very flammable, believe it or not 😃). Both places can become bombs in case of a battery fire. I’ve seen some fires in my life, but nothing compares to a battery fire.
Been watching since the tornado. Loved watching you build your home, outdoor kitchen, all of it. I'm staying for everything else you guys have going on.
I have pantry envy. Ours is one of those little corner pantries that only a small child can actually enter and find anything in. It was very smart of you to go big and wire for a freezer as well!
Your entire bedroom area is a suite. Attached master bath, walk in closet and makeup vanity. In all reality, your master suite is just that. It’s awesome. I love all things about your home. ✌🏻🤍🤞🏽 One suggestion, just in case you have a guest in the upstairs room, you may want to consider adding a tiny little 1/2 bath in the attic area maybe. Hi Andrew and Tiffany, the panning shots of our home at the first part of the video ,your home looks fantastic. I personally love every thing you both have done with the build. There was a lot of thought put into all you have done and it shows. Nice going back and remembering the time of the build and seeing the finished product. Love you guys and your videos. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
I'm a Realtor who finds small country homes can be a hard sell when buyers hear about the hassle and expenses of permits and work of enlarging the house and especially the septic, so your oversized septic is a huge +++
We bought 4 acres in the country 8 years ago and it has absolutely no restrictions, that was the selling point. We are members of a co-op and it cost literally 75$ to get them to run power poles to our house which we built ourselves. Our septic is small but it works for us. Land around here is becoming premium, especially set up.

We upgraded our HVAC a few years back to a multistage one that runs at varying tonnage.
You need to write an owner manual for your next owners for all the things you have done nd realtors can refer to it in 40 years.

We used a Tilcor metal roof. Looks just like shingles but lifetime insulated hail proof.
Have you ever considered replacing the windows on the side by the outside kitchen with 2 sets of French doors? Love your home.
We didn't want to because that entices foot traffic through the living room.
The outside is stunning
You should put in a door on the end with outside kitchen. Way better than a window pass through.
No thanks, that causes everyone to track right through our living room.
