You're right to say that black palm has the coolest grain, it almost looks like animal print. Very handsome indeed, and I love it that you never stain any of your pieces.
I know absolutely nothing about the technical stuff of wood turning but I know I enjoy watching logs, stumps and other various pieces of wood being turned into something amazing and beautiful by someone who truly loves what they do! Your talent is second to none. Thank you for sharing this with us 😊
Even after 40 plus years of woodworking , it's still amazing to see the grain come alive just when you apply the finish . Nicely done sir , nicely done
A fantastic piece Andy. I agree, it looks like a piece of quality porcelain. I enjoy every job you take on, the outcome is always great, keep up the great work, look forward to your next project 👍👍👍👍👍
Oh man, I LOVE black palm! It's the wood that taught me the absolute value of having friggin razor sharp friggin tools! This is gorgeous work, thanks for showing us!
Yes, cool grain. I love the occasional diagonal going through the horizontal. Lots of planning for this piece, Andy and the results are spectacular! Phil
Don’t suppose this was knocked up before your first cup of tea in the morning…..AMAZING work as always. Great stuff so enjoyable and inspirational to watch, thanks.
The first thought I had when I read you were using Black Palm was pain! I remember that devil tree when I was stationed in Panama Central America. Those trees could hurt you badly with their barbed needles. Thanx for making something beautiful out of a bad memory. GBU brother.
I'm a native Arizonan, so we have palm wood EVERYWHERE. I have always wondered what palm tree wood working would look like. The striations in the grain are gorgeous. I need one now. 😄
Stunning is the right word. Amazing work. Love the "chisel cam"!! I have an off-cut of black palm in my shed and I've been nervous to use it as the fibres looked like they'd fall apart to me. You've encouraged me to give it a go in my next project!!
Absolutely Incredible!! You're imagination, creativity and untouchable workmanship make my heart melt!! True Inspiration! Thanks for sharing your means of expression Andy!
That's absolutely awesome. You have an amazing gift at creating beautiful pieces of art. I love watching you create such beautiful pieces of art. Just simply amazing.
Absolutely beautiful! I love your work! The shapes you create are so wonderful. The 'surprise inside' and the 'cool conker' are my absolute favorite of all the woodturning I have watched. And I've watched a ton because I'm addicted. But your pieces are without a doubt the best! And, the Yew root! How could I forget the Yew root? Not only us the shape awesome but the wood is spectacular! I think I've watched that one at least 4 times, just can't get enough of it. Yes, you are definitely my favorite!
I can't tell you how many segmented rings I've assembled, and how many approaches I've taken to it... but seeing you dip the veneer pieces in glue and slide them between the dry-assembled ring: mind blown. Thanks for sharing!
I loved everything about this video. The project, the wood choice, the prep steps, how much of each step was shown. The video work was equal to your wood work. A true joy.
Wow! What a beautiful piece! It never ceases to amaze me how much work goes into creating an item using all those teeny pieces, and the end result is a work of art.
Not only is his woodworking skills out of this world, but he's a hell of a cinematographer. What a treat just to watch. Thank YOU
This is stunning, Andy. It feels more like ceramics than woodworking. As The Merovigian told Neo, "So you have some skills."
Thank you
Lexzus Smooth ... I agree. It is stunning. I was married to a potter, so the comparison is perfect.
@@sweettrubble4635 👍Pottery is an awesome skill to possess, so I hope you have plenty from that space in time that you continue to enjoy.

Wow, now that's a labor of love. The tedium of cut, shape, glue, repeat, repeat, repeat, would stymie many. The end result, as always is beautiful.

Oblivious viewer: "No one can successfully film the inside of a vessel on a lathe whilst simultaneously sanding it."
Andy: "Hold my Danish oil."
I really liked his technique of sanding the inside.
Lol
Like an old episode of The Time Tunnel
