Most of the weight is actually pretty close to the center. The only part that sticks out far is the loop of wood, which isn't terribly heavy. I'm amazed that the bowl part just happened to fit so that he could barely get the tailstock next to it.
@@upanther I guess he planned out the geometry to work with the double setup. I needed a second to realize that the upper part weighs very little because it's hollow.
@@MrSaemichlaus A CAD software can calculate volumes and gravity center and also simulate whether the piece will balance or not. Although in the actual piece, the core is not precisely machined. And Andy he may have added a hidden weight under the base.

Gotta keep it out of the sun, with a UV finish, as, from what I understand, purpleheart will turn brown with age in the sun.
