I want to thank you. You see my step grandson has just started being interested in wood working. He loves wood, and has even started to make plain boxes. He isn't doing too good in his math classes, (he's 8) and uses the excuse that you don't need to know anything beyond adding, subtracting, and dividing. No one uses anything else. I showed him this video, and asked him if he could make one of these for me. The look on his face was priceless! He said he didn't know how to go about figuring out the angles. I said..well guess you must learn about that huh. He just looked at me and said...I got homework to do. 😆 I believe with your help we reached this boy. Thankyou!!!!! Also, wonderful art piece. It's gorgeous.

I’m sure there’s a certain amount of Mad Scientist in all you Lathe Artist’s! That’s an epic piece of art.

And resin, of course. That's a LOT of lovely Purple Heart wood. It looks like an optical illusion of a brick wall. Very cool!!!

ohhh purple heart,,,, dense stuff, hard to work with... and what ever you do, dont get a piece of it in your eye, the oil in the wood will turn your eye into the deseret thats on fire... cocobola does the same too.. but I do luv the color tho when its freshly cut. the finished item definately shows off the precision needed to create it, awesome as usual... you must have stamped the bottom of the support ;)

OMG! The time, patience, and attention to detail this must have taken to create this amazing finished piece is almost beyond words worthy of describing it. That was truly a masterpiece of craftsmanship to create that work of art. I don't think i would have even had enough patience to cut up all wedges that you used to reassemble/assemble into that, much less all the iterative steps that you had to go through before you could even begin the wood turning portion. Just WOW! You always impress, and this is certainly no exception. Thanks for sharing, and take care.

Looks like a portal to some "Other World" in the depths of old London or New York. It's beautiful Andy.

The prep is everything in this extraordinary piece, the turning itself really just the finishing touch. Superb craftsmanship, endless patience, dogged persistence, stunning outcome. For the benefit of non-Brits, "Purple Bricks" is the name of a chain of estate agents/realtors in the UK.
